Chapter 142: Journey to Kingdom of The Giants

The following day, after returning to the front lines with Kresus and Lesnar, they departed from the battlefield toward the kingdom of Tartagia using a giant carriage pulled by a massive horse belonging to Kresus’s troops. Ard, Eva, Thorena, Hardim, and the others were in awe as they boarded a carriage of such immense size, with an interior so spacious that their feet couldn’t even reach the floor and simply dangled in the air. But what truly amazed them was the giant black horse—muscular with curly hair, six legs, and a split tail. The creature was known as a Giant War Horse.

"Wow," Adeline and Beatrice murmured in unison while observing the horse from inside the carriage.

"Hmm... the giant war horse is also a type of familiar; I’ve read about it in books," Mirea said.

"Is that so? Does that mean there’s a possibility other familiars are living in Le Rein Infernal?" Claudia asked.

"I don’t know... but the giant war horse is in the book of familiars... so it’s possible," Mirea answered.

"This carriage is big... really big," Alicia murmured, taking in her surroundings.

"Yeah, you could transport an entire town with just a few of these. It’s amazing," Milia replied, also looking around.

Pyria noticed Alicia and Milia sitting deep inside, far away from the horse. She shifted over to stand in front of them.

"Why aren’t you two sitting closer to the front?" Pyria asked, pointing toward the horse.

"It stinks," Alicia and Milia answered at the same time, pinching their noses.

"Oh, I see," Pyria muttered, shaking her head.

"Hey... don’t be like that. We are heading to the giant kingdom, which is bound to be spectacular. Don’t let that giant horse make you look uncomfortable and end up offending them," Claudia scolded.

"Ugh... it’s not that I’m uncomfortable, but well... my nose is suffering," Alicia said. 𝒇𝒓𝙚𝒆𝔀𝓮𝓫𝒏𝓸𝙫𝓮𝓵.𝓬𝙤𝙢

"Same here, me too. So please, just ignore us," Milia added.

"You guys are pathetic. Even Princess Beatrice and Princess Adeline are sitting right up front near the horse," Rosalind teased.

"Let them. They’ve always been easily impressed anyway," Alicia shot back.

"Enough already, stop the noise," Ainsley scolded while adjusting her glasses.

"She’s right... and what about you, sister? Why are you sitting with them?" Irwin asked, noticing Irina sitting next to Alicia and Milia.

"I... am the same as them. Don’t mind me," Irina said, turning to look out the curtain at the back of the carriage.

"Sigh... give me a break," Claudia muttered, shaking her head.

Meanwhile, Geoffrey sat next to Thorena, who was looking down and lost in thought. He took Thorena’s hand until she looked up at him sitting beside her.

"Don’t worry, I’m sure both of your siblings are fine," Geoffrey said.

"Yes, thank you, Geoffrey," Thorena said with a sad smile.

"Our goal in the giant kingdom is to investigate and speak with King Vogir. Take it easy, Thorena—leave it to Ard and Eva," Hardim added.

"I understand, Uncle," Thorena replied.

The carriage pressed on. Ard and Eva, sitting on the driver’s bench alongside Kresus and Lesnar as they steered and held the reins, scanned their surroundings. The carriage began to enter a desert region that stretched out before them. The air started to feel hot yet cold at the same time—completely uncomfortable.

Ard went as far as unbuttoning his shirt as his body broke into a sweat, and Eva followed suit by taking off her blazer. Even though it was a desert, there was no sun above; the land was illuminated by crystals. The heat rose from beneath the ground while the cold came from the blowing wind, making the atmosphere incredibly humid and oppressive.

Ard and Eva turned to look at Kresus, who sat beside them with his body upright and his four arms folded across his chest. It was obvious that Kresus wasn’t sweating and wasn’t bothered by the humid desert conditions at all. Eva shifted closer to Ard next to her.

"Do the giants live in an uncomfortable desert region like this?" Eva asked in a whisper.

"It seems so... but they look perfectly comfortable," Ard answered, whispering back.

"This is really nothing like the Sahara on Earth," Eva muttered.

"Of course it’s different, don’t compare them. And why are you bringing up Earth again? You’re the one who said not to bring up our lives on Earth, remember," Ard countered.

"Yes, I know, it’s just... I automatically started comparing them," Eva replied.

"Good grief. Can you please move away a little? It’s stifling, you know," Ard said irritably.

