Chapter 548: Chapter 548 Assassination further update (1)

"Where did he go... Eh, where’s big brother?" Yueyue turned back to look, only to find that her big brother was gone.

Dugu Chen put down Yueyue in his arms and, together with his wife, searched the not-so-large room. They didn’t even spare the area under the bed, but ultimately they failed to find their son.

"Where could he have gone? It’s really driving me crazy."

"My dear, don’t worry, he might have just gone to relieve himself," Dugu Chen comforted her, patting her shoulder.

From a dark corner, Wan Hun, seeing the masters’ anxiety below, used a technique to send a message over great distances, "Master, the young master went to look for something to eat. Wan Hun is with him, and they’ll be back soon."

Dugu Chen nodded, "My dear, Qiqi went out to find something to eat. Let’s wait a bit. Have Huang Yi go look for him."

Feng Xuxu could only nod helplessly. The two of them waited in the so-called prison cell for Qiqi to return, meanwhile curiously watching Yueyue interrogate the prisoner.

In no time at all, Qiqi came in with something wrapped in a brocade handkerchief in his arms, excitedly calling out to his sister, "Yueyue, Yueyue, come quickly, see what delicious thing brother has prepared for you!"

Out of curiosity, Yueyue trotted over on her little feet to her brother’s side. As he unfolded the handkerchief, a dark object was revealed, slightly smaller than an adult’s fist. Dugu Chen and Feng Xuxu, too, were curious and stood up to walk over. When Qiqi realized his parents were present, it was too late to hide it. Faced with his parents’ curious gazes, Qiqi gave a forced smile, "Dad, Mom, when did you have the time to come here?"

"If we didn’t come, we wouldn’t know that my precious dares to eat anything." Feng Xuxu snorted coldly after seeing that the dark object was clearly a bird, complete with head and claws, only utterly charred by Qiqi, who likely was roasting something for the first time.

"Hehe, Mom, I was just curious," Qiqi said, tugging at his mother’s skirt, trying carefully to please her.

"Throw that thing away, and you’re not allowed to roast such things to eat anymore," Dugu Chen said sternly, glaring at him.

Qiqi shrank his neck, clutching at his mother’s skirt and leaning behind her. It was the first time his dad had glared at him in anger, and the tiny Qiqi felt somewhat afraid watching his father in rage.

Seeing her father’s anger, Yueyue glanced at her mother and seeing her displeased expression, she turned and hugged her father’s leg, looking up at him, "Scared, hug."

When Dugu Chen saw his daughter’s expression, he realized his own might have been too frightening. He softened, lifting Yueyue up without a word, and turned to leave.

Feng Xuxu sighed long and deep, picked up Qiqi from behind her, and followed them both. The four returned to the bedroom, the two adults sat on chairs, while the two little ones stood on the floor, their hearts nervous as they looked at their angry parents.

"Dad, I won’t roast birds ever again," Qiqi promised first, unable to bear the atmosphere any longer.

"Yes, Mom, I’ll make sure brother doesn’t get into mischief again," Yueyue promised earnestly, vigorously nodding her head.

Feng Xuxu saw her husband rarely show anger towards the children and thought it was a good opportunity to teach them a lesson, seeing they were somewhat afraid and might listen for once.

Seeing his wife silent, Dugu Chen understood she wanted him to discipline them. Yet recalling his earlier concern for Qiqi’s safety, and how, while he was in tenterhooks, Qiqi was leisurely roasting birds, it made him livid.

"Tell me, what else have you roasted before? And who taught you to roast birds?" Dugu Chen put on a fatherly air and sternly questioned Qiqi on the ground.

It was the first time Yueyue had seen her father so angry and serious. Her tiny frame moved closer to her mother, and her luminous eyes began to brim with tears, "Mom~."
