Chapter 1648 - Chaos City

The vice leader roared savagely, “I don’t care about your background. Only death awaits those who provoke our Thunderbolt Demon Hunter Squad!”

“Hoho. Bold words. Let’s see you make good on them.”

With the demonic sword in hand, Chen Fan advanced one step at a time toward the vice leader.

Chen Fan’s composure only fueled the man’s fury.

“Brat, do you think you’re a match for me?”

Boom!

A terrifying aura erupted from him in an instant.

He released his peak mid-level Immortal King aura, vastly surpassing Uncle Lei’s. It seemed like they hadn’t even been in the same realm.

“Brat, do you even understand the divide between Immortal King levels? A single step is as vast as the heavens. You defeated Ah Lei, but you won’t last more than three moves before me,” said the vice leader confidently.

“What a load of crap,” said Chen Fan, curling his lips. He shot forward without warning, appearing right before his opponent as the demonic sword slashed toward the man’s throat like a rampaging dragon.

“Insolence!” The vice leader flew into a rage. He hadn’t even made a move, yet Chen Fan dared to strike first.

Swish.

An astonishing saber light swept through heaven and earth. Wherever it passed, the space rapidly boiled over.

Rumble!

The saber light collided with the sword silhouette violently, unleashing a terrifying storm at once.

Boom, tch.

In the next instant, the deputy commander burst out of the storm, saber raised high and gleaming coldly as it came crashing down toward Chen Fan’s head.

“Go to hell, brat. You’ve committed an unforgivable crime. Even the Great Arhat Immortal couldn’t save you.”

Chen Fan didn’t say a word. With a flick of his wrist, countless illusory sword lights scattered outward, smashing into the descending saber glow and triggering a cascade of explosions.

Boom, boom, boom!

Bang, bang, bang!

The two of them went back and forth, exchanging hundreds, if not thousands, of moves in the blink of an eye. Each strike was tricky and vicious, mercilessly aiming for the kill.

Amidst this clash, Chen Fan’s aura gradually stabilized. The medicinal potency of the Nine-Transformations Grand Mystic Golden Elixir was fully circulating through him, stabilized through combat.

Only then did the deputy commander sense that something was terribly wrong. He had awakened a true calamity. With every exchange, his opponent was becoming stronger.

By the time he realized it, escape was no longer possible.

“Good, good, good, with the help of your strength, I’ve fully absorbed the Nine-Transformations Grand Mystic Golden Elixir and stabilized my cultivation. You’ve served your purpose. You can die.”

Suddenly, Chen Fan’s power burst forth. Compared to moments ago, his strength surged to more than twice its previous level.

With this, the vice leader couldn’t hold his ground any longer. He was driven backward again and again, disheveled and panicked, fear clawing at his heart.

Swish, swish, swish.

Chen Fan unleashed clean, merciless strikes with no wasted movement, as if pouring all suppressed fury into the blade. Sword qi linked seamlessly into one relentless tide.

Forced back again and again, the deputy commander began coughing blood. Soon after, sheer terror filled his face. He realized that every slash from Chen Fan was a touch stronger than the last. He was suppressed, reduced to enduring the onslaught with no chance to retaliate.

Swish.

Another slash from Chen Fan descended, shattering heaven and earth, and struck the vice leader.

The vice leader could no longer keep up with Chen Fan. His law power reserves were nearly exhausted under the insane barrage.

Worse still, Chen Fan showed no hint of fatigue. He was like a bottomless abyss. His law power surged endlessly, vast and unceasing like an ocean.

This was far beyond what any normal Immortal King should possess.

Puchi!

Chen Fan destroyed his resistance in an instant. The sword qi fell on the vice leader, sending him flying a hundred meters away, only stopping after shattering countless asteroids.

“Uagh, uagh.” The vice leader spewed blood repeatedly, eyes filled with horror.

“Who exactly are you?” asked the vice leader in terror.

“That doesn’t matter,” Chen Fan replied coldly. “What matters is that you’re dead.”

Chen Fan stomped his foot hard, disappearing as if he had teleported. When he reappeared, he was already in front of the vice leader.

Puchi.

Bloody light blossomed as Chen Fan crushed the vice leader on the spot. He refined his flesh and blood into a blood elixir.

“Too bad, he’s not a demon.”

Chen Fan shook his head, then sped off into the distance.

Now that he had broken through to the Immortal King realm, he could proceed with his mission requirement of ten mid-level Immortal Kings. Before his breakthrough, he had already killed one at the cost of sustaining heavy injuries.

For the current Chen Fan, however, mid-tier Immortal Kings posed no threat at all.

......

Chaos City stood at the border where the Featherlight Sect’s territory met the demon race’s domain. Unlike ordinary cities, it belonged to neither side. It was a true hybrid settlement.

In the vast Demon Realm Passageway battlefield, this was the only place where humans and demons mingled, making it an unregulated zone.

Neither the demon race nor the Featherlight Sect governed it. Or rather, both sides deliberately ignored it, allowing it to persist.

Chen Fan had come here because this was the only place he could use to hide from Deng Ao’s surveillance. After all, Deng Ao wielded immense influence in the Demon Realm Passageway battlefield.

Over the past century, he had been exposed numerous times. The Demon Suppression lineage had hunted him repeatedly, leaving him battered and near death more than once.

Although he was now an Immortal King realm and had grown significantly stronger, the Demon Suppression lineage experts that hunted him were mid-level Immortal Kings at the very least. Most were peak-level, and they always operated in coordinated groups.

He still was no match for a top-level Immortal King, especially if he was surrounded. That would be very dangerous for him.

When his cultivation improved further, he would not have to fear even top-level Immortal Kings, unless an Immortal Emperor personally took action to deal with him.

So, he had no choice but to come to Chaos City, as this was an unregulated zone with all kinds of people mixed in. He wouldn’t be found easily.
