Chapter 681: Genius!

Cascading lightning, as thick as waterfalls, writhed wildly behind Pang Jian, their jagged arcs crackling with chaotic menace.

From a distance, these multicolored lightning bolts looked like bizarre tendrils stretching his body, pulsing in a strange, rhythmic harmony with his every movement.

The lightning came not only from Thunder God Mountain but also from the vast palace beneath his feet.

Pang Jian looked like a reborn Duke of Thunder as he stood atop the palace with his ten-thousand-zhang-tall Immortal Divine Soul.

"You're just a second-rate Water God." He smiled sardonically.

The five elements of Metal, Wood, Water, Fire, and Earth transformed into golden, green, white, crimson, and black light, respectively.

These strange lights flowed between his five fingers as he reached for Meng Wa's neck, forming a seal that bound Meng Wa's massive body in place.

"Soul Restraint!"

Meng Wa was about to awaken the latent power of her bloodline when her soul suddenly trembled. The crushing weight of Pang Jian's Heavenly Daos suppressed her, severing the connection between her soul and body.

A searing agony consumed her.

Her thick neck, covered in green-blue scales, was firmly caught in Pang Jian's colossal hand. His five elemental Heavenly Daos seeped through her scales and into her flesh.

The divine techniques of the five Fey Emperors Pang Jian had obtained from the Fifth World of the Abyss firmly restrained her bloodline and limbs.

Meng Wa was completely immobilized!

Lei Ying and Lei Fan watched in astonishment as Pang Jian's towering form effortlessly dragged the massive serpent away from Thunder God Mountain.

Pang Jian did not even need to use the Thunder Pool to defeat Meng Wa.

"I believe it now," Lei Ying murmured, licking her lips. "I heard that he single-handedly killed a mid-ranking God of the Ghost Race up in the starry skies. I didn't buy it at the time. I thought there had to be more to the story. But now? I believe him."

Lei Fan's gaze was still locked firmly on Pang Jian.

He never believed that they could overcome the three Fey Gods and had only planned to fight as a last resort.

The only reason he came was because Lei Ying made it clear that she had already told Pang Jian about the three Fey Gods' collusion with He Motian.

As a powerhouse of the Thunder Race, her actions were enough to represent the will of the entire race. Regardless of whether he agreed with her actions, Pang Jian already knew, and there was nothing he could do to change that.

Left with no other choice, Lei Fan had reluctantly joined her.

As expected, the Fey Race showed their true fangs. The three Fey Gods did not hesitate to slaughter the Thunder Race.

Lei Fan resolved to fight to the death if it meant carving out even the faintest path of survival for his race.

When he saw Pang Jian's overwhelming might, however, he realized he would not have to die after all. A surge of joy and relief rose within him.

"You were right. There was never any hope for us unless we fought," Lei Fan conceded, a deep respect in his eyes as he stared at Pang Jian. Raising his voice, he shouted, "My presence here won't tip the scales, but I can make a difference elsewhere!

"Lei Ying, stay in touch. I'll head for the cities and strongholds to cut down those Rank Nine Fey Kings!"

Tossing out a small Lightning Skiff, he departed without another word.

"I'm starting to think I won't be needed in this battle either." Lei Ying chuckled awkwardly as she watched Lei Fan vanish beyond the bounds of Thunder God Mountain. "Perhaps that girl was right. The Abyss really is a level above the Thunder Abyss."

Lei Ying remembered Li Yuqing's words clearly. The Fey Gods of the Abyss were stronger than the Thunder Abyss because the latter lacked both Fortune and Corruption.

Glancing at Li Yuqing, Lei Ying saw her facing the Vermilion Bird with her Pearl of Fate in hand. The Fey God's spirit was unraveling, its once-brilliant eyes dimming as its flames and lightning sputtered out.

All it had done was look at the stone pearl, and its strength poured out like a broken dam.

Li Yuqing had not even drawn her sword yet!

Lei Ying could already imagine it. Once the Vermilion Bird was weakened, Li Yuqing would slay it in one clean strike.

Not far off, Pang Jian stood before the unicorn, gripping Meng Wa by the neck as if she were nothing more than an earthworm. Her long, serpentine body hung limp, not even twitching in resistance.

Is she already dead?" Lei Ying wondered.

Meng Wa ruled her dominion within the Thunder Abyss with ruthless tyranny, drinking the blood of other races like wine.

Outside her loyal followers, no other living beings in the Thunder Abyss dared to approach her territories, regarding them as the most terrifying, blood-soaked corners of the Thunder Dragon.

This vicious Water God did not so much as flinch as Pang Jian dragged her around by the neck.

The gap in power between them had to be incredibly vast.

In their golden age, the human race of the Abyss had shattered the Hall of Gods, provoking the wrath of the other divine beings. Despite this, their legacy still burned persistently across the boundless starry skies.

The human race also continued to hold dominion as the ruling power over the Abyss.

It's no wonder the Outer Gods fear them, Lei Ying mused, a deep sense of awe welling up within her. With power like this, I'm not surprised the Outer Gods want them wiped out.

