Valerian, The Legendary-Chapter 274 - The Curse Of The Dead.
274 The Curse Of The Dead.
Valerian just fastened the circulation of the Decay magic inside him and threatened the beast under his dagger. However, before he could utilize the power of decay, a voice sounded inside his mind, ‘You will fail the trial, Valerian. This power does not belong to you until it can influence your consciousness. Do you understand?’
Valerian said, ‘Fortuna, could you not have come and directly disqualified me after I used that power? You brat.’
Fortuna replied, ‘Whom are you calling a brat? You wait for this battle to end. I will beat you to a pulp.’
Valerian scoffed and began to think about what he should do now. But unfortunately, this rule was not introduced earlier, and this surprise completely spoiled his action plan.
Just as he was thinking about what to do, the dark wolf shook off his head, and the unprepared Valerian was flung away. The young man fell to the ground just as he regained his foothold. He found that the dark wolf had come out of the black hole and howled at the skies.
The Valkyrian elders and the troops in the distance were all down on their knees, with their foreheads resting on the ground. They were worshipping their god.
In the distance, Morgana, Ashlyn, and Lyon watched this scene unfold with surprise. Then, finally, the Empress of Centaur said, “This creature is not a normal magical.”
Lyon and Ashlyn shrugged as the lady said, “We have never seen magical, so we do not know, but what is the difference between this guy and the one you have seen?”
Morgana said, “I do not know how to describe it, but this guy does not make me feel that noble aura radiating from him.”
.....
Lyon said, “I do not know whether this guy is noble, but I am worried if Prince Valerian will be able to make it through this ordeal.”
The two ladies also had solemn expressions when they heard this sentence.
…
Valerian looked at the dark wolf, and the latter was also glaring at Valerian with hatred and rage in his eyes. The emotions displayed by the beast were strong enough almost to materialize. The dark wolf was an entity that could be compared to a god.
Gods were entities with the power to change the entire planet on whims. Vita was the goddess of life, she could give life to things from nothing, but she was also strong enough to erase things into nothing.
This dark wolf was also a god in some manner. The creature opened his mouth, and a hoarse voice sounded in the void, “You little human trash, how dare you attack me? How dare you think you can get me to do what you wish? You called me a mutt, right? I will shred you alive.”
The beast vanished from his place, and while the audience was having mixed thoughts, Valerian cast a light spell, and his entire body started to glow. The dark wolf shirked away and snarled.
Valerian took back his spell, and the beast said, “Let me see how long you can cast this spell. Once your mana runs out, you will be finished, and so will your nation.”
The young prince did not falter and rushed to attack the beast with a shining white dagger. The dagger was made to channel light magic, enough to make the Dark wolf waver and move around to dodge the attacks.
After ten minutes, the game of tag came to an end. The dark wolf was standing on the field. He said, “You want to catch me? Hahahaha, I will give you an eternity if you can even touch the hair on my tail. I will spare you. What do you think?”
The mockery was evident, and he made no effort to hide it either. However, what Valerian said next was enough to shatter the delusions of this guy.
The young human said, “Look around you, and then tell me what you see, mutt.”
The dark wolf growled at this remark and said, “Why should I look around if you ask me to look around, ant? I will not look at you around. What can you do?”
Valerian chuckled, saying, “To think you only grew in your body, not your brain. Such a poor puppy you are. Allow me to show you.”
The young man snapped his fingers, and then the drops of water appeared in the surroundings. The drops were a little tiny, but they covered a big area. The Dark Wolf chuckled and said, “What are you trying to do? Bath me?”
Valerian shook his head, and then, with a snap of his fingers, the drops of water crystallized, and then a blob of light appeared above Valerian’s head. The crystallized beads reflected the light falling on them, and these reflections all landed on various parts of the Dark Wolf.
This made him squint his eyes and growl hard. Finally, the young man chuckled and said, “Yes, I am planning to bathe you, but in your blood.”
After this, Valerian took out the swords he had bought from the magical realm. Then he infused a battle aura in his body and rushed forward at full speed. Now he would not hold back and would use his methods to deal with it.
He was not as helpless against this guy as he looked to be. Size should not be used to judge the potential of a creature. Valerian was rushing towards the dark wolf, and the beast was stomping on the ground in a rampage to shake off the light falling on his body.
Valerian cast multiple rippling spear spells under the dark wolf. The next moment the raging growls were mixed with painful scowls. The dark wolf could not release his spells due to the seal cast by Vita.
All that dark mana was concentrated inside his body, and being unable to vent it weakened his resistance to the light magic. However, his physical abilities allowed this guy to be faster and more robust than anything else.
If someone asked Valerian what it was like to fight this beast. Then the young man would say it was like fighting a dragon without mana or fire breath. Valerian dodged all the spears coming out of the ground and reached close to the ankle of the gigantic paw.
He was aware that his sword could not leave a significant injury, so he infused light magic on the surface of his blade. Following this thought, the young man channeled even more light mana, and the sword extended in length.
Valerian took a deep breath and slashed the light sword at the ankle of the dark wolf. The pain was so excruciating that the wolf howled and fell to the ground.
The people were shocked to see this, but Valerian did not stop. He kept on attacking when he noticed the beast being able to regenerate. The healing process was faster than the rate of damage affliction.
…
Boo-too was surprised and said, “I did not expect him to come out like this. Bringing the dark wolf to his knees is a big achievement. Why don’t you tell him that he passed the trial when he decided to face the guy?”
Fortuna looked at the child on the ground fighting with the Dark wolf without holding back and said, “I wanted him to look at me to help him in his situation. But look at his brain. He managed to render a god-level creature helpless.
If I told him that this trial was for nothing and just a test to see if he dares to face death, then all his effort till now would be for naught. I want to maintain his morale. Let him do what he wants. The dark wolf will not die. We both know that. Also, this treatment he is facing is just.”
Boo-too did not know how to answer her and fell silent.
…
On the ground, Morgana and Ashlyn were holding hands. Lyon was watching the battle with his eyes wide open. He said, “I did not expect him to be this strong.”
The two ladies nodded. At this moment, they found out that the young man in the distance was always strong enough to render all their plans and struggles useless, relying on his brute strength.
The magical realm had only refined his edges. The battle quotient did not increase but was more controlled. The way Valerian was fighting now was something they did not expect from him.

While everyone thought Valerian was invincible, the dark wolf let out a growl. The next moment, all the corpses around the battlefield began to twitch. Finally, the beast said, “This is why Vita sealed me, kid. This is my innate strength. I am not the dark wolf. I am but the hound of death. Now you must face my special magic, the curse of the dead.”
Valerian did not stop his attack. He did not wish to pay mind to anyone else at this moment, and the rest of the people were strong enough to protect themselves. He only said, ‘Fortuna, tell us what is this curse?’
