Chapter 725: Proud Geniuses

On the Dark Abyss Continent in the Third World, the presence of the demonic stone brought over from the Demon Abyss Continent had transformed Spirit Offering.

Any murky energy within a thousand-li radius was devoured and refined, giving rise to an intensely concentrated demonic energy.

The Demon Scale Race, the Demon Bull Race, and the members of the Demon Sect all gathered and operated within this region.

Near where the demonic stone rested, Xuan Ying, several Rank Nine Demon Scale Race warriors, and a few Immortal Realm elders from the Demon Sect were discussing serious matters when a demonic light suddenly descended from the sky.

Everyone shot to their feet in unison.

"Wu Yuan!"

Wu Yuan appeared before them, wearing pitch-black robes and a blank expression.

A cold gleam flickered through Xuan Ying's eyes. "Congratulations."

"Wu Yuan, you've ascended to godhood through the Dao of Demon! You should be fighting for us, not for Pang Jian or anyone else!" Elder Qu Long of the Demon Sect shouted angrily.

Elder Chen Xuanfeng added, "Lord He Motian placed great hopes in you. You can't let him down!"

The lower-ranking members of the Demon Sect, all below the Nirvana Realm, stared at Wu Yuan with admiration and awe.

The deaths of Sect Master Xiang Shengwei and the Patriarch of the Demon Scale Race, Li Bai, meant the forces gathered around the demonic stone had lost their core leaders. Without a leader, they had no clear direction, leaving them uncertain about the future.

Changes in the barrier of the Abyss meant they could no longer communicate with He Motian. The legendary Primordial Demon's whereabouts were also still unknown.

These confusing circumstances left many uneasy, and the news of Wu Yuan's ascension through Fortune stirred immense excitement among them.

Unfortunately for them, Wu Yuan did not return after becoming a True God, nor did he assume the role of leader as they hoped. Instead, he mysteriously vanished after his ascension.

When he did reappear, it was in the Pure Land Sect of all places, where he joined forces with Dong Tianze to suppress the ancient Thunder Dragon.

This left many deeply confused. After all, that ancient Thunder Dragon had already come to an agreement with the Sovereign in the Fifth World. They simply could not understand why Wu Yuan would help the Pure Land Sect subdue the ancient Thunder Dragon.

Wu Yuan ignored the stares and questions, walking straight toward the towering demonic stone.

"I've come for the Demon Lair," he said emotionlessly. "I have no interest in the struggle between the foreign races of the Fifth World and the human race."

He had no regard for He Motian, the Primordial Demon, and the supposed grand cause of the Dao of Demon. The only thing he cared about was himself.

Even if he had to name others, it would be Li Zhaotian and Pang Jian. The former granted his ascension to godhood through Fortune, and the latter had accompanied him through countless battles.

His and Dong Tianze's battle against Long Xiao made him acutely aware of his shortcomings. While reflecting on methods to counter Thunder Gods like Long Xiao, his thoughts drifted back to the demonic stone known as the Demon Lair.

With the restrictions of the barrier still in place, He Motian's divine consciousness could not yet recklessly breach the Abyss and influence him.

Pang Jian, trusting him and Dong Tianze, had kept little from them. He told them about the ongoing clash between two Sovereigns in the Seventh World and even informed them about the Primordial Demon's involvement.

He Motian's divine consciousness could not descend, and the Primordial Demon focused on the Seventh World. In other words, this was the perfect time to unravel the mysteries of the Demon Lair and claim it for himself.

If he succeeded, his strength would reach a new level. At that point, He Motian's divine consciousness would likely no longer have any sway over him, even if the restrictions on the barrier were to fall.

"Wu Yuan! The Demon Sect made you what you are today. Show some gratitude!" a Nirvana Realm elder from the Demon Heart Sect shouted furiously. "Sect Master and Li Bai are dead. You're our leader in the Abyss. You have to shoulder that responsibility!"

"I'm not Pang Jian. I don't shoulder responsibilities that aren't mine," Wu Yuan said coolly, fixing the elder with a long, icy stare. "You're courting death."

A swath of green-purple demonic runes surfaced in the elder's sea of consciousness, manifesting as an overwhelming desire for death.

Dozens of heart-shaped demonic souls and clouds imploded within the elder's body and sea of consciousness.

The elder had ended his own life.

A wave of fear swept through the crowd.

"Don't bother me again."

With that, Wu Yuan stepped onto the Demon Lair. He intended to refine it and forge it into a powerful demonic artifact that belonged solely to him.

Also on the Dark Abyss Continent, a slender figure shrouded in a bloody haze drifted through the halls of the Sinister Soul Temple before finally coming to a halt in front of a secluded cave residence.

Yu Qing of the Celestial Race and several Celestial Race elites kept a close eye on his every move, their white wings flapping in the air.

"Even Rank Ten powerhouses from the Fifth World are powerless against me without that Sovereign or Fire God Yan Lie to back them. Besides, none of them are here right now," Dong Tianze said darkly.

