Chapter 138: Shock from The Humans

Ard, Eva, and the others watched the battle from a distance on the deck of the Black Wind, staying on guard with their weapons drawn. Although there were only about fifty of them, the giants seemed to be overwhelming the dwarves, who were using their golems and tanks to maintain constant fire and engage the giants in close-quarters combat. The size of those giants was truly awe-inspiring; they stood roughly 3.5 meters tall with thick, muscular bodies. They wore Roman-style iron armor, and their arms and legs were covered in glowing tattoos that made it seem as if their strength or magic originated from those markings.

Additionally, some of them had four arms; they carried massive kite shields in all four hands, charging at the very front and parrying every shot and attack from the dwarves. Naturally, seeing the dwarves being pushed back made Thorena’s blood boil. She was already inside her golem, its iron fists clenched tight. Geoffrey reached out and held the golem’s hand.

"Calm down, Thorena," Geoffrey said.

"But... they are losing, and I’m just standing here doing nothing," Thorena replied.

"If you go there, they’ll lose even faster because they’ll have to protect you. That’s the reality of it. So please, stay calm... at least for my sake," Geoffrey said.

Thorena went silent for a moment. She opened her cockpit and jumped down, and Geoffrey immediately wrapped his arms around her. She still looked furious, making her beautiful face look terrifying. Of course, Ard noticed them, but he said nothing and simply turned back to watch the fight. Suddenly, Eva, who was standing next to Ard, pulled Exelion out of her dimensional storage, leaving Ard stunned and shocked.

"Hey, what are you planning to do?" Ard asked.

"Just watch," Eva said.

Suddenly, Eva summoned Greta, her griffin familiar, who appeared already in her giant form. Eva immediately leaped onto Greta, who soared up into the air.

"Oh boy... what is she up to," Ard muttered in his head while pulling out Exgrandal.

Eva flew higher and higher into the sky. Once she reached the top, she raised Exelion upward. Black clouds gathered above her and began to release the rumbling sound of thunder. Seeing what Eva was doing, Ard immediately smiled; he put his Exgrandal away again and simply watched to see what she would do next.

"Blam... blam... blam," the brilliant lightning continued to hammer the earth repeatedly in the same spot. Naturally, Ard and the others raised their arms to shield their eyes from the blinding light, trying to ignore the deafening roars echoing across the battlefield. After Eva lowered her hand, the lightning stopped, leaving clouds of dust covering the entire combat zone.

When the dust cleared, the giants and the dwarf forces stood stunned, clutching their ears. The fighting ground to a halt as they all turned to look at the ground, which had been turned into a crater—though not a very deep one—by the repeated strikes of massive lightning in a single spot.

"Hey!"

Eva’s shout caused the stunned giants and dwarves to look up. Their eyes filled with shock as they saw a human girl riding a griffin every bit as massive as the giants, hovering above them while wielding a large, beautiful ancient sword.

"Stop this war! Don’t kill each other in my sight!" Eva shouted once more.

Naturally, the giants and dwarves immediately glanced at one another, then looked back once more at Eva. Her body was now enveloped in a grey energy, as was the griffin she rode, making her look more like a goddess than an ordinary human girl. Even the dwarves stationed on the wall fell silent, simply staring at Eva as they lowered their weapons. Finally, "clank," the giants and dwarves alike threw their weapons to the ground; the dwarves climbed down from their golems and emerged from their tanks.

Their faces were filled with utter confusion, clearly at a loss for what to do while watching Eva hover in the air. A moment later, they all gasped as they saw a garuda approach the griffin. A young human man was standing on its back; it was Ard, standing atop Ace and wielding a sword just as powerful as the one Eva held, coming alongside her.

"You really are something; I wondered what you were up to," Ard said to Eva.

"I hate seeing a war like this... I don’t want to see the sights of Earth repeated here," Eva said.

"And now they’re just dazed. What do you plan to say to them?" Ard asked.

"Um... I don’t know. Please, speak for me," Eva replied.

