Chapter 58: Chapter 58: King of the Wild Wolves

"I know a little about your situation, Lin Kuang. Old Man Lin might have his own unspoken difficulties. When you have time, you should go and see him," Yang Wucheng said coolly, glancing at Lin Kuang. "I heard his health isn’t very good, especially lately. Doctors have been visiting him often."

Upon hearing this, Lin Kuang’s body went rigid. A complex expression filled his eyes. Some things were difficult for him, which was why he was reluctant to bring them up. They left him feeling conflicted and pained.

"Here," Yang Wucheng said, handing Lin Kuang a specially-supplied Little Panda cigarette.

Lin Kuang accepted it without ceremony. Yang Wucheng lit it for him before lighting his own.

"Regardless, they are your family, and family is always the most important thing. You might think I’m saying too much, but let me tell you, some matters are more complicated than you can imagine. Sometimes, a person in power is forced to make certain sacrifices. Perhaps you already understand all this but just can’t bring yourself to accept it yet. That’s fine. You’ll figure it out sooner or later. I just hope you can come to terms with it sooner. It will be better for both you and your family. Besides, the old man isn’t getting any younger," Yang Wucheng said, exhaling a puff of smoke.

He wouldn’t have said so much to anyone else, but this was Lin Kuang—a man who had carried a severely wounded comrade on his back while breaking out of an encirclement of over a hundred enemies to reach a safe zone. A hardened warrior of such profound loyalty deserved Yang Wucheng’s respect, and it was why he was willing to say so much.

"Yes, I’ll do it as soon as I can. Thank you, Uncle Yang," Lin Kuang said with a smile, taking a deep drag from his cigarette.

"Good. I hope so," Yang Wucheng replied, smiling as well. "Oh, right, let me make some introductions. This is my wife, Zhang Qian. This is my older daughter, Yang Ruotong, and this is my younger daughter, Yang Ruoxi," he introduced with a smile.

Lin Kuang nodded at the three of them in greeting.

"Grandpa, you’re playing favorites! What about me? My name is Xinxin!" the little imp, Xinxin, whined playfully from her spot in Yang Wucheng’s arms.

"Haha, you’re right! And here is our little treasure, Xinxin," Yang Wucheng said with a hearty laugh, clearly fond of the endearingly mischievous little girl.

Xinxin’s antics made everyone else laugh, lightening the somewhat tense atmosphere considerably.

"Lin Kuang," Yang Wucheng began once the laughter died down, "Ruoxi told me something about her having an Extreme Yin Body. What is that all about?"

At his question, the beautiful Zhang Qian, Yang Ruotong, and Yang Ruoxi all turned their curious eyes toward Lin Kuang. Although he had already explained it to Yang Ruoxi yesterday, she hadn’t fully understood. 𝓯𝙧𝓮𝓮𝒘𝓮𝙗𝙣𝒐𝒗𝒆𝓵.𝓬𝓸𝒎

Seeing their expectant faces, Lin Kuang didn’t hold back. "The Extreme Yin Body is a very special constitution. If someone with it were to practice Martial Arts, they would improve at a phenomenal rate. However, this constitution is also fatal for a woman. If no one can neutralize it, she will certainly die. Even the balancing power of Tai Chi is useless. As it happens, I possess the Extreme Yang Constitution, one of pure, unyielding yang. That’s the only reason I can help Ruoxi. Otherwise, my hands would be tied."

Lin Kuang spoke bluntly, concealing nothing. The three women nodded, only vaguely grasping the concept, while Yang Wucheng nodded in full understanding. Although he wasn’t a Martial Arts master, his position meant that he was privy to certain esoteric knowledge.

"What a coincidence. Lin Kuang, in that case, I’ll have to trouble you with my daughter. I believe you can cure her," Yang Wucheng said with a smile, looking at Lin Kuang.

"I definitely can, though I can’t be sure how long it will take. But as long as I’m here, Ruoxi will not die. I guarantee it!" Lin Kuang said with a smile, the tone of a soldier slipping into his voice.

"Haha! Spoken like the Wolf King of the Wild Wolves Special Forces! I like that kind of spirit! Lin Kuang, if you ever get tired of staying in Yanjing, come to the East Sea. I can’t give you the commander-in-chief’s seat, but I can at least get you a post as deputy commander!" Yang Wucheng boomed with laughter.

His words might have sounded like a joke, but he was completely serious. If Lin Kuang were to actually show up, he would make it happen. Talent like his was rare in the entire country, and Yang Wucheng would be absolutely delighted if the East Sea Military Region could recruit him.

"Ahem, Uncle Yang, let’s talk about that some other time. I’m going to treat Ruoxi now. It will take at least twenty minutes, and I hope we won’t be disturbed," Lin Kuang said with a smile as he stood up.

"No problem, you two go on ahead. Your aunt and I will cook a few dishes. We can have a drink afterward. I hear you can really hold your liquor," Yang Wucheng said, his admiration for Lin Kuang plain to see.

"In that case, I’ll gladly accept. We can talk more when I come back down," Lin Kuang replied with a smile.

Yang Wucheng nodded, and Lin Kuang headed upstairs with Yang Ruoxi, entering her room once again.

"Same as yesterday?" Yang Ruoxi asked, her pretty face flushing as she glanced at him.

"Yep. If you don’t like the bed, we can do it on the floor. It’s all the same," Lin Kuang said with a laugh.

Hearing this, Yang Ruoxi’s face instantly turned a shade of crimson so deep it looked as if it might drip blood. After shooting him a fierce glare, she climbed onto the bed and obediently sat cross-legged.

Lin Kuang was a little confused. Why was she glaring at him? But then he replayed what he’d just said... "on the bed," "do it on the floor"... Those phrases really did sound incredibly awkward! At this thought, his own face flushed. That wasn’t what he meant, of course, but his words really did sound like it.

"Ahem, Ruoxi, just now... I didn’t mean it like that. Don’t get the wrong idea," he explained awkwardly as he sat behind her.

His explanation only made things worse. Yang Ruoxi’s face grew even redder, making her look breathtakingly beautiful.

"You jerk! Hurry up and start the treatment! And stop talking!" she snapped, biting her lip.

"Uh, right. Ahem. Here I go," Lin Kuang said.

But instead of starting immediately, he took her wrist to check her pulse. He needed to assess the situation first, after all.

As he felt the condition within Yang Ruoxi’s body, Lin Kuang’s expression suddenly changed, a wave of surprise washing over him.

Being so close, Yang Ruoxi clearly saw the shock on his face. When she saw that look, the blush on her own drained away, leaving her pale. "So, it’s true... I really can’t escape death, can I?"
