Unrivaled Soldier in the City-Chapter 329: A Favor
Lin Kuang had met Chen Jiachong before, and the man he'd just disabled was definitely not him. Although the two looked remarkably similar, they were absolutely not the same person.
Where is the real Chen Jiachong? With this thought, Lin Kuang asked coldly, "Where is he?"
"Where is he?" the imposter sneered, fresh blood trickling from the corner of his mouth. "Even if I knew, I wouldn't tell you!"
Lin Kuang snorted and put a bullet between the man's eyes, killing him instantly.
Just then, the remaining nineteen members of the Eagle Sect ran over.
"Let's go. This Chen Jiachong is a fake. The real one isn't here," Lin Kuang said indifferently.
The nineteen men were stunned. He's a fake? Does that mean all our efforts were for nothing?
"Mr. Lin, what do we do now?" one of them asked.
"Get in the car first," Lin Kuang ordered, leading his men to their vehicles. Once inside, he quickly dialed Zhang Lianmei's number, and she answered a moment later.
"Lianmei, this Chen Jiachong is a fake," Lin Kuang said without preamble.
On the other end of the line, Zhang Lianmei's expression changed drastically. A fake? How is that possible?!
"Can you find his real location?" Lin Kuang pressed.
"I'll do my best, but it'll be difficult," she replied, her face grim. She really wanted to say it was impossible. After all, that was Chen Jiachong's main hideout. If he wasn't there, who knew where he could be?
Lin Kuang nodded, understanding her unspoken doubts. "Alright, you do your best. I'll think of another way. By the way, what's the progress on your end?"
"It's going well. We caught Chen's gang completely off guard. They're trying to organize a counterattack now, but we still have the upper hand," she reported quickly.
Lin Kuang breathed a sigh of relief. "Good. Keep it up. I'll figure something out on my end. If I can't, I'll bring my men back to support you."
"Alright, let's leave it at that for now," Zhang Lianmei agreed.
After a brief affirmation, they both hung up. Lin Kuang stared at his phone, frowning as his mind raced. Suddenly, his eyes lit up.
Right, the Wumi Building! How could I have forgotten about them?
The Wumi Building had a branch in the East Sea run by a man named Chen Feng. Though Lin Kuang had never met him, he knew who he was. Recalling the number from memory, Lin Kuang dialed Chen Feng's personal cell phone. 𝒇𝒓𝙚𝒆𝔀𝓮𝓫𝒏𝓸𝙫𝓮𝓵.𝓬𝙤𝙢
At that moment, Chen Feng was lounging in his home, quietly watching TV and looking for all the world like an ordinary person. When his personal cell phone rang, he glanced at the unfamiliar number but answered anyway. "Hello?"
"Are you Chen Feng of the Wumi Building?" Lin Kuang asked coolly.
"I am. May I ask who is calling?" Chen Feng asked, slightly puzzled.
"I am the King of the Underworld. You can also call me Lin Kuang," Lin Kuang stated evenly.
Hearing the title "King of the Underworld," Chen Feng shot up from the sofa as a jolt ran through him. His eyes filled with shock and a deep sense of respect.
"Hello, Mr. King of the Underworld. H-how can I help you?" Chen Feng asked cautiously.
"I need you to find the location of Chen Jiachong of the Chen Gang," Lin Kuang said calmly. "I'll transfer the payment to you afterward."
"Of course! Please wait a moment. I'll have his location for you in ten minutes," Chen Feng replied swiftly. He had absolute faith in the King of the Underworld's credibility; besides, information on Chen Jiachong wasn't particularly expensive.
"Very well. I'll be waiting," Lin Kuang said before hanging up.
He had great faith in the Wumi Building. Aside from a handful of people, he knew the organization better than anyone. It operated in the gray area between light and shadow, moving mysteriously and appearing on the surface to be a simple purveyor of secrets. But one must not forget that the Wumi Building had branches all over the world. Without immense power, it would have been reduced to ruins long ago. After all, achieving what they did would be impossible without a formidable force backing them, especially for an entity like the Wumi Building.
Lin Kuang waited quietly for Chen Feng's return call. Time seemed to crawl. Ten minutes felt as long as an entire night.
Ten minutes later, his phone rang. He checked the screen; it was Chen Feng.
"Did you find him?" Lin Kuang asked.
"Yes, Mr. King of the Underworld, we've located him," Chen Feng said respectfully before relaying Chen Jiachong's exact location.
"Excellent. I'll transfer the information fee to you by tomorrow at the latest," Lin Kuang said with a smile, pleased to have the intel. He had no reason to doubt it; the Wumi Building trafficked in information, and their business would collapse if their intel was inaccurate.
"Mr. King of the Underworld, you're too kind," Chen Feng said quickly with a smile. "There's no need to pay for such a trifle. Please, consider it a gift from the Wumi Building."
Chen Feng's intention was to use this piece of information to have Lin Kuang owe him—or rather, the Wumi Building—a favor. Of course, that's probably wishful thinking. A favor from the King of the Underworld can't be bought with something so trivial.
To his absolute ecstasy, however, Lin Kuang actually agreed.
"Alright then. In that case, I won't be polite. I'll consider it a favor I owe you," Lin Kuang said with a chuckle, a playful smirk touching his lips.
Lin Kuang wasn't a fool; he knew exactly how valuable his favors were. But since it was the Wumi Building, he didn't mind. After all, the Wumi Building belonged to *that* person. If the organization was ever in trouble, he would help without question, let alone simply owe them a favor.
"M-Mr. King of the Underworld... you... you really agree?" Even though Chen Feng was a significant figure in his own right, he was so shocked by Lin Kuang's words that he stammered. It was simply unbelievable!
"I do. Why? Does Mr. Chen think my favor isn't worth the information fee?" Lin Kuang teased.
"Ah! No, no, no! Not at all, Mr. King of the Underworld! You jest!" Chen Feng said hurriedly. "Your favor is worth a great deal! Extremely valuable!"
"Alright, I have other things to do. We'll talk another time." With that, Lin Kuang hung up and ordered his men to drive to Chen Jiachong's real location.
Chen Feng was left sitting on the sofa in a stupor, unable to understand why Lin Kuang would agree. Was it really over a measly million-dollar info fee? A favor from the King of the Underworld is worth its weight in gold! How could a mere million possibly catch his eye?
