Yeon’s POV
Being the Luna of my own pack, I have seen many moments that has broken my heart, seen many that has healed me and seen many that has convinced me on true love.
It’s not it yet, but I recognize it when I see it...even when I question it.
I watch as the girl looks at Yunah with conflict in her eyes.
Her fists are clenched and her lips pressed tight, she looks ready to fight if need be, the way she did when I had to take her from Yujun’s side.
It makes me wonder about her, her past, her person...this Gawon lady, is she a good fit for Yunah?
Yunah is a child that has only known pain all her life, she doesn’t need any more of it.
"You...you didn’t leave" Yunah says, still sniffling from the tears as she takes a step towards the other lady.
"I did" Gawon says and Yunah’s scent sours immediately, "I left, I was going to find my way but...I just couldn’t" the girl says.
My shoulders fall with ease, at least she isn’t a liar.
She looks like she might hurt Yunah by being blunt and stiff like my own husband but one thing is certain, she will be loyal if she swears it.
"You didn’t...you didn’t want to stay" Yunah whispers and I am tempted to pull her back to my chest, to cradle her and comfort her.
To shield, the pure child from the world but I know she has to face this by herself, if she will be strong and overcome.
"I didn’t want to, I don’t trust anyone" Gawon says and her eyes flickers to me then returns to Yunah.
"But you...I couldn’t get into the taxi and forget you" she says and Yunah runs to hug her.
I fold my arms across my chest as my kitchen is filled with the scent of vanilla and chocolate.
"I’m so happy you came back, I was so scared" Yunah says and the lady just stays frozen as Yunah hugs her tightly.
She blinks in confusion, obviously a stranger to affection like this.
’We have so much work to do’ my omega says, wagging his tail in excitement, always happy to have a new pup to tend to.
"What you said about mates...is it true?" Gawon asks and Yunah looks at her.
"You don’t feel it too?" Yunah asks in confusion, "I-" the girl starts and looks at me again.
"You can say whatever, Yeon mom is my mom" Yunah says and my Omega swells with pride at being addressed as her mom, even when I’m not.
"I’ll tell you later" Gawon murmurs and my husband walks into the kitchen.
"Good morning" he greets gruffly.
"Dad!" Yunah squeals runs over to hug him, she looks like a child hugging a bear as she put her arms around him.
I love how easily her heart turns, how easily she throws her sadness under the bus and embrace joy. 𝕗𝗿𝕖𝐞𝐰𝗲𝕓𝐧𝕠𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝐨𝚖
Our sunshine Yunah.
"Uh...Honey..." my husband calls for me, stiffening the same way Gawon did when Yunah hugged her and I chuckle under my breath.
"Get used to it" I say, laughing as he pries Yunah’s hands off him and walks over to me to wrap his arms around me.
"Dad" Yunah fake whines before returning to her mate.
I lean into my Lord, letting my body melt into his, in love with the way he hold me like I am all he has.
It’s been over thirty years and his love for me hasn’t changed, it’s still the same.
The same devotion, the same affection, the same honor and most importantly, the same heart.
"Who’s she?" he asks me quietly.
"That’s Gawon, Yunah’s mate" I respond to him, he hums and pats my head, just looking for reasons to keep his hands on me.
I laugh gently when Yujun walks in with Jaehyun plastered to his back.
"Good morning" the younger male omega greets and bows deeply to me and my husband.
My husband growls in his chest and I jab him with my elbow.
"Our son’s mate" I growl at him and he mutters something about being old and forgetting things under his breath.
"Yujun-ah, be comfortable hmm, this is our family now" my husband says and I smile up at him, proud at his attempt to give Yujun a warm welcome.
I see Jaehyun and his father exchanging the ’we have to talk’ look but I ignore it, it doesn’t matter to me.
It’s father and son business, the only thing that matters to me is that, in this house, love is found, nurtured and kept alive.
It’s what I’ve always wanted.
Yunah is sticking to Gawon’s side like the other will run away again and Jaehyun is whining on Yujun’s shoulder.
Cleaning my throat, I hit my glass cup lightly on the table before turning to speak loudly to my husband.
"Honey, we really have to work towards expanding the house" I say to him, aware of the attentions on me.
"Why? I thought you wanted a cozy home" my Lord says as he brushes a lock of hair out of my face and I smile.
"Well, our children spent the whole night trying to create-"
"Mom!" Jaehyun and Yunah shout at the same time and Yujun gasps a very small, "Yeon-ssi".
"What? What better thing do I have to do than to remind you to stop being loud?" I say and satisfied with my joke, I kiss my husband on the cheek, ready to leave for work.
"I’ll drive you" my alpha says and follows me out of the kitchen after I tell the kids goodbye for the day.
"Are you happy?" he asks me as we walk down the hall.
"Yes...I’m happy, it’s all I’ve ever wanted" I say.
I don’t need to go into details for him to know what I’m talking about, he knows too well, we don’t look up we walk past the cherub we made for our first pup.
The first child we lost together.
"Yujun looks healthy" my Lord says and I hum in agreement, grateful for his strength.
"He’s a lot stronger than I was at his age" I respond and my husband pulls me for a hug.
"Yeon-ah" he calls my name softly and I look up at him.
"I’m proud of you, my love" he says before dipping down to press a kiss on my lips, breaking apart only when a pack member coos as she walks by.
"I hope you know I will fight for you" he says and I and the one who pulls him down for a kiss this time around.
"You know I will fight for you" I say to him.
Telling him that we’re both aware of the dangers we’re calling on ourselves for taking in those kids.
Still...we fight, no matter what comes.
None of those babies will suffer anymore pains.
I will make sure of it.
