Chapter 493: Chapter 493: Why Don’t I Have a Sister in This Life? (3)

Feng Xuxu looked at the pile of account books, feeling the urge to run. So many account books, how many days, no, how many months would it take her to finish them? Sighing, she waved her hands and motioned for them to leave.

"Mei, go call for Di An."

"Yes, Empress." Mei Lenglei turned and left the room.

After searching outside for a while, Mei couldn’t find Di An. Upon asking, he learned that Di An was in the yard, up in the big tree.

Looking up at him perched on a branch, he said, "Di An, the Empress is calling you."

Di An’s body shook, nearly falling from the tree, as he looked at the person standing below, "I say, Tian Yi’s wife, can’t you speak gently for once?"

"Go away, if you want to hear a gentle voice, go find your own Zhu Lengqing." Mei rolled his eyes at the person in the tree, clearly aware that he didn’t get along with Tian Yi, yet still insisting on using the Emperor’s words to provoke him.

Xuan Yue saw Mei Lenglei standing under the tree and was about to approach him to ingratiate himself when he heard the off-key voice. With a vault, he directly kicked Di An off the tree and looked down from above at Di An’s astonished face, "You’re asking for it, aren’t you?"

"Hehe, you’re the one who’s asking for it. Mei, the great beauty, is the one the Emperor chose for Tian Yi. If our master knew you wanted to marry Mei the great beauty, I think you’d find your skin itching even more." Di An said to Xuan Yue in the tree with a teasing grin. 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝒆𝔀𝒆𝙗𝓷𝒐𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝓸𝓶

When Mei Lenglei saw Xuan Yue, he blushed, but after Di An finished speaking, his handsome face turned pale, and he glared fiercely at Di An, "Believe it or not, I’ll make things difficult for you in front of the Empress."

Di An blinked, a roguish smile on his face, "Hehe, Mei the great beauty, you wouldn’t seek personal revenge, would you?"

"We’ll see about that!" Folding his arms, he looked at the other with a face like someone with indigestion.

A hint of a smirk curled on Xuan Yue’s lips in the tree, this was the person he liked.

"I’m only looking out for your best interests! Ungrateful as a dog biting Lai Dongbin, blind to goodwill," Di An shook his head with an expression of regret.

Xuan Yue raised his eyebrows, "Humph, by that logic, do you want to hand Lan Lengyun over to Huang Yi on a silver platter?"

Di An’s face instantly lost all color, and Huang Yi, who had rushed over upon hearing this, turned pale with anxiety. Looking at Di An and seeing he did not respond, Huang Yi’s heart sank. He knew he loved Zhu Lengqing, so why had the Emperor chosen Lan Lengyun for him?

Suppressing a snort of derision, a childish voice rang out, and everyone turned to see the Crown Prince had arrived, causing faces to register embarrassment.

"Are you displeased with the marriages my father arranged for you?" Qiqi asked them with a suppressed smile.

Seeing the young Crown Prince, they couldn’t help but superimpose his image over the Emperor’s; even their smiles were incredibly similar. Mei Lenglei recoiled, feeling a chill up his spine, and quickly knelt down, "This servant dares not."

Xuan Yue, Di An, and Huang Yi came to their senses and knelt down as well, saying in unison, "We dare not." A chill went through them as they realized who stood before them—the Crown Prince—who, despite playing behind them and calling them "uncle," carried an inherent pride, not tolerating others to question his decisions, especially those of his father, the Emperor, the sovereign of the land.

"You dare not?" Qiqi frowned, pacing back and forth beside them.

From a distance, Baihe saw everyone kneeling down, and then looked at the Crown Prince, who was smiling but without joy in his eyes. With a swift thought, she walked up briskly to the Crown Prince, "Crown Prince, the Empress is looking for Mei the maid and Di An the guard."

Qiqi turned to look at Baihe, and with a nod of his little head, said, "You may rise. Go back to your duties."
