Chapter 152: Return To The Palace and Help The King

A short while later, Kresus arrived at the basement, escorted by Alicia, Mirea, Claudia, Beatrice, Adeline, Rosalind, Pyria, Ainsley, Irina, Irwin, and Geoffrey. Lesnar immediately reported everything to Kresus, and Kresus in turn explained that the palace was secure and had been locked down because King Vogir had suddenly slumped over and fallen into a deep sleep. Ard and Eva went straight to meet Kresus.

"Lord Kresus, how is the King’s condition?" Ard asked.

"Still alive, but it seems he is gravely ill... apparently, Idor was the one who captured Elmer and Princess Grethia, holding them here in this basement," Kresus muttered while looking around.

"Exactly... Lord Kresus, please take me and Ard to King Vogir," Eva said.

Kresus looked surprised, then he turned to see Lesnar nodding. Lesnar also explained what had happened to Kresus, starting from how Ard and Eva had managed to defeat the monster with ease and how all of their friends had slaughtered Idor’s sect forces guarding the house. Kresus—who had already seen Idor’s corpse out front, heard the soldiers’ reports, and been escorted by Ard and Eva’s friends—nodded, then turned to look at the two of them.

"Very well, let us return to the palace... Lesnar, take Princess Grethia and the dwarf prince to my home. We will plan our next move after this," Kresus said.

"Understood, Lord Kresus," Lesnar replied with a polite bow.

Then Kresus walked out of the room together with Ard and Eva to head toward the royal palace, where King Vogir was located. A short while later, upon arriving at the palace and entering King Vogir’s bedroom, Ard and Eva could see the King lying on his bed. Kresus lifted them up so both could get onto the bed to examine the King after they had removed their shoes. Without delay, Ard and Eva examined the King’s body, touching his neck, which was swollen with protruding blue veins.

"There is no mistake; just as the Dragon God taught us, King Vogir drank that potion," Ard said.

"Yes, come on Ard, let’s help him," Eva replied.

"Yeah, let’s go, Eva," Ard replied.

Ard took three bottles filled with blue liquid from his dimensional storage, while Eva pried the King’s mouth open. Ard poured every drop of the blue liquid from the three potion bottles until they were empty. After the King swallowed the mixture, Ard and Eva stood on his right and left sides, placing their hands on the King’s chest from both directions. Then, Ard and Eva’s entire bodies were enveloped in a gray energy aura that looked like fire, and a brilliant light burst from their palms.

Because it was so blindingly bright, Kresus had to raise his arm to cover his face. He peeked from behind his arm, watching what was happening with a feeling of awe and slight disbelief. A few moments later, "Gyaaaah!" a piercing scream echoed through the room. Kresus could see a figure emerging from within the King’s body—it was the same size and shape as the King, but it appeared as a red liquid like blood or blood energy, and it struggled as if it did not want to be cast out.

Slowly, King Vogir’s body, which had appeared skeletal, began to fill out again as if returning to its original state. His pale skin regained its color and glowed once more; the dark circles under his eyes vanished, and his sunken cheeks—though covered by a beard—began to return to their former shape. His beard, which had turned white, changed back to black, and his breathing, which had been labored and gasping, returned to normal as his chest began to rise and fall steadily.

Ard and Eva saw the red liquid figure that had emerged from the King’s body still hovering in the air, twitching as it tried to force its way back inside. They drew Exgrandal and Exelion from their dimensional storage and slashed through the red liquid figure, which screamed until it vanished into the air, completely evaporated.

After that, Ard and Eva raised one hand to stop the light, and then both of them slumped down, sitting on the bed.

"Ard... Eva, are you two alright?" asked Kresus, immediately stepping forward to approach them.

"We’re fine, just a little tired," Eva answered.

"The important thing is that the King has recovered to his former self," Ard added while turning to look at the King.

