Chapter 187: No pain no gain

I’m not feeling a connection with her ability. Marley slightly gulped a bead of sweat sliding down her cheek.

Abilities being supernatural powers granted the users extraordinary feets. From physical buffs, to elemental damage and so on. Some covering a broad scale while some covered much smaller scale.

But the damage if abilities weren’t determined by the range of coverage upon activation. But the effect it had upon not only it’s target but surrounding environment.

He’s launching an attack. Marley thought watching wheeler suddenly crouch down a bit. Arching his roght leg back a bit he assumed a sprinting position.

The muscles in his body becoming more tense with thick veins popping in view.

This is the same technique he used against ona.

There was no doubt about it experiencing him perform the same move. She couldn’t tell if it was a skill or just his plain agility. But one thing was for sure.

Don’t get caught in his path!

Her body inwardly screamed to run to dodge this hit.

As soon as he moves I’ll have to evade. Clenching her fist she narrowed her sight at the charging luitenant.

Bam!

The ground beneath wheelers feet cracked under the explosive pressure released by him. His thick metal legs stomping into the ground creating leg imprints as he moved.

Fast. Marley’s eye widened at Wheeler’s terrifying speed. It was no doubt higher than his previous speed combined.

Adding strength to her legs she didn’t sidestep or run some few meters away. Instead taking a big jump landing some few meters away from Wheeler’s running trajectory.

That was close. She sighed a relieved seeing her plan successfully worked.

Huh? Her eyes widened touching her cheek.

Blood!? I still got hit even after leaping away. Before wheeler stomped his foot Marley’s senses were on keen alert. Right to the instance his muscles tensed and he shot out like a bullet.

Her mind was working non-stop calculating all the worst possible scenarios. It was certain death if she got got in Wheeler’s attack. And blocking or counter attacking wasn’t such a good idea.

But evading didn’t also guarantee her safety as she wasn’t just dealing with anyone but one of the luitenant’s.

Damnit! He’s really trying to kill ona. Marley frowned noticing Wheeler’s intent.

That was impressive. Not one has managed to block that skill let alone escape without a limb or more severed. Wheeler’s voice echoed in the grand castle.

He’s already regained himself!?

Not only had wheeler crashed into a total of 5 pillers. Destroying them upon impact but he’d also recovered from such attack within the fraction of a second.

I can tell your speed and strength are the same as before. Even your aura didn’t flicker as you somehow not only healed yourself but recovered your mana. Wheeler mischievously smiled placing his hand to his chin.

Judging from your aura and appearance you definitely look like her. But, you’re not ona. Am i right? Wheeler calmly spoke making Marley’s brows twitch.

He knows... There was no doubt wheeler had caught on to her trick. Which meant she couldn’t clinge on to her previous strategy.

Judging from the shocked look on your face I’ll take that as a yes. His smile broadened.

You must be wondering how i knew. Well, though your speed and strength is the same as her’s you ran away just now.

Something she would never do. He calmly spoke, stomping his left leg to the ground.

Shit! Marley cursed feeling the change in air as wheeler activated the skill yet again.

She’d thought he needed to charge it, hence the sprinting position and tensing of muscles. But unfortunately she was wrong, and going to be punished.

Bam! Wheeler’s body moved like a blur in a straight line finding it’s target. Crashing straight into marley disguised as ona’s body.

The ground beneath them cracked with spider crack lines spreading. Fake ona’s body sent flying backwards colliding with a wall.

Too strong. Marley coughed up a mouthful of fresh blood. She could feel a rib or two broken but it wasn’t intense to keep her down.

I still have about less than 3 minutes before the time duration of my ability elapses. Clenching her jaw she pulled through standing her ground with the red sword tightly clenched in it.

You survived my attack. Impressive.. wheeler applauded with upmost sincerity. But, your internal organs must be screaming in pain. Added the broken bones in your body.

Stretching his left leg back Marley instinctively took a big leap back. Landing on top of a pillar, planning her next move.

Stay still! Wheeler roared enraged taking the same stance as before. His muscles contradicting together exploding with such raw power causing the room to shake slightly.

