Unlimited estates for rural beauty-Chapter 580: Bizarre (1)
Yueyue glared at her brother with her delicate eyebrows knitted together, "Have you taken the wrong medicine, or are you going crazy?"
Qiqi knew he shouldn’t have taken his temper out on his sister, but the words were already spoken and it was too late to take them back. Seeing his sister pouting, he smiled sheepishly and apologized, "Sis, it’s my fault. I took the wrong medicine just now, don’t be mad."
Yueyue eyed her brother suspiciously, not understanding what was going on with him, then pulled him over to the tent and squatted down for a quiet talk, "Big brother, what’s wrong with you?"
Qiqi glanced at their dad to see if he was paying attention, and noticing his focus was on their mom, he whispered, "Sis, do you want to hear about Dad’s history from the past?"
"Yes."
"Then you go ask Dad, and let him tell us."
"Why don’t you go?" Yueyue asked, her bright eyes filled with confusion as she looked at her big brother.
Qiqi fluttered his eyelids and continued to coax his sister, "Dad won’t talk to me about it, he likes you. If you ask him, he might just tell you."
After a long talk, Yueyue finally realized that her brother wanted to use her as a scapegoat. She pursed her lips and said, "Fine, I’ll talk to Dad and I’ll say that you told me to ask."
"Don’t." He grabbed his sister who was standing up, now understanding why Dad didn’t want him to ask Mom. The issue was that Dad was afraid Mom would find out.
Yueyue turned to look at her brother squatting on the ground, "What’s wrong?"
"Just forget about it, I don’t want to know anymore," Qiqi said pitifully after quickly changing his mind.
"Alright then." Yueyue also crouched down, playing with a twig and drawing circles in the dirt, silent. 𝐟𝕣𝗲𝕖𝕨𝗲𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝗲𝚕.𝗰𝚘𝐦
Seeing his sister just playing with the twig and not looking like she would speak, Qiqi tugged on her sleeve, "I really like Xiaoyu. He follows me around calling me ’Brother’ with his soft voice which I love hearing. Sometimes when I tease him, he doesn’t even realize it and just smiles at us innocently."
"Yeah, I caught a caterpillar the other day and put it in his hand. He was so scared he cried his eyes out. Later, when I shouted at him, he just pouted and didn’t dare to say a word."
When Yueyue thought about the way Xiaoyu looked, she couldn’t help but find it heart-wrenching: wanting to cry but not daring to, tears welling in his eyes, and his little mouth pouting. His large eyes looked up at her — so pitifully.
"When will Mom have a little brother for me to play with?" Qiqi mused absent-mindedly, propping his head with one hand and staring blankly at the tent. But from the corner of his eye, he still glanced at his sister.
Yueyue remembered Xiaoyu following her, calling out "Sister" one time after another, and suddenly felt as if she had grown up a bit, agreeing wholeheartedly with her brother.
"Brother, let’s ask Mom to bring Xiaoyu to us," Yueyue suggested, seeing an immediate opportunity for a little brother — how perfect!
Qiqi felt his heart leap for joy at the first half of his sister’s sentence, but it sank when he heard the second half. The sudden drop from heaven to hell was excruciating. He felt like dry leaves swirling around his forehead, drifting away slowly.
"Sis, have you gone mad? Uncle won’t give Xiaoyu to Mom, and besides, Xiaoyu is Grandpa’s beloved treasure."
"So what do we do? Wait for Mom to have another one? By the time he can call me ’Sister,’ I’ll be old already." Yueyue jabbed the twig she was holding with frustration.
Qiqi looked at Yueyue with knitted brows, "You’ll only be five years old at most by then, and you think you’ll be old?"
"Yeah, haven’t you heard? ’A day apart feels like three seasons.’ Big brother, one day apart is like three autumns. Two years, tell me how many autumns that is?" Yueyue rolled her eyes, feeling it would be more convenient to just claim Xiaoyu as a little brother straight away.
