Undying Warlord-Chapter 530 No Time
"Why are there so many books if I only need to read this many to get a perfect score for the Trial of the Wise?" Dilan asked after he had requested some help from the Old Librarian.
The old man with blue skin, grayish eyes, and frail body was willing to help Dilan as much as possible as long as he gave his best to succeed in the trials. That was the Old Librarian's condition to help, and Dilan was more than ready to fulfill it.
"Because the Trials are just a rough measurement for the knowledge, techniques, and combat prowess you will require to fight Veilures. They're not a direct indicator for you to think that you're ready to save the Universe from the Veils, or anything like that. You will always need to give 100% of your strength and exceed the expectations people have of you in order to become what we could have never become; the Guardians of the Universe!" The Old Man cautioned, raising one of his hands high in the air as if he had told a grand story about a hero and how he saved the damsel in distress, who was actually the Princess of a fallen kingdom.
Dilan could roughly estimate what the Old Librarian wanted to convey and that was enough for him to understand that it would take him far more than a perfect score to achieve everything he wanted to attain…the protection of his sisters, and the strength to do whatever he wanted, whenever he wanted.
"Have you read all the books inside the Library?" He thus asked, trying to make use of the Old Librarian's vast knowledge.
"Of course, I've read all of them. There are many interesting books in the library and if you have the time, you should also read all of them…though there are many repetitive facts that have been described in more difficult terms than necessary. Some books are truly badly written which makes me wonder if the author had any intention of teaching the reader. Rather, they wanted to show off what they were capable of understanding and comprehending…those disgraceful bastards!" The Librarian gritted his teeth in anger, throwing his fist into the air.
He started to curse the dead for making things more difficult than necessary. Dilan smiled when he saw this and the idea that had formed in his mind was slowly turning into a more vibrant and clear picture.
"In that case, can you help me a little bit? I am very interested in the books you've been talking about, but I am not good at comprehending difficult texts. Furthermore, I don't have a lot of time to learn everything in an efficient manner…" Dilan was ready to play the pitiful fool and he was ready to act as if his life was depending on it. Yet, just with one look at the Old Librarian's face and his proactive response, he figured that this was totally unnecessary.
"I will help you with everything I can, my fellow comrade!" The Old Librarian had waited countless years to find someone else, who was interested in the books he loved dearly.
So far, only he had been interested in the books, while everyone else was focused on their techniques and searching for ways to further improve them. The others were sparring with each other, advancing their techniques, and living the lives of true warriors that were truly unafraid of death, just for the Old Librarian to end up all by himself, surrounded only by the books he loved.
"I want to learn as much as possible, but I don't know where to start. Can you help me organize the books so that I can slowly gather more knowledge? I need to learn everything in the most efficient way and without any of those books that were created for the sole purpose of showing off!" Dilan requested, while putting on a farce to further please the Old Librarian, "I want to become more knowledgeable to make sure that I can aid in the evolution of the Universe while simultaneously saving it!"
He knew that it was not nice of him to con the Old Librarian, but it was the easiest way for him to get his hands on as much knowledge as possible in the shortest time. The Old Librarian would sort out the books that were duplicated and not necessary for him to learn, and he would provide him with the required books so that he could learn them slowly and steadily.
That was the perfect solution!
Dilan didn't have to feel too bad as well. He wanted to procure more knowledge and he was actually interested in the books the Old Librarian was talking about. It was just not as exaggerated as Dilan showcased, but that was not important!
"That can be easily done. I was just waiting for someone to ask exactly that!!" The Old Librarian exclaimed, swishing his hands in the air a few more times before a small metal bar with dozens of unique buttons manifested in the old man's hand.
He handed the metal bar over, pressed on a button and a holographic screen manifested out of the small slit in the side of the metal bar.
"You can press on any library collection you want, but the one you probably desire is the <All in One Package>! It won't disappoint you, believe me!!" The Old Librarian looked excited and he watched dazedly as Dilan pressed on the holographic screen. Covers consisting of more than a million books appeared in the collections of the package the Old Librarian had pointed out to him.
Dilan swallowed his saliva and he looked over to the brightly smiling Old Librarian before his head turned back once again.
'He is really excited. Just how lonely was he?' He began to wonder. Somehow he felt a little bit bad as well, but that quickly dispersed as he began to focus on the mission ahead. free𝒘ℯ𝗯𝙣𝗼ν𝑒𝗹.𝒄o𝒎
'With the Old Librarian's help, I will ace the first Trial, and become knowledgeable enough to figure out everything I have to know!' Dilan told himself, knowing deep down that the only thing he needed was time!
He needed the time to focus on studying every single book, which meant that there were more than a million books he had to read, and understand.
Sadly, time was not something Dilan possessed, nor could he magically conjure it even if he wanted to.
"Even if I read and understand one book a day in a perfect manner, I will need more than 2700 years to understand the content of a total of one million books…" Dilan mumbled and the Old Librarian nodded his head.
"That's how it is, exactly. And studying every single book in this library would require a total of 36,500,000 years with that logic. Fortunately, it doesn't take a day to understand a book, nor does time pass at the same speed as it does outside of the Universe!" The Old Librarian seemed to understand Dilan's concern so he tried to calm the young man down.
The prophecy said that the two chosen children wouldn't have the necessary time to grow stronger. They would be pressured to advance and become true monsters in the blink of an eye to preventing the destruction of the Universe.
And that was why the City of Trials was created with the purest form of energy that exists in the Universe; The Origin Energy!