Boom!

A small explosion occured below with half if the pillar destroyed. The upper part crumbling down with ona still on it.

I’m still locked out from her ability. Marley frowned still not being able to successfully activate ona’s ability.

Attempting to jump she instinctively crossed both her hand at her chest.

Bam!

A fist connected with her chest sending her flying back. The steel luitenant standing proudly with a smug grin.

She might’ve shapeshifted into ona and mimicked her strength and speed. But she can’t use her ability.

It was simple logic knowing whoever it was aimed to distract him long enough. While the other accomplice safely got ona out of harms way.

But for some reason she didn’t match ona’s fighting style nor instinct. Greatly putting her at a disadvantage against him. Though there was a trump card, which was ona’s unknown ability.

Which hadn’t been activated by ona before her apparent evacuation.

Could it be she can’t use her ability or fighting style since she’s an imposter? It was a solid theory but it didn’t matter.

You’re going to die. Softly landing to the ground he boldly made his way towards ona. She looked to be struggling in pain from his earlier punch.

You’re in no condition to fight any longer. Just give it up and I’ll grant you a swift death. He spoke with a crazed grin.

Raising her head up to meet his gaze blood flowed down the deep cut from the side of her head. Staining her uniform with patches of red liquid.

Her right hand gripping the red sword with several crack lines running along it. While her left clutched her rib.

It’s not over yet. Without warning she moved from spot. The bones in her body making crack noises with each step. Gritting her teeth she persevered refusing to accept defeat.

That’s it.. entertain me! Wheeler yelled clenching both fist tightly releasing a barrage of air fists.

Bam! Bam! Bam!

His fists recoiled like a cannon with each powerful blow enough to create a hole in the wall. Steadying her breath marley moved with precision avoiding the first incoming strikes.

Slashing the sword at the rest air blows making her way to wheeler.

How is she still standing? Wheeler wondered intrigued by how much strength she contained.

Now close wheeler dismissed his long range air strikes focusing on hand to hand combat.

Punching with his right hand ona blocked with the sword following up by kicking his guts. It was ineffective fracturing some bones in her legs but she didn’t care.

Weak! Wheeler scoffed at Marley’s futile attempts. When she’d charged forward he thought things was finally getting interesting but unfortunately he was wrong.

Phough! Marley coughed up fresh blood chucked up a bit in the air by wheelers kick. Using the momentum with his feet still to her guts to slam her backwards.

Not stopping he threw out 4 air fists, picking up some derbies of walls and pillars. Hurling them all at ona midflight.

Shit. Ona cursed parring his air fists with the red sword. The crack lines running along the sword spread rapidly with each strike. But she couldn’t stop understanding the aftermath.

Ahh! A sharp groan escaped Marley’s lips colliding into a half erect pillar. Her senses were on high alert ignoring the pain directed towards the incoming threat.

What’s this strange energy? Looking down the red sword was now glowing making a sizzling sound. Trusting her senses she swung the swird down vertically towards the approaching objects.

Out from the sword a thin red line of unknown energy was dispersed. Moving with great speed colliding with the first piece of shattering it to pieces. Doing the same for the others, dispersing at the last.

That attack.. was it her ability. It was clear the strange energy potruded from the red sword. But it didn’t match with her aura, debunking the idea of it being her ability.

I still have about a minute left. Her right leg was now numb from her previous kick. Along with some broken bones and internal bleeding around her gut region.

But the resolve in her eyes burned with such vigor. Supporting herself up she leaned on the half pillar.

He’s not attacking like before? Could he be scared. Wheeler’s face said it all. The confident and arrogant look in his eyes replaced with a more cautious one.

Haha! Who would’ve ever thought a low rank guard would ever cause this much trouble. She lightly smiled dragging her feet across the floor. Droplets of blood tricked from her forehead to the ground in a straight trail.

No pain no gain~ she inwardly muttered staring at the ceiling some few seconds.

What’s wrong old man? Scared to loose your dignity to a woman!? She taunted making Wheeler’s face contort into a frown.
