Unrivaled Martial Emperor-Chapter 1644 - Enter
The sect leader’s closing remark caused a subtle shift in Deng Ao’s expression.
That final sentence was unmistakably a warning.
Evidently, the sect leader was fully aware of what Nangong Xian, Jiang Tianyi, and even Crown Prince Jin had done in secret. Still, he overlooked them out of respect for the Demon Suppression Elder’s standing.
Now that the matter had been exposed openly, Deng Ao could no longer allow his lineage to act without restraint. Otherwise, consequences would follow.
Furthermore, while the sect leader meted out equal punishments for both parties, Deng Ao felt that Chen Fan got off lightly.
Was this truly all the punishment warranted for injuring a fellow disciple?
Deng Ao didn’t argue, however. He had thought of a better solution.
His cherished disciple’s martial art was crippled. The rage boiling in his chest was enough to drive him mad. How could such a grievance be brushed aside so easily?
Yet reason prevailed. With both the Heavenly Punishment Elder and the sect leader present, acting directly was impossible.
“Hmph, in that case, I’ll take my leave, Sect Leader,” Deng Ao said coldly and left.
The sect leader paid him no mind. Instead, he shifted his gaze to the Heavenly Punishment Elder and said, “Your cultivation has advanced significantly of late. Congratulations.”
Naturally, the Heavenly Punishment Elder didn’t sell Chen Fan out. He simply laughed and replied casually, “Hahahaha, I just got lucky. If there’s nothing else, I shall take my leave too, Sect Leader.”
The sect leader turned to Chen Fan and asked, “Chen Fan, do you object to this punishment?”
“I don’t,” Chen Fan answered.
“Very well. Going forward, you can return after killing twenty early-level, ten mid-level, and three top-level Immortal Kings of the demon race. Otherwise, you shall remain there forever,” said the sect leader.
The sentence was lenient only on the surface. Harming fellow disciples was a grave offense in any sect, especially when committed openly within a secret realm.
Chen Fan couldn’t help but suck in a breath of cold air.
The Immortal King realm was divided into three levels: the early, mid, and top levels. The gap in strength between each level was immense.
Take Crown Prince Jin, for example. He was a newbie early-level Immortal King, yet his foundation was extraordinary, bolstered by rare opportunities and his status as a chosen genius. Even among early-stage Immortal Kings, he stood near the top. Since Chen Fan had defeated him, killing ordinary early-stage Immortal Kings would not pose much difficulty.
The real challenge lay in slaying ten mid-stage and three peak-stage Immortal Kings.
“How about it, any objections?” asked the sect leader, looking at Chen Fan.
Banishing Chen Fan to the Demon Realm Passageway was also a form of training. Letting such a freakish talent go unpolished would be wasteful.
Chen Fan did not object and accepted it immediately. “As you command.”
There was no deadline imposed. Time was on his side.
Once he advanced into the Immortal King realm himself, even the mid-stage and peak-stage targets would no longer be insurmountable.
“Mmm, alright, make your way to the Demon Realm Passageway yourself after packing up your things.” The sect leader nodded and left without delay.
Chen Fan didn’t linger in the secret realm any longer either.
He had spent three years pushing himself into the Half-step Immortal King realm. He had improved rapidly, and his strength soared by leaps and bounds. The Demon Realm Passageway was the ideal place to solidify his gains and prepare for a full breakthrough.
Whoosh.
After Chen Fan and the others left, the Earth-character secret realm erupted into chaos.
“My god, even an Immortal King is no match for Chen Fan now. That’s too terrifying.”
“Say, how long do you think he’ll be gone in the Demon Realm Passageway?”
“Who knows? Early-stage Immortal Kings won’t trouble him, but mid-stage and peak-stage ones are another matter. He might even die there.”
“Indeed, indeed, but I believe that he would definitely be among the strongest Immortal Kings the day he returns from the Demon Realm Passageway. It seems another hegemon has emerged. What title do you think he should be crowned to suit him?”
“I think ‘Imperious Hegemon’ suits him perfectly.” [1]
......
Inside the cavern, Huang Wuji and the others said worriedly, “Little Junior Brother, you must be careful when you go to the Demon Realm Passageway. That’s the Demon Suppression lineage’s territory. Perhaps they’ll attack you in secret.”
Chen Fan smiled and said, “Them attacking me in secret is inevitable, but it’s fine as long as it’s not that old coot Deng Ao taking action personally. I’m not afraid of the others.”
“Even so, remain vigilant at all times.”
“Rest assured, Senior Brothers and Sisters. I’ll return very soon.”
Afterward, Chen Fan went to pay respects to his master, the Heavenly Punishment Elder, and made his way to the Demon Realm Passageway located deep within the sect.
The enormous passage resembled the gaping maw of a colossal beast. Merely gazing at it sent chills through the spine.
Demonic qi seeped out constantly, corrupting everything in the vicinity.
In the sky above the Passageway were countless formations, suppressing the tide of demonic energy.
Even with Chen Fan’s eyesight, the depths were impossible to discern, as if sealed away by the formations’ power.
As soon as Chen Fan entered the vicinity of the Demon Realm Passageway, waves of powerful immortal wills swept across him. Some passed indifferently, while others locked onto him with clear hostility.
Chen Fan didn’t waste any time and charged into the Demon Realm Passageway.
Shortly after he left, several experts came rushing to the scene.
“What happened? How did he leave so quickly? He actually got away!”
“What’s there to fear? As long as he’s within the passageway, we’ll find him sooner or later. Then, we’ll skin him alive and avenge our junior brother.”
“You have a point. It’s complete chaos within the Demon Realm Passageway, and even heavenly secrets are obscured there. No order, no rules. Once inside, he’ll die without anyone noticing.”
After lingering briefly, they vanished in the direction Chen Fan had taken.
Surprisingly, moments later, Chen Fan silently reappeared in the sky.
His earlier charge had been nothing more than a decoy. He had left behind a trace of aura, slipped away, and returned just in time to observe everything.
“Those people are indeed that old coot’s disciples. They actually tried to intercept and kill me here. Hmph hmph, unfortunately, it’s still uncertain who’s the hunter and who’s the prey.” Chen Fan snorted coldly, killing intent surging in his eyes. Then, he turned into a stream of light and charged into the passageway.
1. There’s a little pun here that’s hard to translate. This guy says ‘恶霸’, which is the word for bully or tyrant. Separately, the words mean evil and hegemon, but Chen Fan was only arrogant, not evil, so I chose not to translate it literally. It also isn’t mentioned in future chapters. ☜
