Chapter 46: Chapter 46: Disobedient? Get Whipped with Pepper Water-soaked Whip

"I didn’t expect this little kitty to be so spiritual, yet it’s just too fierce." Jiaojiao blinked her large eyes in surprise as she stared at Xiaobai. It was just too adorable.

"Xiaobai, remember this is Sister Jiaojiao, you’re not allowed to hurt her, or else I’ll whip you with a small whip dipped in chili water." Feng Xuxu looked at Xiaobai with an unsatisfied expression.

"Ow. Okay then, Sister Feng, I won’t scare her, but I don’t allow her to touch me, I am a Divine Beast after all." Xiaobai retorted proudly to Feng Xuxu.

"Xuxu, what’s it howling about? Could it understand what you said and is responding to you? Can you actually understand it?" Jiaojiao looked at Feng Xuxu in disbelief.

"Animals are generally spirited; I guess it might have howled a few times because it saw that I looked upset. How could I possibly understand the language of beasts!"

"Xuxu, let’s go inside, have a look at my embroidery, and give me some pointers." Jiaojiao gave up the idea of trying to touch Xiaobai, it was just too adorable, yet a shame that it was a bit fierce.

Feng Xuxu nodded, put down Xiaobai to let it go play on its own, and then went with Sister Jiaojiao into the house to study the embroidery. By the time Feng Xuxu came out again, the sun had shifted towards the west, and another day had passed just like that.

After dinner, Feng Xuxu went out to take a walk and digest her food, standing outside the courtyard, she gazed at Nameless Mountain in the distance, lost in thought.

"Little sister, why are you standing here looking foolish?" Feng Xi, having heard about the day’s events from Jiaojiao, although outwardly he said his sister could solve the issue well, was still uneasy inside, worried that his sister might become sick from stress. That’s why he had been quietly observing her and was able to follow as soon as Feng Xuxu stepped out of the courtyard.

"Big brother, it’s nothing; I was just wondering when our house will finally be finished." She looked back at her brother and then turned again to gaze toward Nameless Mountain. Her expression was somewhat melancholic.

"I asked Uncle Du, and he said that the courtyard you designed will take about another month or so, but our temporary housing was completed today, and we can move in anytime. I was thinking of going to the town tomorrow to buy some rice, flour, oil, grains, bowls, and chopsticks. That way, we could move in the evening."

"Hmm, I also plan to go to the town tomorrow. Let’s go together; we can buy some quilts and, while we’re at it, get some new clothes and socks too."

"Good, tomorrow morning, we’ll take Feng Laoye’s ox cart into town." Feng Xi smoothed his sister’s hair that was messed up by the wind.

"Hehe, brother, speaking of ox carts, shouldn’t we also buy one? It would make traveling to the city more convenient, and during the busy farming season, we could put it to good use." Feng Xuxu looked up at her big brother with big, sparkling eyes.

"Okay, we’ll take Yijiang with us tomorrow; he can tell a good ox from a bad one." The gentle moonlight shone softly on Feng Xi’s smiling face, giving him a unique charm.

"Brother Yijiang?" Feng Xuxu didn’t expect that Zhang Yijiang also had this skill.

"Yijiang used to tend livestock for a wealthy family. Later, when that family made a lot of money, they moved to Capital City together." Seeing his sister’s puzzled look, he realized she had been oblivious to outside affairs and proceeded to explain to her.

"Alright, then we’ll all go to the city together tomorrow."

"Let’s go back to sleep; it’s getting late, and we have to head into town early tomorrow." Her brother was worried about her health and urged her to rest early.

"Okay, then I’m going to bed. You should rest early too."

"Okay." The brother took his little sister’s hand and walked back into the courtyard. He latched the main gate, and they each went off to their own rooms to sleep.

Not half an hour later, the courtyard was quiet, and the moon had hidden itself somewhere in the sky. Only the sound of the wind rustling through the leaves with a gentle swishing noise could be heard.

Xiao Residence

A man in tight black clothing knelt on the ground, his body fully armed, exposing only a pair of eyes as he respectfully lowered his head.

"Come to town tomorrow." 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝔀𝓮𝒃𝙣𝓸𝒗𝒆𝒍.𝙘𝒐𝒎

"Yes, Master."

Xiao Chen stood by the window with his hands clasped behind his back. A breeze wafted through, lifting a wayward lock of hair, unfettered and free. It brushed across his face, blowing to the other side.

"You may leave," Xiao Chen waved a lazy hand, then stood still as a statue once more, motionless.

Feng Xuxu cautiously rose to her feet and glanced at Jiaojiao, who was asleep beside her. She waved her hand in front of Jiaojiao and, seeing no reaction, dared to slip into the space.

Upon entering the space, every cell in her body eagerly absorbed the energy, like parched grass encountering dew, instantly reinvigorated and filled with vitality.

"Sister Feng, look quick, I found these on Nameless Mountain, they’re so sweet." Xiaobai presented a basket of lychees with a flattering demeanor.

Feng Xuxu peeled a lychee and took a bite. The juice was sweet and delicious. "Xiaobai, how many of these fruits are there on Nameless Mountain?"

Xiaobai tilted his head to think for a moment. "Around a few dozen. There are some around Spiritual Mountain and the rest surround Nameless Mountain." Xiaobai spat out a seed and leisurely savored it.

Feng Xuxu looked at Xiaobai speechlessly, trying to find some work for Xiaobai to do, or else the tiger would start to get lazy again.

"Xiaobai, take these seeds and plant them in the mountain. Remember to plant them in rows. Once they grow, I’ll make wine for you," Feng Xuxu tempted Xiaobai.

Indeed, at the mention of wine, Xiaobai’s eyes shone brightly with mischief. "Sister Feng, I want to drink, I’ll go plant them now," said Xiaobai, and in a gust of wind he dashed towards the mountains in the space.

Feng Xuxu came to the hot spring, disrobed, and stepped into the water, taking a pleasant soak and washing away the fatigue.

As Feng Xuxu rested with closed eyes, about a quarter of an hour later, a tiger’s roar startled her awake. She looked up and saw Xiaobai squatting by the hot spring. Feng Xuxu’s mouth twitched at the sight; the tiger’s speed was truly astonishing.

"Sister Feng, I’ve planted them all in straight rows, just like you instructed," said Xiaobai, tilting his tiger head and looking at Feng Xuxu in the water.

Feng Xuxu raised her hand to pat the tiger’s head, praising, "Good job." She got up, dressed herself, and picked up a cotton towel to dry her hair. Xiaobai followed close behind Feng Xuxu, a look of eager anticipation on his face as he asked, "Sister Feng, when can Xiaobai drink the wine?" As he spoke, Xiaobai kept swallowing saliva eagerly.

Feng Xuxu tapped on Xiaobai’s tiger head. "In the outside world, it would take about two months. Here in the space, I guess a bit over half a month, I suppose, since time in the space is different from the outside." Feng Xuxu thought if the wine was allowed to mature in the space, it would certainly taste much better.

"Sister Feng, can you make the wine tomorrow, please?" Xiaobai begged pitifully.

"You little glutton," she said. "Tomorrow, I’ll buy the ingredients and then I’ll brew it for you in the space. But, you need to go and bring back more fruit."

"Yeah, I’ll go look for fruit first thing tomorrow morning." Xiaobai humanly nodded his tiger head, promising Feng Xuxu.
