Urban Miracle Doctor-Chapter 303 I am Prepared to Test the Poison with My Own Body
Chapter 303: Chapter 303 I am Prepared to Test the Poison with My Own Body
On the one hand, Chen Yonghao was a virology expert who had been sent overnight from the capital and was the head of the viral research on the Jiangcheng epidemic; on the other hand, Qin Han was a doctor with exceptional medical skills.
In his heart, Ming Xizhi was inclined toward Qin Han since having Qin Han, who possessed almost miraculous medical skills, was more reliable than a bookworm who stayed only in the lab.
Now that these two were butting heads, it wasn’t something Ming Xizhi could resolve with a simple word; he could have Qin Han take direct charge of the research lab pod, but what if Qin Han had no results?
All the responsibility would fall on Qin Han and himself.
"I need to consult with the capital!" Ming Xizhi said in a deep voice.
Qin Han nodded. He understood Ming Xizhi’s difficulty, so he did not press him but just waited for Ming Xizhi to make the consultation.
However, some people were not so easy to speak to.
As soon as Ming Xizhi spoke, Chen Yonghaot shouted loudly, "Lord Ming, I am the head of this Jiangcheng epidemic viral research appointed by the capital. I have absolute command over the research lab, and even though you are the governor of Zhongzhou Province, you do not have the right to report."
"Because according to the regulations for handling special events, you and I are of equal rank!"
Upon hearing Chen Yonghao’s words, Ming Xizhi was obviously taken aback, and so were the doctors in the pod; was this Professor Chen an idiot? Equal rank?
Longguo did have regulations for handling special events, but those rights were granted to rescue personnel for resolving conflicts that arose during rescue efforts, not for being truly equal to a governor!
Otherwise, every natural disaster would produce a governor-level person, and before long, Longguo would be a ’nation of governors’.
"Professor Chen, 48 hours have already passed. If it weren’t for Doctor Qin’s arrival, we still wouldn’t know how the virus attacks humans," Ming Xizhi said, his face darkening after a brief pause.
Are these research experts’ brains kicked by a donkey?
He had already given him face by not replacing him on the spot, merely mentioning reporting to the capital, and he actually dared to discuss being equals!
"Virological research takes time, time! This is research, not eating, which could be done in minutes!" Chen Yonghao said frantically.
"But our people are facing death and mutations! We have already conducted three living human experiments, so why isn’t there any solution yet?" Ming Xizhi said angrily.
"Virology is a precise discipline. I need to observe the vital signs of patients at various stages, and don’t you think it’s very likely this virus isn’t harmful to humans but could be a primordial virus that helps human evolution!" Chen Yonghao said sternly, his tone carrying a hint of excitement.
"Living human experiments? You actually used live humans for experiments?" Qin Han interjected, hearing the exchange between Ming Xizhi and Chen Yonghao, his face filled with anger.
"Mr. Qin, I’ll explain this to you later..." Ming Xizhi, realizing he had misspoken, hastily interjected.
"Explain what to him? For research, necessary sacrifices are needed! People who haven’t culturally elevated can only see from their narrow point of view!" Chen Yonghao said disdainfully.
"Ming Xizhi, I don’t have time to waste words with you. People outside are waiting to die! If it doesn’t work, I’ll contact someone myself to send over the equipment," Qin Han said coldly, his face stern.
Ming Xizhi, seemingly making a decision, enacted, "From this moment on, Qin Han is fully in charge of the research lab pod!"
The doctors inside the research lab pod cheered excitedly, "That’s great!"
"I object, Ming Xizhi, you have no command over me, and as a virology expert, letting a general doctor handle the research is irresponsible to the people," Chen Yonghao raged furiously.
"Doctors from the First Hospital, fully cooperate with Dr. Qin on the virus research; there are hardly any doctors left at Jiangcheng Central Hospital, it’s up to you to quickly come up with a cure!" Ming Xizhi said sternly, then turned to Chen Yonghao, "Chen Yonghao, you are now under Dr. Qin’s command. If you do not cooperate with the research, please leave the research lab pod immediately!"
"I will never cooperate! I’m going to contact the capital; this is an abuse of power!" Chen Yonghao protested as he walked toward the exit of the research lab pod.
"Do what you want! I’ll take full responsibility!" Ming Xizhi said with a cold snort.
"Dr. Qin, it’s up to you now!"
Qin Han nodded at Ming Xizhi and said, "Don’t worry, I won’t let you take that damn blame!"
"Meimei, go get the live virus!" Qin Han said to Zhong Meimei.
"Yes!"
When Zhong Meimei retrieved the live virus and came over to Qin Han, just as she was about to pick up the slide, she found that Qin Han had already picked it up first. He then took the live blood from Zhong Meimei and dropped a droplet onto the slide.
He then placed it under the electron microscope and started examining.
The other people in the research lab’s containment unit were surprised by Qin Han’s skilled adjustment of the microscope’s focus knob.
"Isn’t Dr. Qin a practitioner of traditional medicine?"
"I didn’t expect Dr. Qin to be so knowledgeable about this research equipment too!"
Qin Han looked into the observation view. Under the magnification of the electron microscope, he saw dark virus cells in human blood, continuously devouring the existing red blood cells.
He looked up at the bottle storing the live virus blood, noticed the color had turned somewhat black, and asked, "When was this live virus extracted?"
"About an hour ago!" Zhong Meimei replied.
"The virus’s devouring speed has increased!" Qin Han said sternly.
Looking again at the virus under the microscope, Qin Han raised his head in surprise.
Seeing Qin Han’s shocked expression, Zhong Meimei quickly asked, "Dr. Qin, what’s wrong?"
"I need everyone to do something, and it might be dangerous!" Qin Han suddenly said.
"Just say it, Dr. Qin, we are not afraid!" the others in the containment unit spoke up.
Qin Han took a deep breath and said, "I need you to split into three groups and talk to three different stages of infected individuals. You can talk about anything, but make sure to record their expressions and thought patterns for me!"
"This is very important!"
As soon as Qin Han finished speaking, he noticed that the doctors had already started to form groups autonomously. Each person carried a notepad, beginning to head outside the research lab containment unit.
After everyone left, Zhong Meimei asked with some confusion, "Dr. Qin, why do we need to record the expressions and thought patterns of individuals infected at different times?"
"Under my microscope, I saw resentment in the live virus cells! I suspect this is not a simple epidemic virus; it could likely be a manmade virus, similar to a Gu poison but not actually Gu poison," Qin Han said calmly.
Upon hearing this, Zhong Meimei almost cried out, her face shocked as she looked at Qin Han.
Who would create such a virus? And what are their intentions?
"This is only my hypothesis. We still need to verify it further!" Qin Han said calmly.
Then, Qin Han took some herbs from his backpack, soaked them, and directly dropped them onto the slide. Looking again, he found that the dark virus seemed momentarily fearful of the herbs he had introduced, but it was only for a moment. Then, instead of being scared, it devoured the herbal cells completely!
"I’m going to test the toxicity of this virus!"