Their Thunder Race was one of many foreign races in the starry skies and was nominally part of the great alliance.

However, in the Duke of Thunder's extreme pursuit of his Dao, they had drawn the ire of the Ghost and Demon Races, causing them to join forces to suppress them.

The Thunder Race seemed even worse off than the human race, even despite the Outer Gods actively targeting the latter.

The human race dared to stand alone against the Outer God in a show of unmatched courage.

Lei Ying could not help but wonder if the Thunder Race could embody a similarly dauntless spirit as well.

After this battle, I'll build up the strength to break through the barrier and soar into the starry skies! Lei Ying silently vowed. The Thunder Race cannot be fated to vanish into the river of time. I simply refuse to believe it!

Lei Ying's ambition and courage surged as she watched Pang Jian and Li Yuqing.

"None of you are worthy of being compared to the Thunderveil Godbeast," Pang Jian said coldly, still firmly gripping the Water God of the Thunder Abyss. "At least the Thunderveil Godbeast had something to stand for.

"He sought to defy the imposed fate of one's bloodlines. That was worthy of respect.

"But you all..."

Pang Jian glanced down at Meng Wa with a disdainful look.

"You call yourself a Water God?"

Threads of golden light, previously dormant within Meng Wa's body, suddenly flared with overwhelming sword intent.

Fey Emperor Jin Yu's and Pang Jian's Daos of Metal bloomed within the threads of golden light, imbuing them with his will.

Meng Wa's serpent body was carved into pieces in the blink of an eye, her blood and remains raining down from the skies.

"She really was weak," Pang Jian muttered. "The Nine-Headed Bird was far stronger."

Li Yuqing had not been exaggerating when she called the Fey Gods of the Thunder Abyss inferior. Without Fortune or Corruption, these Fey Gods could never compare to those of the Abyss.

It was no wonder that beings like Luo Hongyan, He Motian, Zi Mo, and even the Primordial Demon coveted the Fortune and Corruption of the Abyss.

Fortune and Corruption granted an immense boost to one's divine power, Divine Persona, and heart. They were truly invaluable.

"Sword of Fate!" Li Yuqing cried.

The Heaven-Splitting Sword drew a brilliant river of light across the sky. The river of light then vanished into the Vermilion Bird's forehead, destroying its soul and body.

At that moment, the Vermilion Bird finally tore its eyes away from the Pearl of Fate, but it was too late.

Its soul had lingered in the illusion too long, leaving its will adrift and scattered. It could no longer rally its focus or summon the power of its bloodline to resist. All it could do was watch as its future was shattered into pieces.

The shards of its future were filled with nothingness.

There was no longer any future left for it to see. The Vermilion Bird was fated to die on this day. The paths that once lay ahead were all empty.

Fate...

A divine technique so unfathomable it borders on the supernatural.

The heavens truly favor the human race of the Abyss.

That was the final thought of the Vermilion Bird.

Li Yuqing scoffed when she heard its lament.

Favored? If the heavens truly favored the human race, they would've never condemned us to the Abyss in the first place! There are endless worlds in the boundless starry skies, yet there's not a single one that we can call our own.

Are we humans meant to be caged in the Abyss forever?

I won't let that be our eternal fate! Li Yuqing thought defiantly.

Pang Jian flicked Meng Wa's blood from his hand and turned toward Li Yuqing.

"Did you stumble across some fortune?" he asked curiously. "Your growth and understanding of your innate Dao have progressed in ways I can only describe as miraculous."

Pang Jian was not surprised that an Immortal Realm cultivator managed to kill a Fey God, especially one from the Thunder Abyss, as the lack of Fortune and Corruption made them far inferior.

However, the ease with which Li Yuqing accomplished this feat was shocking.

"We can talk about it after we deal with that wretched unicorn," Li Yuqing said with a mischievous smile. "Do you want to handle it? Or shall I?"

Her joy and pride were apparent from the quirk at the corner of her lips. freewёbn૦νeɭ.com

For a long time, she was known as the sharpest sword in the Abyss.

When Pang Jian rose with unprecedented brilliance, his presence cast a shadow over her confidence, causing her to falter. His radiance had shaken her spirit and stirred feelings of self-doubt.

Those feelings nearly dulled her sword and clouded her heart.

The only way for her to regain her pride and lift her head high once more was to stand on equal footing with Pang Jian like this.

Having returned to the ranks of the strongest once more, she could finally face Pang Jian with bright eyes and an unwavering smile as before.

Li Yuqing had found her way again!

"Why don't you take this one?" Pang Jian suggested, seeing the fighting spirit burning in her eyes. "I'll support you from the sidelines. It'll give me a good look at how strong you've become. Besides, it's not like it can leave the Thunder Abyss. There's no way for it to escape."

Li Yuqing nodded, clearly pleased with his good sense. "Leave it to me."

In their eyes, the strongest Fey God of the Thunder Abyss was no more than a slab of meat on their cutting board.
