Twin Treasures: The CEO Wife's 99-Day of Revelations-Chapter 1120: It’s Not Your Fault
Just after Jocelyn Morgan left, Ian Shelby’s phone rang.
He glanced at the caller ID, his hands continued to type on the keyboard, and soon a slip with a QR code streamed out of the printer.
It was Jocelyn Morgan’s hospitalization paperwork.
"Hello." Ian Shelby picked up the phone and swiped to answer.
"Ian, why haven’t you come back yet?" Vera Ford’s gentle voice came through, "Didn’t you say you wouldn’t be working overtime today?"
"A patient came in just as I was leaving." Ian tore off a piece of the slip for his own records, "Anything else?"
Vera didn’t mention cooking but asked, "Then around what time do you think you’ll be done for the day?"
"Not sure yet."
"..." Vera thought for a moment, "Alright, I understand." After saying that, she hung up voluntarily.
In the villa, Vera put down her phone and started packing the meals. She had no complaints and wore a smile, seeming quite pleased with doing this.
Home-cooked meals, homemade soup, and then delivering them in person; he would definitely be very touched, right?
If the situation with this patient was really tricky, she could even help him out.
Quickly, she packed everything that needed packing, cleaned up the kitchen, and drove to the hospital.
At the hospital.
The ward wasn’t very large, just enough to accommodate one bed. By the window, there was a sofa, a bathroom and a small kitchen, conveniently like an apartment.
"Dr. Shelby, your design here is quite humane." Jocelyn Morgan sat with her shoes off at the head of the bed, looking at Ian Shelby who was applying medicine to her knee.
"It’s average, you’re exaggerating." While applying the medicine, Ian inadvertently noticed a hole in her sock, with her big toe sticking out.
He hesitated slightly, raised his eyes to look at the girl, and met her eyes full of spirit.
Jocelyn closed her mouth, amusement in her eyes.
Ian told her, "This medicine is good. Apply it once tonight, once tomorrow morning, and check by afternoon. If you can walk, then discharge; if not, stay another night."
"Alright."
Jocelyn picked up her phone to call Hailey Hale, "Sis, I’m not coming back tonight, a little incident happened. Do you need my company?"
"What’s wrong with you?" Hailey sounded quite concerned, "Jocelyn, where are you?"
"I’m fine, I’m with a friend," the girl said with a smile, not wanting her to worry, "I might be back to you tomorrow afternoon."
"That’s fine, being with your friend is good." Hailey told her, "My mom came over, she’ll stay here tonight, actually I can manage alone."
They chatted briefly before ending the call.
Jocelyn put down her phone and noticed her sock had a hole! Her eyes widened in embarrassment! Utterly awkward!
She tucked her toes deeper under the covers.
Ian reached out to grab the blanket and covered her directly, "Girls should clip their nails often, otherwise they’re most likely to poke holes in their socks."
Pfft!
Why did he speak so bluntly?
Jocelyn looked embarrassed, unable to refute.
"Anything else?" Ian stood at the bedside holding the medicine bottle, asking earnestly.
"When are you off work?" 𝒻𝑟ℯℯ𝑤𝑒𝑏𝑛𝘰𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝒸𝑜𝘮
From her tone, he could tell she was at a loss on her own.
She probably had never been hospitalized before.
"How about your family?" Ian asked, "Would you contact your parents, have them come to keep you company?"
The simple question went straight to Jocelyn’s heart.
A trace of sadness flickered in her eyes, "I don’t have parents, they died in a car accident when I was very young."
Upon hearing this, Ian gazed at her intently, "I’m sorry."
"It’s not your fault!" Jocelyn lifted her eyes, brightly asking, "Could I borrow your computer for a bit? I haven’t updated today’s novel yet."
Ian didn’t answer immediately, as for him, the computer was very important.
It contained a lot of crucial data.
In the brief silence, Jocelyn realized this, quickly apologizing, "It’s okay if it’s inconvenient, missing an update for a day is no big deal, you go ahead!"
