Traveler of the River of Time and Space-Chapter 514 - 2: Unknown Empire
After tidying up the battlefield a bit, the primitives cheerfully prepared to head back.
Su Ziyu stealthily followed them while invisible.
The hovercar that the primitive leader was driving was quite advanced. Though it appeared worn out, it could still be controlled via voice command. After loading a heap of miscellaneous metal parts onto the car, he and three others holding guns got inside.
It seemed these people were his confidants, while the others wielding cold weapons could only ride beasts outside.
Su Ziyu followed along, rapidly learning their language.
With his ability, controlling these primitives would be very easy. However, he didn’t want to alert them, especially after seeing the cybernetic enhancements implanted in their brains. Su Ziyu wasn’t sure if these devices had any special function.
Half a day passed just like that.
Su Ziyu learned their language at an astonishing speed and gathered from their conversation that these people truly came from a primitive tribe.
The man leading them was the tribe chief.
However, he preferred others to call him "Knight," a title clearly used only in feudal kingdoms.
The sky was getting darker.
After traveling continuously for nearly over a hundred kilometers, a peculiar and strange settlement appeared within Su Ziyu’s view.
A glance his way.
The first thing he saw was the shell of a ruined spaceship, resembling the aft part, approximately fifty meters long and twenty meters wide. Its surface was severely damaged, with many useful parts removed, leaving only an empty metal frame. Next to the wreckage, a wall of piled metal stood, topped with several watchtowers and mounted machine guns, although their styles were very outdated, like World War II surplus modified and installed there.
The buildings within the settlement were extremely chaotic, the most striking being a three-story small villa, lavishly decorated with marble tiles, a delicate little garden, along with a fountain and statues, resembling a medieval noble’s residence.
However, surrounding this villa was a large area of low houses and simple tents, the streets were filthy with dried and coagulated bloodstains scattered on the ground.
"The tribe chief has returned." Upon seeing the hovercar, the dark-skinned guard at the gate opened the metal door with a flattering expression.
Inside was an elevator, which he seemed to struggle with before finally operating correctly.
"How are those slaves doing?"
"The empire’s people will be here soon!" the tribe chief asked, now donned in medieval noble attire.
The guard quickly replied, "All the others are alive."
"Only one died."
The tribe chief nodded in satisfaction, then frowned as he looked at the ground after passing through the gate, saying, "Send someone to clean up the bloodstains."
"Yes." The guard replied promptly.
At this moment, Su Ziyu quietly entered the primitive tribe, curiously observing the surroundings, his gaze landing on a middle-aged woman not far away who was sewing clothing with a bone pendant on her lips.
Beside the middle-aged woman was a damaged mechanical arm covered in blood and flesh.
In the corner, there lay a knife.
"Cannibal Race?" Su Ziyu’s eyebrows slightly furrowed.
He saw a small pile of bones and human skulls being used as ornaments.
Upon realizing outsiders had returned, the dark-skinned middle-aged woman quickly hid the objects in the corner, then approached the back of the group with three or four seven- to eight-year-old children. A man wearing sharp tooth jewelry on his chest jumped down from a tall beast.
Inside the tribe, there was a clear division; half actually consisted of primitives living in simple tents beside enclosures for poultry, with filthy, cluttered ground full of feces and filth.
The other half had lifestyles more akin to the medieval period, dressed more properly, living in brick and tile houses.
But their skin color was identical, and their facial outlines suggested they belonged to the same race.
At this moment.
The tribe chief pulled out a small, refined silver-white communicator, spoke a few words in a sycophantic tone, then waved his hand for others to drag out some cages.
The cages held some prisoners, mostly primitives of the same race, dark-skinned with large skulls. But the last cage contained two lighter-skinned humans, both males, one with a visible gunshot wound to the chest, treated but unable to stand.
"Put those rebel army people over there."
"Tie up the others." The tribe chief commanded with a fierce gaze.
Fifteen minutes quickly passed.
As Su Ziyu circled the tribe, he suddenly felt some commotion in the sky. Following was a swirling airflow, and a vessel resembling a cabin slowly descended.
The silver-white metallic hatch slowly opened.
The first out was a gaunt old man dressed in medieval attire, wearing a gentleman’s hat. His expression seemed slightly displeased. He frowned at the dirty ground before walking down with disdain, raising his head with a scornful look toward the tribe chief, saying, "Where are the goods?"
