Chapter 63: Chapter 63 Preparing to Buy Land (2)

Ma Fei’s keen nose caught the aroma and immediately livened up, snatching the wine jug from Feng Xuxu’s hand, prying open the stopper, and taking a swig. He smacked his lips, eyes closed, and only after a moment did he exhale a breath, savoring the taste and muttering, "Good wine, really good wine." 𝚏𝐫𝚎𝗲𝕨𝐞𝐛𝕟𝚘𝐯𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝗺

"Uncle Ma, this is all I’ve got, you know. Once it’s gone, there’s no more," Feng Xuxu said, rolling her eyes in disdain at Ma Fei’s greedy expression.

"Hey, what are you saying, girl? This little bit couldn’t even fill the gaps in my teeth." Ma Fei smacked his lips, still relishing the drink, but upon hearing it was all there was, his face changed in an instant, and he glared at Feng Xuxu in dissatisfaction.

"Hmph, who said that I couldn’t brew wine?" Feng Xuxu stared at the sky, speechless, refusing to look at Ma Fei.

At that, Ma Fei puffed up angrily, "Who said that? Step forward! I’ll beat you so bad you won’t recognize your own parents."

Feng Xuxu stared silently at the sky, thinking what an act this guy could put on, and wondering how long he could keep it up. She turned away and began counting the birds in the trees.

Seeing this, Ma Fei put on a conciliatory smile. "Hehe, why are you still bringing that up, girl? I was just spouting nonsense. Let bygones be bygones, will you?" Ma Fei begged, tugging at Feng Xuxu’s sleeve pitifully.

Feng Xuxu, knowing Uncle Ma’s tricks all too well, said, "Save it, it won’t work on me," and turned to keep counting birds.

"Hehehe, haven’t seen you in a few days and you’ve become shrewd," Ma Fei said with a sly grin. "So, I heard someone’s selling a rice paddy, and half the land in this town belongs to him. What do you think, can this information atone for my sins?" He looked at Feng Xuxu, sure she couldn’t resist the bait.

Her ears perking up at the news, Feng Xuxu’s heart pounded with excitement. She turned to look at Uncle Ma, his face split by a wicked smile. Of course, the old rascal was after her wine again.

"Who knows if you’re telling the truth or not?" Feng Xuxu scoffed, her face clearly showing disbelief. "If you want more wine, just say so." She rolled her eyes at Uncle Ma.

When Ma Fei heard Feng Xuxu, he glared at her with bristling anger. "Hey, when have I ever lied to you? He’s a well-known landlord in this town. Many villages rent his land to farm," he said, his mustache twitching with indignant sincerity.

Feng Xuxu remembered there was such a person in town and replied to the furious Uncle Ma, "You tricked me with chili seedlings last time." Then, with a sidelong glance, she added, "If you can figure out how to buy that land for me, then I’ll make sure you always have enough of my wine to drink, plus plenty of delicious food!"

Ma Fei’s mouth twitched. Did she think of him as a three-year-old child? But for the sake of wine, he resigned himself to agree. "Girl, as for the landlord’s land, there’s quite a bit, but not an overwhelming amount. It’s the most land in this town, but buying it won’t come cheap!"

Feng Xuxu frowned, her pretty brows knitting together. The lack of silver was a real problem.

"Uncle Ma, I need to see your boss," she decided after some thought, it was time to see the demon.

"The master’s not around, probably won’t be back till the day after tomorrow." Ma Fei took a lychee from the wine jug, popped it into his mouth, and started smacking away.

Feng Xuxu nodded helplessly, "Uncle Ma, I’m heading back. Once the demon returns, I’ll come see him." She got up, shaking out the folds in her dress.

Feng Xuxu expertly mounted her horse and headed straight for Mandala Villa on Nameless Mountain.

As Wei Time approached its end, Feng Xuxu faced the twenty people standing in the courtyard and spoke sternly, "No matter what you were like before, from now on, you’ll do as I say. Those who fall short will be sold off without mercy. And if anyone here leaks what I entrust to you in the future, be warned, the consequences will be far graver than just being sold."
