Chapter 308: Chapter 308: Revenge

Chloe Irving donned a suit and swiftly took down two of the bothersome watchdogs.

Seeing Seraphina Sinclair besieged by several burly men, she was instantly filled with fury, "Madam, I’m here to rescue you."

"Alright." Although Seraphina wasn’t sure why Chloe’s skills were so exceptional, having a helper was undoubtedly a blessing now.

Chloe’s strength was indeed formidable; petite yet her moves were cunning, and she quickly dealt with the men encircling Seraphina.

However, Lynch had anticipated this and promptly sent more men to block the way. He coldly instructed his subordinates, "No matter what, do not let Seraphina Sinclair go today. Use any means necessary to thoroughly humiliate her."

"Yes, Lynch." Those men seemed to be Lynch’s lackeys, obeying his words blindly and charging at Seraphina like rabid dogs.

Chloe’s skills were indeed good, but she couldn’t handle the overwhelming numbers, and no one could withstand such a relentless assault.

While engaging in combat, Seraphina also had to care for Fiona Dunn, inadvertently exposing her abdomen to a brutal punch.

She desperately tried to evade, but despite her quick retreat, the punch landed.

Instantly, she was seized by intense pain with her face turning pale.

One hand clutched her abdomen while the other supported Fiona Dunn.

Upon hearing Seraphina’s cries of pain, Chloe quickly turned around, only to be horrified by the scene before her.

"Madam, what happened to you?" Seeing blood continuously flowing from beneath Seraphina, Chloe panicked and rushed toward her without thinking. She was anxious and momentarily perplexed, unsure of what to do.

Seraphina clutched her abdomen, her gaze unfocused, "Chloe, my child, save my child."

"How could this happen?" Chloe was utterly stunned by the realization that Seraphina was pregnant. Judging by the significant blood loss, the child likely couldn’t be saved, and without immediate medical attention, Seraphina’s own life might be at risk.

Lynch hadn’t intended to cause a fatality; observing Seraphina’s severe bleeding, he panicked and immediately ordered his men to stop, retreating in haste.

This granted Chloe the time to contact Desmond Fairchild, who, upon receiving the news of Seraphina’s plight, promptly detached his IV, didn’t even bother changing clothes, and rushed toward the underground casino.

Keith Hughes, worried about Ian Lynch’s handling, was also en route to the casino.

The two met at the entrance but said nothing, heading straight for the casino.

Chloe spotted Desmond Fairchild from afar and immediately called for help, "Master Fairchild, you finally came! Madam, Madam seems to have miscarried, let’s quickly get her to the hospital."

Seeing the alarming amount of blood beneath Seraphina, Desmond’s eyes narrowed instantly, his heart almost stopping. Without further thought, he lifted Seraphina and headed out.

Keith, witnessing the scene, was stunned. He had already instructed Ian Lynch to take good care of Seraphina. Was this how he did it?

There was no time to ponder further; he only wanted to ensure Seraphina’s safety and quickly followed Desmond.

Seraphina was rushed to the hospital, where immediate surgery was deemed necessary upon assessment.

The doctor’s anxious gaze swept over Desmond and Keith, "Who is the patient’s family member? The patient is in critical condition and requires urgent surgery, please have the family sign."

"I am," they replied in unison.

"Exactly who is?" The doctor frowned, "The patient’s condition is severe and cannot afford delay."

Desmond quickly stepped forward, "I am her husband, I’ll sign."

After signing, he clutched the doctor’s arm, his eyes filled with fear, "Doctor, is she alright? What’s the surgery success rate?"

"The patient has been pregnant for five or six months and is experiencing heavy bleeding now. It’s not looking good. But the family shouldn’t worry too much. We’ll do everything we can to treat the patient, it’s our responsibility." The doctor said, then turned and left.

How could this happen? Desmond crouched despondently at the spot. Just earlier, he had been at the hospital arguing with Seraphina, blaming her for mercilessly not visiting him, unaware that such a disaster would occur.

After a long while, he finally raised his gaze to Chloe, his voice cold and devoid of warmth, "What exactly happened?"

"Master Fairchild, I’m not entirely sure of the specifics. This afternoon, Miss Dunn seemed upset and went out shopping. When Madam returned in the evening, she found Miss Dunn hadn’t come home; upon tracking her whereabouts she discovered Miss Dunn had gone to the underground casino. Madam presumably got caught in their trap due to worrying about Miss Dunn." Though she couldn’t grasp all the intricacies, Chloe relayed to Desmond what she knew.

She then stood resolutely before him, eyes filled with determination, "I failed to protect Madam, and should be punished."

"Punishment is warranted! I kept you by her side, and this is how you protected her?" The bloodlust in Desmond’s eyes swept over Chloe’s face, "After today, proceed to receive your punishment."

Without any grievance, Chloe could only nod, "Yes, I understand."

Keith stood in front of the operating room, observing the interaction between Desmond and Chloe. He couldn’t help but sense that their relationship wasn’t a typical master-servant dynamic; it resembled more of a hierarchical structure found in the military.

Right now, though, he wasn’t interested in that, only concerned about Seraphina’s safety.

Previously, he had heard that Seraphina had aborted the child and felt happy for a couple of days. After all, her willingness to terminate Desmond’s child meant she was ready to start anew, which made him feel his persistence would finally bear fruit, believing Seraphina would eventually become his.

Yet, he was wrong; Seraphina never had an abortion nor planned to sever ties with Desmond from the beginning.

Thinking about it, Keith couldn’t help but bitterly smile repeatedly, wondering if he could never win Seraphina’s heart no matter what he did.

Quentin Jennings, upon receiving the news, hurried over too, witnessing the standoff at the surgery room entrance.

Keith and Desmond stood like guards, one on the left, one on the right, though silent due to Seraphina’s plight, their presence still clashed fiercely.

Indeed, a beauty brings ruin.

Quentin quickly approached and cautiously inquired Desmond, "How is it? What did the doctor say?"

"Heavy bleeding; the child probably can’t be saved." Desmond’s face was ominously gloomy.

"Child?" Quentin looked at him doubtfully, "Wasn’t the child dealt with before? Why is there still a child? Could it be..."

Someone else’s?

Desmond’s icy gaze swept over Quentin’s face, silencing him, making him dare not speak further.

"She lied to me; the child was not aborted." When Desmond said this, his eyes were filled with pain.

Initially, he forced Seraphina to abort, to which she feigned agreement but secretly kept the child. Yet now, this child ultimately couldn’t be saved, potentially endangering Seraphina.