Kresus looked at the King, who now appeared as he had 50 years ago—still dashing and very powerful. Originally, Kresus had thought the King’s change was due to his grief and anger; previously, he had no idea at all that there was another influence making the King into the figure he had seen lately. Then Kresus stepped forward to check on the King, starting with his breath which had returned to normal and his heartbeat. After that, he turned back to look at Ard and Eva, then bowed.

"Thank you, Lord Ard... Lady Eva... you have truly saved our King," Kresus said formally.

"You’re welcome... we’re glad we could help. Now, let King Vogir rest; he will wake up on his own. Please tell someone who can look after him to let everyone know when he finally wakes," Ard said.

"Alright, I’ll step out for a moment to call his trusted attendant," Kresus said.

Kresus left the room immediately and returned shortly after with a female giant dressed in a white gown, looking like a lady-in-waiting who also served as the king’s concubine. Kresus explained everything to the woman, who looked shocked by the news, and he asked her to notify him at his residence the moment the king woke up. Once the woman understood and pulled up a chair to sit beside the bed, Kresus led Ard and Eva out of the king’s room so as not to disturb him. While walking down the palace corridor toward the exit,

"Lord Kresus, we have to inform King Murmic II in the border city of the Grimgrath Kingdom about what happened here. We’ll discuss it with Hardim later," Ard said.

"Alright, I understand. There will be many changes in this kingdom," Kresus muttered, already considering the next steps.

"Our job isn’t done yet; we still have to find the real Githiess egg," Eva muttered.

"True. Lord Kresus, have you ever heard of a continent across the sea?" Ard asked.

Kresus turned to look at Ard and Eva, who were staring at him. He seemed to think for a moment, raising one hand to his chin.

"According to legend, there is a land across the ocean. But to be honest, none of the giants have ever crossed the sea because, as the legends say, the ocean is not a place to be crossed. If anyone dares to try, they never return," Kresus said.

"Hmm... I see. Is it because of Lucathan?" Eva asked.

"Correct. The ocean is the domain of the Goddess Lucathan, and she is not pleased when anyone crosses her territory," Kresus answered.

"Alright, we’ll talk about this again later," Ard replied.

They continued walking toward the exit. Eva glanced at Ard, who seemed deep in thought as he walked beside her.

"You’re definitely thinking there’s a chance the Githiess egg is on the continent across the sea," Eva whispered.

"Yeah, but that’s not all. Hearing about Elmer and Grethia’s plan from Thorena’s letter, it’s possible they really did intend to take the egg across. But the mystery here is Princess Lurgena," Ard whispered back.

"Hmm... that’s true. Could she have carried out her siblings’ plan and crossed over with the Githiess egg?" Eva asked.

"Yes, that’s a possibility. But we can’t just decide to cross over because our intuition and instincts tell us to. We still have to wait for Elmer and Grethia to wake up so they can tell us what actually happened 50 years ago," Ard whispered.

"Hmm... right, there’s no other way. Even though we know Lucathan—and I’m sure the one in the ocean is the same child of Lucathan as the one on the surface, since it could probably enter these subterranean waters—we still can’t be reckless," Eva said.

"Geographically, if Le Rein Infernal is beneath the Durnhill Kingdom on the Southern Continent, that means the continent across the water is the underside of the Northern Continent—the one where the Ateras Kingdom is located," Ard muttered thoughtfully.

"Oh... you’re right. The Dragon God gave us this mission... there must be a purpose for it, and it makes sense why Lucathan roams the ocean since there are no middle, eastern, or western continents to restrict her," Eva said.

"Exactly. If that egg really is on the continent across the sea, then the task given by the Dragon God is likely to secure the situation on the Northern Continent and help the Ateras Kingdom," Ard replied.

The two of them looked at each other, then continued walking with Kresus at their side. After exiting the palace, they headed straight for Kresus’s residence to regroup with their friends and check on the condition of the two individuals they had just rescued from the basement of Idor’s home.
