Triple X System-Chapter 183: Making an example
Silence befell the room after the last of the guards word. Shock, disbelief, and a hint of hope swirling in the feared king eyes. Once dull look painted grey and void now renewed with somewhat color.
Ban!
Not uttering a word he disappeared from spot. Leaving behind a trail of dust which soon vanished.
Well well.. now this just keeps getting interesting. A smirk formed on Ronan’s face his body also vanishing from spot.
.....
My arms are killing me. A male guard whined clutching his left arm.
Don’t be such a crybaby or the king will have your head! The female besides him scowled with an irritated glare.
In her hands were two small buckets and a pair of brushes and rollers coated in paint. They had just finished painting the section of the wall assigned to them. And were currently on their way to their stations for yet another daunting task.
Who cares? I’d rather take my chances with the king than paint another freaking wall! He yelled not hiding his dissatisfaction.
Tsk~ I’d rather be paired with a mule than such a whiny wimp.
Snorting she increased her pace causing the considerably thin man to chase after her.
Phoigh! W-what the hell Gina!? We’re meant to stick together. I mean there are rumors this castle walls are-
He paused slightly shivering with a pale face.
Haunted.. rex spoke in a hushed tone.
Gina? What happened why’d you - his voice ceased feeling the ground beneath him rattling a bit. Even the portraits and priceless artifacts hing on the wall shook.
Get down! Acting fast he shoved Gina to the ground along with himself. Just in time to avoid an incoming object. Shooting past them with blinding speed sweeping up a trail of dust behind.
What the hell was that!?
I-i don’t know. Probably another attack? She stuttered regaining herself. Getting to their feet the air surrounding them suddenly turned hot.
Followed by yet another figure blazing past them with equivalent astonishing speed like the first. Sending them to the floor along with some objects.
.....
Can it be? Did he really complete the mission? The thought was like a double edged sword coursing through Troy’s mind.
It felt so unreal yet realistic at the same time.
Considering his status and high prestige it was never in the cards to send Kyle. A peasant who just arrived few days ago to rescue not one but both his daughters.
The thought itself was absurd and would never have been considered. But considering the circumstances he was left with no choice.
But still.. could he really defeat Lynn singlehandedly? It was a question that pondered like a plague at the back of his mind.
Not only was Lynn strong but also terrifying and cunning. Earning her the name evil Lynn. But adding her ability was just an overpowered cheat to begin with.
The guard mentioned five individuals. Did he form alliances along the journey. It wasn’t that much of a surprise to acquire temporary help. For the right price of course but Kyle was broke.
Even if he decided to sell the artifacts borrowed by the kingdom it wouldn’t work. As each artifact crafted by the royals had a significant insignia embedded into it.
Taking a left he opted for the stairs dashing past the long floors in no time. Reaching the ground floor there were dozens of guards stationed at the entrance.
Clear way! He ordered not stopping in his steps.
It’s the king.. move aside! Recognizing his voice they made way for his passage.
Moving through the crowd his feet came to a halt arriving before 5 unconscious individuals.
Lumia. His voice was light carried by the wind. His knees crashing to the ground with a soft thud embracing his daughter and heir to the throne.
Lynn. A soft chuckle escaped his mouth staring at his first daughter. And former heir to the kingdom.
Extending his right hand he slowly pulled her close to him. Tightly embracing both young women in a warm hug.
Y-your majesty.. ona softly uttered appearing besides him. Her expression was that of shock and disbelief sighting both princesses.
H-he did it.. he actually brought them back. There were several scars and bruises on their bodies but nothing severe. Which was unexpected to say the least.
I’ll leave the safety of the kingdom in your hands ona. Troy said picking both daughter’s in a princess carriage bolting across the room.
Ehmm! That’s enough sightseeing for one-day. Am sure we’re all excited that both princesses are back. She said earning low murmurs amongst the group of soldiers.
Excited, she almost destroyed the kingdom! One soldier yelled the opposite of excited.
Yeah.. even the king wasn’t spared. Another roared.
And now that she’s back are we just going to pretend she wasn’t our enemy and accept her with open arms!?
Err.. well. That is for the king to decide. Ona awkwardly chuckled leaning back a bit.
She couldn’t deny there was truth in the guards words.
Yes she was the king’s daughter but was also responsible for the many catastrophies befalling the kingdom. And while some may forgive a large majority wouldn’t.
Her actions were just undefinable and cruel to say the least. Taking the lives of many guards and citizens for her mad quest of revenge.
Decide? For all I know the king seems to be a little confused lately. Painting walls? Decorating the castle? Tsk.. what a joke. The guard that’d spoken earlier voiced out with a smug look.
Lieutenant wheeler. I understand your frustration but the king must have his reasons for such actions. Ona calmly said stepping forward with a neutral expression.
The kingdom has suffered far too many blows from her. And if you ask me the king isn’t in the right mind to issue out proper verdict.
So what are you implying? We take matters into our hand and convict her? Ona frowned clenching her first.
As the king right hand she didn’t only serve as the head of security and defenses but also the king’s personal assistant. Which included his spokesperson, bodyguard.
I understand your hesitation ona. I get it. We sworre our loyalty to the king. Wheeler paused making his way to ona. His light autumn hair brimming under the serene lighting.
His aura was calm and inviting, like an irresistible connection drawing you closer to him.
But we also pledged allegiance to the kingdom to uphold justice. And as soldiers we must keep our promise.. no matter who.
But- She tried speaking but failed to utter a single word. Mumbling in an inaudible dialogue.
She’s loosing control over her reasoning. All those gold coins for that mind control skill was worth it after all. A sly grin tug on his face seeing his plan slowly taking effect.
Soldiers of Lumia kingdom! I stand here before you not as a superior, but a fellow comrade.
His tone soft head held high with the upmost humbled gaze. One look at him and one could tell he was a noble at first glance.
One born from a family of high prestige and power. Easily earning him a high ranking amongst the royal guards.
We are all aware of the unprecedented happenings during this few weeks. He said to which they nodded.
Eyes of admiration locked onto this charming individual.
And the impact made not only to the kingdom but individually. Now I understand the king reasons and while I cannot oppose him I can question his decisions however.
Turning to ona a smug grin appeared to his lips quickly disappearing as it came.
As a noble and citizen I am bound to the law, same with every citizen of Lumia kingdom. So I don’t see it fair if the king’s decides to hand out special pardons to preferred personnels irrespective of profile.
He paused letting his words sink into their ears. Low murmurs and talks spun from the crowd of guards present growing louder.
Not only does the king take advantage of us but also wouldn’t blink twice to end our lives. But now he’s suddenly had a change of heart for that traitor of a daughter? A male guard whispered.
Yeah but she is the former heir to the throne.
Who gives a shit!? She’s tried to end our lives multiple times! I say we judge her by the book!
There were mixed debate on deciding Lynn’s future. A majority of the crowd in favour of Wheeler’s choice. While a small fraction had other less harsh opinions.
Swoosh!
A gist of air swept through the room, pushing the nearby guards to the ground. There in front stood a man in dark attire. In his hand was none other than the proud luitenant dangling some feet from the ground.
Wh-what happened? Ona softly muttered gently clutching her head. She recalled speaking with the luitenant before her head suddenly turned dizzy.
Like a cloud of fog enveloping her mind gradually blocking her sense of reasoning.
Crk- l-et.. go
A weak voice snapped her attention to the scene unfolding some few steps away.
Ronan what are you doing!? She frowned demanding an answer.
Not responding the young man simply tilted her head to the side. A sly grin forming to his face.
Making an example.
