Unlimited estates for rural beauty-Chapter 104 Preparing to Build a Greenhouse (7)
After taking a sip of tea, she continued speaking, "During this period, you must remember every single word I say. Each of you from every village has your tasks. Starting tomorrow, all the men will go up the mountain to cut bamboo and trees, while some of the leftover women will cook and the rest will continue picking fruit. The distillery will remain as is, while everyone else gets to work. As for who cooks and who picks fruit, let the village chiefs decide upon your return. Gather outside the manor at the end of Mao Time and the beginning of the next hour tomorrow. The five villages can simply find bamboo nearby."
"Yes, Miss," they responded.
"Well, if there’s nothing else, you all can go back and make arrangements." Feng Xuxu waved her hand, and the people left one by one, getting ready for work tomorrow.
Before dawn, the villagers had all gathered outside the manor. Led by Feng Xi, they entered the mountains and by broad daylight, bamboo poles and logs started to be transported down the mountain.
In just a few days, the ground became stacked with bamboo piled as high as a wall. Feng Xuxu called a few of the clever people and began teaching them how to set up large sheds, emphasizing that the foundations needed to be deep and secure. After teaching them hand by hand for a few days and once they had learned, she assigned the task to the five villages to set up their own large sheds.
Feng Xuxu took out a bucket of Spiritual Spring Water from her space, poured it slowly into seven jars, and called Feng Shi to deliver one to each of the five villages and another village. "Pour this water into the well and then come back," she instructed.
Feng Shi hopped onto the ox cart with the jars and left. Feng Xuxu calculated the time; the last batch of linseed oilcloth should also be arriving. Just then, she thought about it, and a doorman reported that the oilcloth had arrived and was being accounted for with the final payment of silver at the cashier’s.
With everything prepared, only the east wind was needed. She had spent three thousand taels of silver to build the large sheds, fortunately, they would last for two more years.
After eating early in the evening, she lay on the book press, gazing at her grain base and wondering when it would be established.
Xiao Chen came to Feng Xuxu’s side with light, quiet steps and gently tousled Xuxu’s hair.
Feng Xuxu turned to look at Xiao Chen, smiling sweetly, "Chen."
Xiao Chen picked up Feng Xuxu and sat down in the chair with her, looking at the little woman in his arms with reluctance.
"I’m returning to the capital the day after tomorrow," he said sorrowfully.
Feng Xuxu suddenly looked up at Xiao Chen, "The day after tomorrow, what time? I will see you off." Tears filled her eyes as she clung to Xiao Chen’s waist, burying her head in his sturdy chest, listening to his strong heartbeat.
"Early in the morning the day after tomorrow. While I’m not here, you must be careful of Jueqing and take good care of yourself," Xiao Chen warned her, still uneasy about leaving Jueqing at the manor.
"Don’t worry, I will, and you must protect yourself too. Also, don’t look at other women. If I find out, well hmph..." She pouted and tried to joke lightly, but her laugh was uglier than crying.
Xiao Chen held the girl in his arms tighter, feeling troubled, "Silly girl, if you want to cry, just cry. I won’t laugh at you."
"I’m not," she retorted, pulling away from his warm embrace and looking up at Xiao Chen. "You must think of me a lot when you go back, every single day."
"Alright, I will think of you when I sleep, eat, every single moment," he cooed to his little treasure.
"When will you come back?" After hearing her, Xiao Chen stiffened for a moment, then held her tighter.
"I don’t know; maybe a year, maybe sooner," Xiao Chen said uncertainly, not sure how long he would need to be in the capital before returning.
"Okay, I’ll wait for you," Feng Xuxu closed her eyes, snuggling comfortably into Xiao Chen’s embrace, and by the time she awoke, it was already the next day.
"Miss, you’re awake. Your washing water is ready," said Baihe, stepping forward to attend to the young lady. She turned her head and saw a dark red stain on the lady’s bedding. Blushing, she said, "Miss, you and the master..."
