Transmigrating from a zombie world to become the mecha kings wife-Chapter 672: For real, one deity down.
Chapter 672: For real, one deity down.
Not even Arcissa could have prepared Scarlet for that final pull. It was so rushed and so abrupt, ripping through her body like a million cuts at the same time.
Her face paled and she screamed, one last loud high pitched scream as all five children were pulled out of her. They hovered in the air above her, held up by Arcissa’s power and the mid wife gently started lowering them onto the bed.
Slowly, Scarlet’s flames started to recede, as her body mended itself and trembled. She felt weak, like all of the energy had been sucked from her body. Suddenly, she felt this injection of cold wind into her body.
"Cold." she muttered.
Esong covered her quickly with a blanket that was sitting on the rocking chair.
Scarlet was hardly paying attention to that because he mind was already on the children. They were supposed to cry. That’s what babies did when they were born, they cried. Why were hers not crying?
In a panicked voice, she said. "My children, Esong they are not crying."
She threw the blanket off her body and she reached out for them. They were still connected, different threads tied to one cord. She assumed that it was the seed cord which had been mentioned because it was pale white like a moon stone but it sparkled and had a pulse like a living being.
It’s beating drew the attention of Lythia and Lanta. This little thing could restore balance and return to the underworld to it’s former glory.
"A real life seed cord." Carnelia gasped.
It was as if they didn’t hear or see Scarlet’s worry about the children not crying. She looked at her palm and looked at her babies whose eyes were still closed.
"We have to smack them on their bottoms."
Esong’s mouth dropped open. Why would they beat their newly born daughters? He looked at tiny little babies, sleeping innocently like little angels. Who could have the heart to beat the most beautiful little things he had ever seen in his life.
Piak!
Hardly had he completed the thought than the sharp sound of something being hit reached his ears. Astonished, his eyes moved from his wife to one of their daughters, he had no idea which it was. It had a red mark on it’s bottom that had been exposed.
Scarlet had her hand up and she looked like she ready to keep going.
"Don’t" he grabbed her hand.
"They have to cry." Scarlet replied, like a possessed woman.
She pushed him away and almost brought her hand down on the bottom of another baby again. That’s when all hell broke lose.
It started with one of the babies opening it’s eyes, staring at Scarlet with displeasure and then opening it’s tiny mouth. One by one, the rest opened their eyes, all glowing red as if to declare their reaper status and then, the crying started.
"They are reapers, all of them. And they are crying, woo-hoo!!" Lythia jubilated.
She and Carnelia hugged, celebrating the reaper nature of the children.
Scarlet got her wish but she wanted to take it back suddenly. Five crying babies that needed soothing at the same time was not exactly the world’s most beautiful song. One wasn’t crying, she was practically screeching. Her cry was so piercing that a few glass items in the house shattered.
That created even more happiness in the two goddesses.
"So powerful, so strong, so beautiful." Carnelia said in a loud happy voice.
Arcissa gave Scarlet something warm to drink to return the blood she had lost."We must separate them from the cord and identify the oldest from the youngest. Then, they must begin feeding. After feeding they must take a bath in the crystal pond and be given a drop of purifying water. We must also present them to the pulse, their souls should be nourished as soon as possible.
You too Scarlet, you need to be cleansed and fortified. Your energy has been drained, you will need to be nourished by the pulse as well and take some purifying water to remove the impurities in your body."
At the same time, while Arcissa was explaining and Esong retrieved the seed cord, the goddess of fate finally moved like the wind itself and her hand touched one of the children.
For her, identifying the oldest child was simple because she had marked the child. She had come for the child, and she would be leaving with one, Kopuko or not, she would not be stopped.
Grimm was the first to see her moving and he growled. He leaped and clamped his teeth onto her head, in an attempt to rip it off.
Scarlet’s reaction was not any slow. Even though her flames had died down, she was still very much alert. Her right hand caught that of fate as soon as the goddess touched her child.
Her eyes returned to their green state. Fate must have heard Arcissa talking about her energy being drained so she figured that this was the best moment to strike.
"I warned you." Two voices came from Scarlet’s mouth.
Fate’s eyes widened. "How...how.." She was supposed to be weak, drained of all her energy. Female reapers lost their strength for a few hours after giving birth. She had assumed a kopuko would be no different.
"You underestimate my abilities. I guess you don’t see your own fate." Scarlet said with a smirk.
Flames covered Scarlet’s hand and they started travelling up to the struggling goddess. She used her power to pull the goddess down to her knees, bringing her down to the same level as she was. Looking into her eyes, green flames shot out from Scarlet’s eyes, and flew into the eyes of the goddess. A shrieking scream of pain escaped from Fate’s mouth and bits of her skin started cracking as if she was an ordinary clay statue breaking apart.
The others in the room watched on in horror as they witnessed Scarlet draining the powers from the goddess, killing her slowly.
"It’s real, the kopuko is real." Carnelia whispered in fright. "I need to get out of here."
She teleported out, leaving a stunned and horrified Lythia behind to witness the end of this goddess of fate. She listened to every wail, and watched with curious eyes, keen to learn how it worked.
Unlike Carnelia, she was smarter. If they could learn how the powers of the kopuko worked, they could defend themselves from it if it ever came for them.
Like she was studying Scarlet, Esong was studying her.
"She hasn’t even tried to help." he said in his mind, to Nyx.
"Because she is smart enough not to dare go up against my wife. Look at her, isn’t she lovely when she is bringing a deity to her knees. She is going to be glorious in battle."
"Shut up you idiot. She is afraid but she is also observing. When you have an enemy that you can’t understand, you study them, you learn and then you adjust."
Unlike the love obsessed Nyx, cool headed Esong saw the picture for what exactly it was. So, he put the still crying babies in a life pod and stood in front of Scarlet and the half disappeared former goddess of fate.
Lythia shot him a displeased glance and raised her hand. Perhaps, intending, to fling him out of the way. She stopped herself and smiled.
"Take the seed and go." Esong said forcefully. "We will meet you on the dead world in less than an hour."
