Trapped in the Beastworld Breeder System (BL)-Chapter 63: Does anyone object?
It was as though a bomb had dropped. The entire hall erupted in noise—soft whispers at first, which quickly swelled into a loud murmur as distress and disagreement spread. The officials’ faces were etched with clear defiance.
Aries was not so different, only that most of his turmoil was buried deep within him. His mind reeled as he processed what he had just heard, but to be certain, and not jump to unnecessary conclusions, he spoke.
"What did you say, Your Majesty?"
"It appears I might have heard wrongly," he added, his breath uneven as he waited, each passing second growing more suffocating than the last.
Then the king confirmed the bomb that had been dropped. He slammed his hand hard against the table, the force vibrating through the hall and silencing every sound of displeasure from the officials.
The hall quieted down as everyone waited on the king’s words.
"I do not speak to you people," the king said coldly. "Hence, you shall not air your opinions anyway." 𝚏𝕣𝕖𝚎𝚠𝚎𝚋𝚗𝐨𝐯𝕖𝕝.𝕔𝐨𝕞
The hall fell silent immediately. The king had been angered. Every official bowed at once, heads lowered as they sought to calm the enraged ruler.
A few seconds passed before the king gestured dismissively. "You may all rise."
Then, turning to Aries, the one who had dared to question him, he said, "It seems you do not understand me, so I will explain carefully."
He continued, "I aim to rule over the Beast Kingdom fully and absolutely. I intend to be the one in control, enforcing order, respect, and power that is rightfully accorded to me."
’Oh... it is exactly as written in the script,’ Aries thought bitterly. ’The Wolf King is a power-hungry ruler who seeks dominion over all realms.’ The realization settled heavily in his mind as he listened.
"And I wish to begin with the Tiger King," the king went on, "with you as my weapon. It is perfect, really. The Tiger King is your sworn enemy, so it is only fitting that you lead this effort."
Aries let out a heavy sigh when the king finished speaking. He steadied his breathing before finally responding.
"So that is why you made me Assistant War Lord? So I am to take part in a war?"
He frowned and continued, "What makes you think I am capable of this? I am not versed in war tactics, nor am I strong enough to fight anyone. Why do you think I can take on such a role?"
"Simply because you are afraid of dying," the king replied, his voice thick and harsh. "You will do everything in your power to survive. And if you refuse... then it is death or I would not mind breeding you myself, or having someone do it for me. And that," he added coolly, "is something you do not like, is it?"
Aries felt anger surge within him, sharp and bitter, but he kept it hidden as best as he could.
As he stood there, his thoughts raced. ’So it has come to this,’ he realized.
His gaze swept around the hall as another thought followed. ’So I may have to run from this place as well, when it becomes unbearable.’
"So," the Wolf King said again, lifting his chin as he addressed the hall, "as I stated, he will be made the second War Lord. Does anyone object?"
’Does anyone object?’ Aries scoffed inwardly. ’Why ask such a question when the king had already made it clear that dissent would not be tolerated?’
It felt like offering freedom that did not exist, opening a door only to trap those foolish enough to step through it.
Yet, to Aries’ surprise, two people raised their hands.
One was someone he knew all too well. The other made his stomach twist with confusion and unease.
’Why would the War Lord step forward for me?’ Aries wondered nervously. ’This will not end well.’
War Lord Thales stepped out from the line of officials, faster than Lucien, and quicker to speak.
"There could be no better decision," Thales said smoothly. "Anyone who objects clearly does not wish what is best for Your Majesty and stands against your desires. Such behavior borders on treason."
His gaze flicked to Aries, lingering just long enough to send a chill down Aries’ spine, before he turned back to the officials.
"Does anyone truly have an objection?" Thales continued. "Lord Lucien, we noticed you raised your hand earlier. What was it you wished to say?"
Aries knew this much: War Lord Thales was not good news. Being named Assistant War Lord already felt like a curse, and Thales’ involvement only deepened that feeling. Still, Aries forced himself to remain calm and watch.
Lucien had been swallowing hard ever since Thales raised his hand. He knew his rival would never genuinely support someone he showed interest in, and whatever he said now could easily be twisted against him.
Lucien glanced at Aries, who looked back at him, then turned his eyes to the king and slowly shook his head.
"Thales has already said everything I would have," Lucien said carefully. "This is the best decision. You are truly wise, Your Majesty."
"Good," the king said with satisfaction. "Since everyone supports this, I am pleased."
The king then rose up from his seat, his clothing and demeanor radiating his regal and royal self. "Then hear this decree, Lord Aries. From this moment onward, all your actions shall serve the Wolf King and this kingdom. Every decision you make must be guided by the well-being of the kingdom and my wishes."
"Soon, when all preparation has been done, there shall be a celebration to formally bestow your title, and you shall begin your duties immediately."
Aries sighed heavily as he proceeded the final decree in his mind, his eyes closed briefly and when he opened them, he said, "Well understood, Your Majesty,"
He knew he could no longer object, not when resistance was impossible, and when the only person he trusted in the kingdom could not, or would not, stand against it.
