Trapped In A Novel As The Breeding Mate For Four Powerful Alphas-Chapter 14: Then, should we try it out together sometime?
Chapter 14: Then, should we try it out together sometime?
"Hyung," Min-Cheol called and I snapped out of it. "Did that old man really not say anything about the others?" He asked and I flinched, my eyes traveling heavily towards him.
Was he doubting me? No, I didn't let anything slip so he was just curious.
That expression on his face said he was just curious so I had nothing to worry about.
I exhaled openly.
Why was he calling Ki-hoon 'old man' anyway? Sure, he was older, but wasn't that too much?
"No, he didn't." I answered. "But the maid did say something about my life being in the hands of four masters. Ah, now I get what she meant. So there were four of you who bought me, is that right?"
"That is correct." He said and dropped his chin on his interlocked fingers. "Hyung is so smart."
Ah, I already knew Min-Cheol was quite the enthusiastic character in the novel but this seemed to be more than I had expected.
I thought he would doubt me because of my sudden sigh and how I flinched but maybe he wasn't so sharp anymore. Or was he just overlooking it?
He always had his eyes on me and every single thing I did seemed to amuse me. He did not relent from speaking to me and liked it more when I answered intelligently but not too intelligently.
If I did then he'd start to wonder if my actions were all calculated from the start in order to fool him.
He was a freaking time bomb, I tell you.
Though he was over his twenties, he tended to act with a childlike plainness, though his thoughts were far beyond childlike plainness and were sharp and dangerous.
He wasn't like how he appeared at all.
"Little Min, do you like food?" I asked him and he nodded. "Then, want to hear a secret?" I asked, and his eyes lit up, wondering what I was going to say. "So, when I was being brought to the mansion, there was this super nice restaurant. They have the best of everything. I don't know if you've been there before, but it's my favorite restaurant."
"Hm, is that the secret?" He asked and I nodded, smiling happily.
I wasn't planning on telling him a big secret from the start. After all, the littlest things got Min-Cheol excited, so I didn't need to try tooo hard in this aspect.
"Then, should we try it out together sometime? I'd like to taste for myself just how good their food is." He said. "What's the name of the restaurant?"

"Ah," I turned my head away awkwardly and slowly looked back at him. "Sorry, I didn't even check the name of the restaurant."
He looked at me for a while and then laughed.
"It's okay," he said. "I'm just glad Hyung told me one of his secrets."
Even if I knew the name of the restaurant, I wouldn't have told it to Min-Cheol. If he found the restaurant and it was not up to his taste, he might just destroy the business.
I just brought it up to strike up a conversation.
"Then, do you also want to hear a secret of mine, Hyung?" He asked and a chill ran down my spine.
What was that just now? That gaze in his eyes. It felt like he was trying to bury me alive. His smile had stiffened, turning dark.
I had a bad feeling about it and quickly declined,
"No, it's fine. You don't have to tell me your secret." I said but he insisted.
"No way, Hyung. I'll tell you a secret," he said and grabbed my hand. "I lied. I did not take a day off." H confessed and I gulped.
Of course, I knew he lied, but if he was planning to hold a confession session, then he could go to a church or something. Why was he telling me this?
"On my way here, I actually planned to take a look at Hyung and 'try' you out once before going to work." He glanced at me, his gaze holding mischief. "I had no other thoughts and didn't even plan to hold a conversation with you, but when I found you sleeping, I was enamored." He smiled and looked up at me. "Watching you sleep so peacefully brought peace to my mind for the first time so I couldn't leave."
I stared at Min-Cheol, surprised.
At first, I was startled when he said he came to 'try' me out. He clearly meant sex but to think he changed his mind just because he saw me sleeping so peacefully.
Was that even possible?
I know Jo-Pil's face is pretty, so his sleeping face must be like that of an angel, but it's not like Min-Cheol never saw Jo-Pil's sleeping face in the original novel.
It's as if there's something missing. As if there's something he's not telling me. Something other than my sleeping face might've piqued his curiosity.
Or did the trajectory of the world change because of all the changes I made on my first day here?
"Then, do you no longer plan to 'try' me?" I asked and regretted it almost immediately. It was as if I was asking him to do what he intended to do.
"Hm, I'm not sure." Min-Cheol answered and smiled. "Right now, I just want to talk to Hyung and watch you. So, please smile a lot, Hyung."
In other words, if I did what he wanted, he wouldn't go that far as to 'try' me.
I laughed.
"Huh? What's funny, Hyung?"
"You, Little Min." I said. "Your secret sounded so silly and now I think my own secret was even sillier. We're a pair of silly people." I laughed.
Min-Cheol took a few seconds to understand what I said before he laughed along with me.
"Silly things are fun," he said, still laughing and I laughed as well.
I honestly don't know what's going on or if things were completely green at the moment but I decided to just place my hopes and everything on luck. Of course, I wouldn't try to test them either so I was sure I would be okay for now.
In the meantime, I would wait for Ki-hoon to return. I'd have to respond to him depending on his reaction to what he found. If he still chose to doubt Jo-Pil or he wavered a lot... In my favor, then I would go with the flow. But I doubt it would be that easy.
After all, it wasn't that easy to clean the slates of resentment and betrayal.