"Fine, fine. I’m hot too," Eva snapped back.

Then Ard and Eva glanced inside at their friends. "Swooosh," a wave of stifling air escaped from within as they opened the curtain. With the rear curtain also open, it was clear that—aside from Beatrice, Adeline, Hardim, and Thorena—Geoffrey and the others looked miserable. They had stripped off some of their layers due to the stuffiness and humidity. Everyone seemed overheated, and it was written all over their faces that the heat was taking a toll on their tempers, as they looked both irritated and exhausted. Ard caught a glimpse of Beatrice and Adeline, who were peeking out, watching the horse and Lesnar as he drove the carriage.

"Aren’t you two hot?" Ard asked.

"Not really," Beatrice answered casually.

"Same here, I’m not overheated either," Adeline added, her eyes sparkling, clearly still captivated by the amazing sights around her.

"Just leave them be, Ard," Eva said.

"I know," Ard replied.

Then Ard turned to look at Kresus, who sat bolt upright, staring straight ahead without glancing elsewhere.

"Do we still have a long way to go?" Ard asked.

"No, our kingdom lies on the bank of the river just ahead," Kresus answered, pointing forward.

Ard turned his gaze ahead, in the direction Kresus was pointing; he squinted his eyes. In the distance, a river appeared, and it was clearly no mirage or illusion, but then Ard looked slightly startled. Behind the river, massive single-story buildings came into view, along with three great pyramids and a statue standing perhaps 15 meters tall at the back of the city. He could also see many giant coconut trees and giant palms surrounding the river.

Those massive single-story buildings were numerous, stretching across the horizon to form a city. He also saw several animals similar to camels, but covered in fur, and a palace with many pillars standing in front of the statue and behind the three pyramids. Those pyramids looked like power plants, as many lines resembling circuit boards were visible on their white surfaces. Ard turned to see Eva beside him, her mouth agape and looking completely awestruck.

"Like Egypt on Earth?" Ard asked.

"Yep, exactly. Like Egypt on Earth... with three pyramids... wow... this is incredible," Eva answered.

"Oh, you know about pyramids? Those buildings are the electricity generators for our kingdom," Kresus remarked.

"Wait... electricity?" Ard and Eva asked, startled.

"Yes, we can use electricity for our daily lives," Kresus replied.

Ard and Eva looked back at the city of the Tartagia kingdom before them, which resembled ancient Egypt and could use electricity, located in a desert right behind a river that, as the carriage drew closer, appeared incredibly massive and wide. While the two were stunned, their thoughts drifting back to Earth, the curtain suddenly flew open. Beatrice and Adeline stepped out with Rosalind behind them, looking anxious.

"Wow... unbelievable," Adeline said, spotting the city ahead and sitting down next to Eva.

"The houses are so big; the buildings are strange but cool and huge. I’ve never seen anything like this," said Beatrice, who sat between Adeline and Kresus.

"Is it different on the surface?" Kresus asked with a smile, turning to look at Beatrice.

"Very different," Beatrice answered, her eyes fixed forward.

"Hmm... I would be delighted to show our city to all of you," Kresus said casually.

"Wow... really? Thank you, Lord Kresus," Beatrice said happily.

"Yes, thank you, Lord Kresus," Adeline added, her face lit up with joy.

"You’re very welcome. It is a great pleasure to have humans visiting our city," Kresus replied.

"He... hey, Princess Beatrice, Princess Adeline, don’t be so reckless," Rosalind scolded.

"Relax, Rosalind. Please, don’t be so stiff," Beatrice shot back.

"Yeah, take it easy, Sister Rosalind. Look at Big Brother Ard and Big Sister Eva; they’re staying calm and not overreacting, right?" Adeline said.

"Ugh, fine," Rosalind muttered, giving in.

"Relax, all of you are my guests. They aren’t bothering me at all; don’t be so hard on them," Kresus said, glancing at Rosalind.

Rosalind fell silent after hearing Kresus’s words. She turned to see Ard and Eva, who remained quiet, their eyes fixed on the city ahead of them. It looked like Heliopolis from the era of ancient Egypt, a reflection of Earth’s ancient Egyptian civilization—except the civilization before them was very much real. The carriage continued on toward the capital of the Tartagia kingdom, which stretched out before them, appearing far more magnificent than the capitals of the surface kingdoms or the dwarf kingdom.