He did not even glance at the Celestial Race warriors behind him, eyes fixed on the cave residence where he once cultivated in seclusion.

Like Wu Yuan, he had little interest in the struggle between the human race and the foreign races. There were only a handful of people and things he truly cared about. Han Zhiyuan and the Sinister Soul Temple were among these few exceptions.

The foreign race warriors responsible for killing Han Zhiyuan were nothing more than a few Rank Seven and Rank Eight Ghost Race warriors. Before coming to the Dark Abyss Continent, he made sure to pay them a visit on the Cosmic Skies Continent.

The Radiant Race and Flame Race warriors could do nothing but watch in terror as he unleashed his slaughter, not daring to approach him, let alone attack.

With his strength, the foreign races and heretical cultivators no longer mattered. They could be ignored entirely.

It did not matter that he was a Blood God, following a so-called heretical path. Even the major factions of the First World and the powerful cultivators who once openly denounced him fell silent after his ascension.

When he killed the Ghost Race warriors responsible for Han Zhiyuan's death on the Cosmic Skies Continent, the Radiant Race and the Flame Race watched on the sidelines, not daring to interfere.

The reason for this was evident.

Dong Tianze had become one of the True Gods of the Abyss. Neither the supposedly righteous cultivators nor the foreign race elites of the lower worlds could do anything to him, so they chose silence.

"What exactly do you intend to do?" Yu Qing asked.

"Cultivate. In the cave I'm familiar with," Dong Tianze said coldly. "I don't care about your plans. As long as you don't provoke me, you'll live."

Yu Qing was taken aback. "Cultivate?"

With Dong Tianze's strength, he could cultivate anywhere. There was no reason for him to choose this particular cave in the Sinister Soul Temple.

Yu Qing had many questions, but it was clear that Dong Tianze had no intention of answering them. Yu Qing and the other Celestial Race elites eyed the Blood God warily as he stepped into the dusty cave.

"The Ghost Altar is missing," Dong Tianze muttered in dissatisfaction.

Heading to an empty corner, he sat down quietly, ignoring the thick layer of dust beneath him and the spiderwebs crisscrossing his view.

A lone bee hovered silently above one of the unique spatial rifts in the bizarre mist of Absolute Heaven in the Second World.

Other bees were similarly stationed at the other unique spatial rifts as well.

There had been no new visitors from the starry skies for a long time since Dong Tianze and Wu Yuan's departure. The foreign race warriors seemed to have realized that entering this place meant certain death.

After all, none who entered ever returned, and they eventually stopped trying.

A figure in green robes suddenly passed through one of the unique spatial rifts on a sword.

Li Yuqing had finally returned to the Abyss.

The golden bee's eyes lit up. "Miss Li, welcome home to the Abyss."

"Who are you?" Li Yuqing asked, startled.

"I'm the Sovereign of these Spirit Bees," the golden bee replied, its tone light as if smiling. "My master is Pang Jian. He instructed me to wait for your return, saying that one day you would pass through this spatial rift and I was to receive you."

Li Yuqing's lips curved into a gentle smile. "Thank you for going through the trouble."

The entire trip back had a dreamlike quality that still left her in awe. After parting ways with Pang Jian outside the Thunder Abyss, she followed the Pearl of Fate back to the Abyss. Along the way, she encountered many Outer Gods.

These Outer Gods, mostly from the Ghost and Demon Races, lingered near the boundary walls of the Abyss to ambush Pang Jian.

Though she encountered low-ranking, mid-ranking, and even high-ranking Gods, none had attacked her. Instead, they gave her a wide berth, avoiding her as if she exuded a deadly venom.

Thus, despite the many Outer Gods, her journey through the bizarre mist had been astonishingly smooth, and she arrived at the boundary wall of the Abyss without incident.

A Ghost Race warrior had even stepped forward to guide her to a spatial rift on the boundary wall, leaving her feeling strangely as though she were one of the foreign races herself.

Only later did she realize that the God of Fate, her generous backer, held unfathomable authority. No Outer God dared to provoke a person that the God of Fate had chosen, even if they were a human.

The golden bee gave a lighthearted buzz. "Come with me. I'll guide you out of the bizarre mist."

"Alright."

A young girl in green hovered on her sword above the volcanoes surrounding the Divine Treasure Sect.

"Li Jie, get things ready for me. I'm going to ascend to godhood!" she shouted, voice ringing out through the sect.

"Sis! Big Sis!" Li Jie burst out of a hall, face dark and streaked with tears. "The old man's dead! He died in the Fifth World!"

"I know," Li Yuqing said, her expression tinged with sorrow. "But you and I are still alive. The Divine Treasure Sect still stands, and so does the Li Family."

Li Jie wiped his eyes. "I thought you were dead too..."

"I'm not that easy to kill." Li Yuqing snorted coldly. Glancing at the sect elders rushing out from their residence, she straightened her back and declared, "As long as I'm alive, the Divine Treasure Sect won't fall! Once I ascend to godhood and carve out my place in this world, our Li Family will rise higher than ever before!"
