Trapped in the Beastworld Breeder System (BL)-Chapter 67: What I saw is real...
Kenzie was confused by the request, but he complied straight away. Everything that had happened so far was already confusing enough for him to know not to linger on this small moment or worry about it.
He threw the axe aside and dragged Aries out of the room. Once they were outside, Aries felt the tension in his lungs finally release, and for the first time in a long while, he could breathe something other than the metallic tang of blood. Yet, he still felt lightheaded and disgusted, his stomach churning as he tried to process what had just happened.
"What happened inside there?" he asked, his voice trembling slightly as he looked at Kenzie.
Kenzie simply looked back at him, eyes calm but unreadable, and responded,
"I should be asking that. What possessed you?"
"One minute, you are castrating me for trying to torture a prisoner and the next, you were so in support of it that you wouldn’t mind killing him."
"I... I don’t know," Aries admitted.
He placed a trembling hand on his head as he tried to piece together everything that had just occurred. His eyes settled on the scenes replaying in his mind—the way he had shaken and brutalized the prisoner, the sharp, horrifying images that refused to leave him. He shook his head violently, trying to dislodge the memories, but it was impossible. He just couldn’t accept it.
He struggled to breathe again, and Kenzie’s voice brought him back to the present. "Don’t think about anything else right now. I know what’s troubling you. Just calm down and let me take you back to your quarters. "
And lastly, he asked, his voice tinged with worry and care, "Are you okay?"
Aries could only nod, too drained and numb to speak. Kenzie came closer, held him firmly at the waist, and led him away from the dungeon, away from the persisting, suffocating smell of blood that clung to the walls and floor.
As they walked several steps away, Lucien, who had just been moving around the side they passed spotted them. His eyes widened, and he froze in disbelief at the sight before him.
His mate, soaked in blood, was being held intimately by another man. One who, by the look of it, happened to be his brother.
"What was happening, and why was he injured?" Lucien’s mind raced.
The fact that Aries and Kenzie weren’t in front of the dungeon made Lucien unable to deduce what exactly was going on. His thoughts quickly jumped to the terrifying possibility that Aries had been hurt by Kenzie.
He moved at full speed, closing the distance before Kenzie could walk any further. Taken off guard, Kenzie’s grip on Aries faltered, and Aries nearly slipped, but Lucien reacted instantly, maneuvering swiftly and catching Aries before he could fall.
Kenzie laughed at the brief struggle, shaking his head in amusement. "What are you doing, walking so fast? I almost dropped him on the floor."
Lucien’s eyes flashed with anger. "Which honestly would have been the best place for you to drop! What is wrong with you? What did you do to him, and why is he like this?"
Kenzie, surprisingly calm, didn’t react with the hostility Lucien expected.
Perhaps it was because he had begun to feel a strange, begrudging fondness for Aries—a fact he himself had admitted. Instead of making him jealous of Lucien, this growing affection seemed to temper his usual response, reducing the intensity of the hatred he would normally feel. The retaliation he was meant to unleash against Lucien simply wasn’t happening.
Instead, Kenzie just chuckled lightly and said, "Look, I honestly don’t have the time for you. I know you’d stop to bark, but honestly... it’s best you tend to your mate. He isn’t feeling so good at the moment."
But Lucien refused to heed that warning.
The sight of Aries in such a state ignited a fury within him that overrode any caution. He carefully set Aries down in Roger’s hands, then turned back to Kenzie. Before either of them could react fully, Lucien drew his sword, ready to confront Kenzie head-on.
This elicited another amused chuckle from Kenzie, but he quickly drew his own sword in response. Then, suddenly, his expression shifted, serious and focused as Lucien lunged at him with fierce speed and precision.
Kenzie dodged to the side and swung his sword toward Lucien from behind. Lucien retaliated instantly, his blade aiming at Kenzie’s leg.
Kenzie stepped aside effortlessly, tension coiling in his muscles, eyes sharp and calculating. Just as he prepared to launch a decisive strike, Aries, struggling free from Roger’s hold, stepped between them, halting the confrontation.
