"Mummy, I’m hungry." Tao Mei said as she walked to her mother who was looking through her drawings.
Tao Luqi immediately dropped the drawings and carried her three-year-old daughter saying "What do you want to eat?"
"Pizza." Tao Mei said with a smile.
"Pizza? But we ate pizza last night." Tao Luqi said, arranging her little girl’s hair.
Tao Mei pouted her lips and was about to say something else when her mother’s phone rang. Her eyes brightened when she saw who was calling.
Tao Luqi noticed her daughter’s expression and smile when she saw the caller ID, she answered the call and said "Aren’t you supposed to be in a meeting?"
"I ended it early because I kept thinking of you." A male voice was heard over the phone.
Before Tao Luqi could reply, Tao Mei’s little voice was heard as she shouted "Uncle Shuo."
Dai Shuo chuckled as he said, "Hearing my little Mei voice just made my day."
Tao Luqi chuckles and says "I was planning to take your little Mei out for dinner, do you want to come along?"
"Of course, I will be there in fifteen minutes." Dai Shuo said and he spoke to his little Mei for a few more seconds before they said goodbye.
"What?" Dai Shuo asked his secretary who was giving him a disbelieving look.
"Sir, you just said you will be there in fifteen minutes but you have another meeting in five minutes." The secretary replied.
"Cancel it." Dai Shuo said.
"But...." The secretary was about to argue when his boss glanced at him coldly. In all his years of working, his current boss has to be the most terrifying man he has ever worked for.
What terrified him the most when it came to his boss, was his boss’s ability to become warm when it came to Miss Tao and her child and then become ice when he was no longer with her.
"Yes boss, I will cancel it."
Without saying anything, Dai Shuo walked out of his office.
The secretary sighed in relief and wondered what was the true face of his boss, was he warm or cold?

Dai Shuo entered a fancy restaurant and said to the waiter "Miss Tao is expecting me."
The waiter nodded, and he led him to Tao Luqi’s table.
Dai Shuo’s eyes softened when he saw Tao Luqi feeding Tao Mei a glass of juice and cleaning her greasy mouth. He touched his pocket and felt the small velvet box in it.
Tao Luqi noticed Dai Shuo standing and looking at her with a smile, she waved her hands and called his name softly.
Regaining his senses, Dai Shuo smiled and walked up to them, he sat beside Tao Mei who had her mouth stuffed with chicken, and laughed softly.
"Once again you are spoiling her too much." Dai Shuo said.
"Am I?" Tao Luqi asked innocently as she looked at her cute daughter who was eating the chicken with her hand and without a care in the world.
She turned her gaze to Dai Shuo and asked "The annual business award is tomorrow, will you be going?"
"Of course, I have to go. My dad is planning on getting Fu Mingze to invest in Dai Enterprise."
Tao Luqi frowned as she asked "Fu Mingze?"
Dai Shuo nodded as he asked, "You know him?"
Tao Luqi shook her head and said "No, not really. I have just heard of him."
"Every businessman in this country and abroad has heard of him. To be honest, as a businessman, I admire him. The way he was able to grow Fu group into an empire within four years is incredible."
"This Fu Mingze, how old is he?" Tao Luqi asked, she convinced herself that she was just asking out of curiosity, and truly the more she heard about Fu Mingze, the more she became curious about him.
"I think he is in his thirties but he doesn’t look like it. The first time I saw him, I thought he was in his late twenties."
"Have both of you spoken before?"
Dai Shuo shook his head and said "I have only seen him once and that was at a business party two years ago. He looked so cold and unapproachable, only top businessmen could gather the courage to talk to him."
Tao Luqi scoffed and said, "He must be arrogant."
"He is the best so he has the right to be and besides you are not one to talk when it comes to being arrogant."
"I’m the best at what I do, I have the right to be." Tao Luqi said with a smile as sipped her wine.
Dai Shuo watched as she licked her lips after sipping her wine and suddenly felt hot. He wondered what those lips would taste like, he still remembered how he had tried to kiss her but they both got interrupted by Tao Mei crying and since then, he has not been able to get another chance.
"Uncle Shuo can’t stop looking at mummy because she is very pretty." Tao Mei said with her greasy mouth.
Dai Shuo came out of his trance and looked at Tao Mei with a smile and said "You are right, your mother is indeed beautiful."
"Wow, the both of you are so good when it comes to flattery." Tao Luqi replied with a smile.
Dai Shuo looked at her and said "It isn’t just flatteries Luqi, you are indeed the most beautiful woman I have ever set my eyes on."
Tao Luqi was stunned for a moment, she suddenly smiled and proudly said "I know."
Dai Shuo laughed and was not surprised at her response. Tao Luqi was beautiful and she knew that she was beautiful.
"Tao Mei! Stop playing with your food." Tao Luqi said strictly.
Tao Mei looked at the pasta before her and said "I’m full."
"But you haven’t eaten, you only ate the chicken, now eat the food." Tao Luqi said. She seriously wondered where her daughter got this terrible habit from. She would cry that she was hungry and when she was served food, she would end up eating only the meat and leaving the main dish.
"But I’m full." Tao Mei said as her eyes became teary.
"Since she is full then just let her be. Tao Mei, do you want to go play some games instead?" Dai Shuo asked. The restaurant not only serves food but also has a section where kids can play.
Dai Shuo called a waitress and instructed her to clean Tao Mei up and then take her to play games.
Tao Mei happily followed the waitress, leaving her mother and her uncle Shuo alone at the table.
"And yet you say I am spoiling her."
"Well, I think it is ok if I do the spoiling because I’m eagerly hoping I will be able to spoil and love her more as her father and not just as Uncle Shuo." Dai Shuo said as he looked at Tao Luqi in the eyes.
Tao Luqi was speechless, she could see his sincerity and she badly wanted to say yes, after all, Dai Shuo was a good guy, and not every man is capable of treating another man’s child as their own. But why couldn’t she? Why was that word so hard to say?
Seeing the reluctance in her eyes, Dai Shuo held her hand and said "I have loved you from the first time I saw you and I’m sure you must have known it. I will love Tao Mei as my child, in fact, I already love her as my child."
"What if I regain my memories? What if I remember something about Tao Mei’s father?"
"But Tao Mei’s father is dead. Your father told you that you had a car accident with him and you were the only survivor."
"I know but what if I remember how much I had loved him? I will only end up hurting you Dai Shuo."
"I will love you so much that even if your memories return you will realize that no man has ever loved you the way I will." Dai Shuo said. He brought her hand to his lips and said "Let me love you Tao Luqi, give me a chance to be your man and to be Tao Mei’s father."
That word that had been heavy for her to say still felt very heavy but this time she was able to bring it out of her lips. She was able to say "Yes."
