Trapped in the Beastworld Breeder System (BL)-Chapter 55: I was scared...
While Aries was still dealing with the rundown of information from the system, Kenzie was at Lady Kiria’s place, plotting against Aries, and Lucien was busy at the physician’s quarters.
Soon enough, Lucien arrived at Aries’ quarters with the physician beside him, and together, they entered the room. Aries could be seen standing before the mirror, unmoving, seemingly out of his mind.
"Aries..." Lucien called out softly, but there was no response. Aries merely stood there, staring into oblivion as though the world around him no longer existed.
Lucien turned to the physician, concern evident in his eyes. The physician observed Aries briefly before saying, "You might have to get closer to him and touch him to get his attention."
"Oh... right?" Lucien replied uncertainly, then did as instructed. He walked toward Aries and, standing directly in front of him, called his name again while gently tapping him.
His hand grazed Aries’ shoulder as he called out once more, but there was still no response. Lucien waved his hand before Aries’ face, yet nothing changed.
The physician stepped forward and placed two fingers just beneath Aries’ nose. After a brief pause, he said, "He’s still breathing. This is only a momentary phase. It’s a state of intense brooding—his consciousness has likely slipped into a thinking realm."
"Oh... I see..." Lucien, who was already panicking, murmured.
"Just shake him, and he should come back," the physician advised.
Lucien nodded and placed both hands on Aries’ shoulders, shaking him gently at first, then a bit more firmly. Aries, who had been so lost in his thoughts that he hadn’t noticed the figures entering the room or calling his name, finally snapped out of it.
The intense conversation with the system, which had seized his senses completely, stopped abruptly as he returned to the real world. His eyes focused, landing first on Lucien and then drifting to the unfamiliar figure beside him, whose identity he couldn’t immediately place.
"You’re back?" Aries asked, staring at Lucien.
"Yes, I’m back," Lucien replied. He stepped aside slightly and let out a small sigh before gesturing toward the physician. "And I brought company."
Aries raised a brow in mild confusion.
"This is the physician who treated you when others couldn’t," Lucien continued. "I brought him here so he could check if you’re perfectly okay."
"Oh... thank you," Aries said sincerely.
For a brief moment, the three of them simply stared at one another, the silence stretching awkwardly. Aries didn’t know how to break it until the physician finally did.
"So, if Lord Aries doesn’t mind," the physician said kindly, "you should head back to the bed and lie down so I can examine you."
"Oh... sure, that’s good," Aries nodded quickly. He walked back to the bed and lay down just as the physician requested.
His eyes wandered around the room while he waited, taking in familiar details that somehow felt new again. When the two men approached him, a dull thud echoed as the physician dropped his tool bag onto the floor and pulled out several instruments.
"Please breathe calmly and close your eyes," the physician instructed. "Just relax. There’s no need to fret."
That, however, was easier said than done for Aries.
For someone who had been unconscious for three months, being asked to close his eyes again so soon after waking up felt oddly irritating. Still, knowing he needed to be sure he was fully well, Aries complied.
As Aries closed his eyes, the physician began his work. His hands and tools moved carefully over Aries’ body, searching for answers, checking reactions. He drew blood with a sharp prick to Aries’ wrist, examined his eyes and ears thoroughly, and ran a few more tests before finally stepping back.
"All done," the physician said. "You can open your eyes now."
Turning toward Lucien so he could maintain eye contact with him while still addressing Aries, he added, "Honestly, I can see why the king cherishes you. I’m beginning to believe you truly are human, just as the rumors say."
"What do you mean?" Aries asked as he sat up, resting his back against the bedframe.
"I mean," the physician explained, "I’ve been doing my absolute best all this time, administering tonics, preparing more daily, but I truly believed you might never wake up. Or that it would take an exceptionally long time."
"Oh..." Aries muttered. "Even three months isn’t that long. How long were you expecting?"
"Three to ten years, perhaps," the physician replied honestly. "If you woke up at all. The shock to your brain combined with the blood loss should have caused a prolonged coma, possibly even permanent damage. Seeing you awake, and this healthy is unbelievable. I’m genuinely relieved." 𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝚠𝚎𝚋𝗻𝗼𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝚘𝐦
"Oh..." Aries uttered softly.
Lucien, who had been standing quietly nearby, finally spoke. "Well, I suppose you’re done here. And thank you for the tonics, who knows, they may have helped more than you realize."
"Of course," the physician said, bending to pack his tools. "I should report to the king as well. He must be desperate to hear this news."
"Yes, you should," Lucien agreed.
With that, the physician left the room.
Left alone together, Lucien leaned against the table opposite the bedframe, folding his arms lightly.
"It’s true," Lucien said quietly.
"What is?" Aries asked, lifting his gaze to meet Lucien’s.
"What the physician said," Lucien replied. "With your healing abilities, I thought you might recover on your own. But a month passed... then another. I was scared. Honestly, I was losing my wits. I didn’t know what I would have done if you hadn’t woken up today."
"..." Aries said nothing. He merely toyed with his fingers, staring at anything but Lucien.
It wasn’t that Lucien’s words lacked emotion—it was simply that Aries wanted space. Time to think. To plan his next steps, rather than be wrapped in warmth and sentiment.
Seeing Aries’ reaction, a faint smile tugged at Lucien’s lips. "I won’t bore you with my worries," he said gently. "Besides, you must be hungry."