He had struggled out of Roger’s hands and came to them, his movements trembling slightly but determined.
Lucien stopped midway, staring at Aries, his sword still in hand, and Aries said, his voice low and labored, "You guys should stop fighting."
"And Lucien... I need to rest," he added, his words weak but insistent. Lucien nodded instantly.
He dropped his sword to the floor and lifted Aries carefully, walking away from the area without regarding Kenzie.
Roger, left behind, watched quietly as Kenzie bowed politely before turning and departing.
As Lucien entered the quarters prepared for Aries, Roger had already gone to fetch the royal physician, who would examine him. Soon, the physician arrived, and after carefully inspecting Aries, discovered that no injuries had been inflicted.
With limited knowledge of the situation, he could not contest or argue against what had occurred. Lucien had to let him leave, reassured only by the promise that Aries would wake up soon and unharmed.
Lucien helped Aries change away from the dirty cloth, carefully handling him, and afterwards, he left briefly to clean himself, having gotten some of Aries’s blood on him during the process.
Aries woke to the silence of the room. His eyes moved wearily as he sighed, massaging his temples, the memory of the dungeon still heavy in his mind.
"What exactly happened?" he asked aloud, not yet ready to strain his mind to communicate silently with the system.
The system, which had been inactive for a while, finally responded:
[Your Skill was activated.]
"What I saw... is it real?"
[What did you see?] the system asked, feigning ignorance. Aries’s voice was quiet but determined as he answered.
"That prisoner isn’t innocent at all. Rather, he killed his wife, child, and her parents. He’s a sadist who derives joy from hurting others. At first, he killed her parents and siblings, causing her unimaginable pain. When she tried to hurt him, he killed her. Afterwards, when the kids disturbed him too much, he silenced them as well. But the neighbors noticed the silence, so they confronted him, and he killed one of them. That’s how the author heard of it. He’s brutal, and that’s why he needed to be tied up like that."
"I’m just feeling so bad now that I thought he was innocent. And speaking of this, I need to apologize to Lord Kenzie. But before that... tell me, what happened? Why was I able to see the last part?"
[It’s one of the Eye skills.
It enables you to get a glimpse into the memories of a targeted person based on how interested you are.
It also influences and intensifies your reaction to it depending on the situation. 𝓯𝙧𝓮𝓮𝒘𝓮𝙗𝙣𝒐𝒗𝒆𝓵.𝓬𝓸𝒎
Since you had regarded the man as innocent before and couldn’t hurt him, seeing those memories made you feel instantly betrayed by your previous thoughts and allowed you to torture him without hesitation.
The skill only aggravated how you acted—it amplified your emotions, made you more annoyed and uncontrollable.]
"Oh... no wonder I couldn’t control myself. I knew what I was doing wasn’t right, and even after seeing all that, I couldn’t stop myself... I just couldn’t stop, whatsoever."
"It was so terrifying."
[Yes, it was meant to be that way.]
"But... I didn’t even activate the skill. Why did it work by itself? Is this how it’s going to be from now on?"
[You should calm down, Host.
So, regarding your first question: yes, you didn’t actively use the skill, but as I said, it can activate automatically based on how strongly interested you are in the person or matter. That’s why it happened on its own.
The skill activated because you were so intrigued, wanting to know what Kenzie hadn’t told you.]
"Makes sense," Aries said, nodding slowly, still processing the revelation.
"So... every time I stare into someone’s eyes, I’ll see their memories, and that’ll drain me?"
[Technically, yes. Using the skill too much, or at all with intense situations, will strain your mind.
To limit that, you can spend CE points to use it.
Also, it wouldn’t be wise to go around looking into people’s memories indiscriminately especially if your intent is to kill after seeing them.]
"That’s true," Aries muttered, his brow furrowed.
"So... how do I stop myself from constantly activating it?"
[Isn’t that easy? Don’t look.]
"Ah..." Aries scratched the back of his head, a mixture of frustration and resignation in his expression.
