Unholy Player-Chapter 163: Adept
Chapter 163: Adept
The monochrome sun cast its black and white light, adding an ethereal shine to the fantastic world. Colossith’s massive body trembled the surroundings like a cradle, creating a strange yet strangely calming atmosphere. The five-person group sat calmly on a large stylish carpet, each settled in one of the five black leather armchairs, quietly sipping their tea as they continued their conversation.
Even Malrik, the lowest-ranked practitioner in the group at Rank 2, didn’t need sleep, so they could all sit like this, fully energized, for days, talking and resting, and still feeling as refreshed as if they had slept.
This was the first time Adyr had stayed consciously awake for such a long time in this world, and he was already feeling its positive effects.
As the conversation deepened, the practitioners began to share even their secrets with Adyr.
"For example, I’ve followed an evolution path focused on transformation," said Liora Virell, a Rank 4 practitioner, casually sipping her tea as if it were nothing special.
Her small frame seemed to disappear into the soft cushions of the black leather chair.
"All four Sparks I evolved, from Rank 1 to Rank 4, were ones that physically made my body more flexible and durable. So you could say my build is focused on defense and strength."
Adyr nodded as he listened.
Thinking of Liora’s massive, almost gorilla-like body, he could better understand her words. The way the small woman in front of him could transform into such a titan with incredible muscle strength was all thanks to her perfectly tuned foundation.
For instance, Adyr himself had wings from Dawn Raven and was considering evolving along that path. Those wings weren’t just for speed or escape; they could also serve defensive and even offensive purposes.
"I’m more focused purely on power," Lucen added calmly, pointing to the sword resting by the edge of his chair.
"This sword is made of special metal, specially crafted by blacksmiths from a kingdom famous for their work. I’ve focused all three of my evolutions on muscle strength, and I carefully selected most of my Spark’s skills to complement my sword and combat techniques. I see you use dual blades—if you want, I can teach you some techniques."
Adyr was genuinely pleased to hear that. Although he had a good relationship with knives, all of his sword experience had come since arriving in this world.
Throwing small knives was one thing, but dual blades were generally not an ideal weapon choice here—especially against larger Sparks—where longer swords were much more practical.
"That would be great, thank you," Adyr said sincerely.
He was already planning to practice, take lessons, and register many weapon skills—especially sword techniques—with his other body at the player headquarters. Still, even learning just one of the sword techniques Lucen had developed over his long life would give him a great advantage.
"While taking in all this new knowledge and processing it to build your future, there is one main and most important thing you need to keep in mind," Liora said in a serious tone.
As the highest-ranked practitioner in the group, Adyr always put her words first.
"You should understand that Rank 4 is the pinnacle a mortal body can reach. Everything we have done so far—every stage of evolution and every talent we have registered—is aimed at this single moment that will determine our future." Liora’s voice grew heavier and more serious, ensuring Adyr grasped every word.
"Where Rank 4 ends is considered the mortal pinnacle, and what comes after is Rank 5, which we classify as where the road to immortality begins."
Adyr narrowed his eyes at these words and continued listening carefully.
"Up to Rank 4, practitioners are called by different names depending on kingdoms and regions—practitioners, pathfinders, seekers, and a few others. But once someone reaches Rank 5, there is only one general title used. From that point on, regardless of the path chosen or all that has been gained along the way, they are called Adepts.
"For now, it’s enough to know just the general term. Going deeper will only confuse you. What matters is understanding why you’re working so hard and the path you’re on," Liora said with a smile, then relaxed back into her carefree self as she sipped her tea.
Adyr felt the weight of her words. He understood that the jump from Rank 4 to Rank 5 was a huge leap.
"What comes next?" he asked, curious.
This time, Mirela, the Rank 3 practitioner, answered. "Well, that’s something you don’t need to worry about yet, but let me give you the general idea anyway," she said with a laugh and then listed, "After Practitioner and Adept comes Sage — where you perfect your understanding of your path and reach the boundaries of its mysteries, fully mastering them."
Mirela’s colorful eyes sparkled with excitement, her rainbow hair flowing as she spoke with admiration and longing, but then her voice dropped in volume. "After that... comes Demigod. Well, I don’t know much about them since only a handful exist, and they’re not exactly the kind of beings mortals like us get to see, hehe." She tried to force a sluggish smile.
"And after that..." Mirela hesitated, as if afraid to say the next word.
Liora answered instead. "That’s God." She appeared calm, sipping her tea, but Adyr noticed a slight tension in her body.
There was no need to ask what she meant by God — it was clear she referred to the creators of the four Paths, the God and Goddess. They were the most revered, respected, and powerful—the originators of everything.
At this point, Adyr considered asking Liora what exactly Primora was, since she should know more than Malrik. In the end, however, he chose to remain silent.
He already understood and accepted that in this world full of extraordinary things, the 5th path was an extraordinary one on its own, and he decided not to talk about it too much to avoid drawing unnecessary attention. ƒreewebɳovel.com
Besides, every time the word was spoken, strange things seemed to happen. Now that he had learned even Rank 4 was considered mortal, he wasn’t sure if Liora could even hear the word at all.
