Urban Super Soldier King-Chapter 872: Blatantly Freeloading Meals
Chapter 872: Chapter 872: Blatantly Freeloading Meals
Ren Baohe noticed that Xiang Yu actually hung up his call. Instead of getting angry, he looked at his phone and chuckled.
"Interesting. People from small towns are all so foolish." After saying this, Ren Baohe picked up his phone and made another call—to He Guisheng.
He Guisheng, having just become a boss, was in high spirits and felt like everything was falling into place.
In the past, he could only dream of sitting in this position. Ever since meeting Xiang Yu and his group, it seemed like his luck had turned around.
"Xiang Yu, oh Xiang Yu, I really ought to thank you." He Guisheng sprawled comfortably in his spacious office, legs crossed, savoring the moment as sunlight poured warmly in.
Just then, his phone rang. It was Ren Baohe. Without even waiting for the other side to speak, he said, "Ren Baohe, I don’t want the advance payment anymore. Just handle Xiang Yu for me. I want pictures of him blown to pieces."
"This call is about that exact topic. I’ve already taken the money, so there’s no reason for me to return it. By the way, you’re not allowed to touch Xiang Yu. That’s it." Ren Baohe finished speaking and immediately hung up.
At this point, Ren Baohe found himself becoming intrigued by Xiang Yu. He decided to personally deal with him, without letting anyone else intervene.
Meanwhile, He Guisheng was trembling with rage as he sat in his chair, grinding his teeth. He’d hired Ren Baohe expressly to blow up Xiang Yu’s track and eliminate him, but now Ren Baohe wouldn’t let him act against his target.
"Don’t think just because I can’t rely on you that I won’t take care of him. Piss me off, and I’ll take you down with him!" He Guisheng snarled viciously as he sat there.
After Xiang Yu hung up the phone, he instinctively headed to the City Mall. He knew that Ren Baohe wasn’t the type to talk idly; clearly, he had a plan, which was why he’d brought it up.
The City Mall was the very heart of the city—the busiest area and the hub of large crowds.
If Xiang Yu were a terrorist, this would be the ideal place to plant a bomb. Xiang Yu walked from the first floor all the way to the top floor, inspecting every corner and getting a general grasp of the structure and layout.
After wandering around, he didn’t buy anything. This behavior made the mall security think he might be a thief, so they brought him to the security room for questioning.
"What’s your business wandering around for no reason?" The head of security scrutinized Xiang Yu and asked.
"Just checking if anyone’s planted a bomb here." Xiang Yu replied nonchalantly.
The security guards burst into laughter.
"So, did you find a bomb?" the head guard asked.
"Not yet," Xiang Yu replied calmly. He knew they didn’t believe him and didn’t expect them to, as raising alarms unnecessarily could cause chaos.
When the guards saw Xiang Yu rambling on, they assumed he had some psychological issues and let him leave.
By the time Xiang Yu walked out of the mall, it was already 11:30 in the morning. He originally intended to hail a cab back to the hotel, but then he spotted Fang Rong parking her car not far away.
Fang Rong also saw Xiang Yu. Seeing him walk out of the mall empty-handed, she immediately guessed he’d foolishly wandered around aimlessly. The mall was the perfect playground for idle drifters.
"Want to grab lunch together?" Xiang Yu offered, remembering how she treated him to a meal last time—he owed her one in return.
"I already have plans today. Why don’t you join us instead?" Fang Rong made a half-hearted invitation.
"Sure, I’m pretty hungry right now. Where are we eating?" Xiang Yu agreed without hesitation.
Fang Rong: "..."
Fang Rong hadn’t expected Xiang Yu to accept so quickly. If she’d known, she wouldn’t have made the offer. But since the words were already out, there was no turning back.
However, this lunch meeting was quite important to her. She needed to explain to Cheng Wanli that she wasn’t the person he was looking for.
Calling Xiang Yu along felt inappropriate, especially since he was dressed in wrinkled casual wear, which was barely presentable.
Fang Rong’s face darkened slightly as she struggled to figure out how to navigate the situation. Just then, Cheng Wanli appeared nearby and called out to her upon spotting her.
Fang Rong noticed Cheng Wanli approaching and responded with an awkward smile.
"Let’s head in together," Cheng Wanli said with a polite smile, glancing at Fang Rong.
Fang Rong nodded and followed him toward a fancy clubhouse.
While not as upscale as Xiang Yu’s Tianyu Hotel, this place was known for its exquisite dining—which was why it occupied such a central spot in the city.
Without a word, Xiang Yu tagged along behind Fang Rong toward the entrance.
Cheng Wanli noticed something out of place and turned back to glance at Xiang Yu. Smiling at Fang Rong, he asked, "And who might this be?"
Fang Rong hadn’t anticipated Xiang Yu’s audacity. This was a posh venue frequented by the wealthy, and here he was—clearly outclassed. The surroundings clashed starkly with his obvious ordinariness.
But Xiang Yu’s expression remained completely unfazed, as if he belonged there.
"He’s my friend," Fang Rong answered stiffly, forcing a smile.
She felt her face burning with embarrassment, as though Xiang Yu was single-handedly ruining her reputation.
Cheng Wanli’s eyes flickered briefly with surprise but quickly returned to his usual composed demeanor. He extended his hand toward Xiang Yu with a calm smile.
"Hello," Cheng Wanli greeted warmly.
Having seen much of the world, Cheng Wanli knew how to mask his emotions—a skill he practiced rigorously. freewebnøvel.coɱ
Xiang Yu nonchalantly extended his hand and shook Cheng Wanli’s, then asked, "Which room did you book? Let’s get up there, I’m starving."
Fang Rong: "..."
Even Cheng Wanli couldn’t suppress his laughter. With a chuckle, he replied, "Second floor. Follow me."
Despite Cheng Wanli’s cultivated refinement, he couldn’t help but be amused by Xiang Yu’s brashness.
Xiang Yu carried himself with the air of a VIP, but his poor taste in clothing clearly marked him as someone with little means.
What puzzled Cheng Wanli was how Xiang Yu, a seemingly low-class individual, didn’t act curious or intimidated in such an upscale venue. Instead, he seemed entirely at ease, as though he frequented spots like this all the time.
Fang Rong walked behind them, keeping her head down and staying quiet. She felt mortified—whatever shred of dignity she had left was being trampled by Xiang Yu. She regretted ever inviting him.
"Take a seat," Xiang Yu said as he walked into the room and immediately sat down casually.
Cheng Wanli had initially intended to exchange polite words. Seeing Xiang Yu casually grab an apple from the table and start eating, Cheng Wanli shook his head and sighed inwardly, choosing not to say anything and simply sitting down as well.
"May I ask, what line of work are you in?" Cheng Wanli probed diplomatically.
"Nothing specific," Xiang Yu replied between bites of the apple.
"I see." Cheng Wanli nodded subtly. "Since you’re friends with Fang Rong, I’m curious how you two met?"
At this moment, Cheng Wanli simply wanted to figure out Xiang Yu’s background—what kind of person he was and what sort of relationship he had with Fang Rong. He suspected there might even be a connection to Sun Bo...