"Hah... typical. Now that it’s come to this, you just throw the problem to me. Unbelievable," Ard replied, annoyed.

Then Ard asked Ace to descend, and Eva followed suit, asking Greta to go down after him. When both familiars were close to the ground, Ard and Eva jumped and landed lightly on the earth. They held their swords, their bodies enveloped in a grey energy aura.

When Ard turned to look at the giants and dwarves who had just been fighting in front of them, the warriors jolted and jumped back into a defensive stance. However, this time they weren’t fighting each other; instead, the look on their faces suggested they were willing to join forces against a common enemy.

Ard turned to look at a four-armed giant in front of him who was staring at him in a daze. The giant’s head was bald except for long hair in the center, tied up into a topknot.

"Wow, this is the first time I’ve ever seen a giant," Ard said, walking up to stand directly in front of the behemoth.

"Hey Ard, don’t just go charging in recklessly," Eva replied.

"What is your name, oh giant?" Ard asked, completely ignoring Eva.

"Me? My name is Kresus," Kresus, the four-armed giant, answered in a booming voice.

"Hey... who are you people? Why are there humans here?" asked a dwarf standing next to Kresus.

"Ho... so you know Eva and I are humans? Have you seen humans before?" Ard asked.

The dwarf immediately fell silent. Kresus took a step forward, shielding the dwarf, and leaned down to stare at Ard and Eva. One of his hands gripped his chin, and from his expression, it looked like it was his first time ever seeing a human.

"You... are humans?" Kresus asked with a massive voice, his face right in front of Ard and Eva.

"Huaah," Ard and Eva immediately backed away, covering their noses and waving their hands in front of their faces. Naturally, Kresus became confused seeing Ard and Eva’s reaction; then, with their noses still covered, Ard and Eva looked him straight in the eye.

"Hey... you don’t brush your teeth, do you? Your breath stinks," Ard said bluntly.

"Good grief, please don’t get so close to us," Eva added.

"Ugh... sorry," Kresus replied, standing up straight in front of them until Ard and Eva had to look way up because Kresus’s body was so enormous.

"Hah... typical filthy giant," said the dwarf beside Kresus.

"Shut it, dwarf," Kresus shot back, glancing at the dwarf while folding all four of his arms across his chest.

"Hey... don’t start fighting again!" Ard shouted.

Ard and Eva observed the massive Kresus from a close distance; they only just realized that Kresus actually had six fingers on each hand and six toes on each foot. The two of them glanced at one another, then looked back at Kresus and the dwarf standing next to him. Eva turned her gaze toward the dwarf.

"What is your name?" Eva asked.

"Orin. Who’s asking?" Orin replied.

"My name is Eva, and this is Ard, my future husband. As you can see, we are humans," Eva answered.

"Hah... where did you two come from?" Orin asked.

"They come from the Kingdom of Grimgrath."

Orin turned, as did Kresus, Ard, and Eva, when they heard a man’s voice beside them. A white-haired dwarf with a thick beard wearing a robe approached them, with Thindor and Hardim seen walking behind him. Orin’s face filled with shock at the sight of the powerful-looking dwarf.

"General Bharlel? Why are you here?" Orin asked.

"I have to explain what is happening. Commander Kresus, I ask that you pull back your troops; we wish to speak with you. This is a direct order from King Murmic," Bharlel answered, speaking to Kresus as well.

"Huh... fine, I’ll listen. But I won’t accept a peace treaty if the reasoning isn’t clear, because I received direct orders from King Vogir, our king—the King of the Tartagia Kingdom," Kresus stated firmly.

"Fine, let us speak. I apologize that you had to witness this, Lord Ard and Lady Eva," Bharlel said, bowing his head as he turned toward them.

"It’s no problem, General. Let’s talk... everyone," Ard replied.

"Thank you for coming out, General. We’d be happy to speak with you," Eva added.

Hearing Bharlel’s words, Kresus and Orin naturally turned to look at Ard and Eva once more. Their faces were full of questions, as if asking, "who exactly are these two humans?"
