Vampire Progenitor System-Chapter 181: Home
Darkness swallowed them.
The world twisted around Lucifer and Luna, shadows coiling in silent spirals as their bodies dissolved into black mist. For a moment, there was nothing. No light. No sound. Only a quiet, endless void pressing into their skin like cold iron.
Then—reality snapped back.
They crashed down onto hard stone. Lucifer landed first, his feet slamming into the cracked ground with a quiet, bone-deep thud. The impact rippled outward in faint arcs of black mist. Luna collapsed against him, her knees scraping against rough stone as she gasped for breath, clutching his coat with trembling fingers.
She coughed faintly, dust filling her mouth as she looked up. The world around them was pitch black, lit only by flickering torches mounted along towering walls of carved obsidian. Heavy stone pillars stretched up into unseen darkness, each one engraved with runes that pulsed faint crimson in the dim gloom.
"Where... where are we...?" she whispered, her voice shaking.
Lucifer didn’t answer. His crimson eyes flickered faintly as he scanned the silent hall. His white hair drifted across his face in the cold breeze that whistled through the distant arches. His ears caught the faintest sounds—breaths held in shadows. Footsteps muffled by silent training. The soft scrape of metal against leather.
They were not alone.
Suddenly—movement.
A figure blitzed out of the darkness, flickering forward in a blur of speed that cracked the stone under its feet. Its eyes burned bright red in the dim gloom, fangs bared as it lunged toward Lucifer with claws extended, aiming straight for his throat.
Lucifer didn’t move. His aura pulsed outward in silent contempt.
The attacker’s wrist stopped mid-air, caught in his grip. Bones shattered instantly under his fingers. The figure gasped in silent horror, its red eyes widening as Lucifer twisted his wrist, snapping the arm backward at an unnatural angle.
With a flick of his free hand, Lucifer’s claws buried themselves in the figure’s chest. Blood erupted from its mouth in a choking gasp as his fingers tore through flesh and bone, ripping out its still-beating heart in a single fluid motion.
He dropped the body without looking at it.
More flickers of movement burst out of the shadows. Dozens. Vampires. Each one clad in black leathers marked with crimson runes, their eyes burning with silent, savage hunger. They roared in unison, their fangs gleaming in the flickering torchlight as they charged at him from every angle.
Lucifer stepped forward.
His wings flickered into existence behind him, massive and black, feathers dripping thin trails of crimson mist onto the cracked stone below. His aura exploded outward in a silent quake, rippling through the hall like a living tide of suffocating darkness.
He vanished.
Appeared behind the first vampire, his clawed fingers already buried in its skull. The vampire screamed once before its head exploded into drifting crimson mist. Before the blood even hit the ground, Lucifer had moved again, appearing beside another attacker and driving his fist through its chest, ripping out its spine in a single brutal pull.
They screamed around him. Shadows flickered with silent bursts of crimson light as he moved through them like a phantom of death. Claws tore through flesh. Bones shattered under his fists. Blood splattered across the silent hall in flickering arcs as he ripped through them with quiet, effortless brutality.
One vampire lunged from behind with twin curved blades, slicing down at his wings. Lucifer didn’t turn. His feathers flickered once, and the blades shattered on impact, fragments scattering across the stone like silent glass. Before the attacker could react, his head fell from his shoulders, severed by a single flick of Lucifer’s claws.
Another dove in from the side, moving almost too fast to see. Lucifer tilted his head slightly, his red eyes flickering with faint annoyance as his aura pulsed outward in a silent shockwave. The vampire’s body exploded instantly, reduced to drifting crimson mist that dissolved into the roaring darkness.
They kept coming.
Five vampires charged in unison, their bodies flickering with blood magic as dark runes burned across their skin. Lucifer raised his hand. His claws glowed deep molten red as he flicked his wrist outward, sending a crescent arc of condensed blood magic slicing through them. Their bodies fell apart mid-stride, limbs severed, torsos splitting open as they crashed down into silent, twitching heaps.
The last two lunged together, one from above, the other from below. Lucifer didn’t blink. His wings flickered, feathers slicing through the vampire above, splitting him into two silent halves. His foot came down on the head of the other attacker, crushing it into the cracked stone with a quiet, final crunch.
Silence fell.
The hall was littered with bodies. Blood dripped from his claws onto the stone, pooling around his bare feet in silent crimson ripples. His aura pulsed softly in the quiet, flickering through the drifting mist of torn flesh and broken bone.
Then—movement.
He turned.
A lone vampire stood frozen against the far wall. A woman with long dark hair tied back in a rough braid, her eyes wide with silent terror as she stared at him. Her body trembled under her leather armor, and her claws clicked faintly against the stone as she tried to keep her balance.
Lucifer tilted his head, his white hair falling across his bloodstreaked face. His crimson eyes burned quietly as he stepped forward, silent against the flickering torchlight.
She flinched back instantly, her breath catching in her throat.
"P-please... don’t... don’t come closer..." she whispered, her voice shaking with quiet terror. "Who... who are you...?"
Lucifer paused. His claws dripped faint trails of blood onto the stone as his wings folded inward behind his shoulders. For a moment, he said nothing. Then he tilted his head slightly, studying her with quiet, unblinking calm.
"Who are you?" he asked softly, his voice trembling with silent authority. "And where is this place?"
The woman swallowed hard, tears gathering in her wide red eyes as she clutched her trembling hands against her chest.
"I-I... I am Lira..." she whispered. "First guard of the Blood Gate... under Lady Ruvina... and this... this is the Vampire Realm... the outer gate sector..."
Lucifer’s breath caught faintly in his throat. His crimson eyes flickered deeper as his wings twitched behind him, feathers rustling softly in the cold, blood-scented air.
Inside his mind, Damaris’ voice rumbled quietly, deep and endless like distant thunder.
[Home.]
The word burned into his chest like a quiet brand, flickering through his bones in silent arcs of molten memory. His claws curled into trembling fists as he lowered his head, hair drifting across his bloodstreaked face.
The Vampire Realm.
Home.
Finally.
But as his aura pulsed outward in silent tremors of rage and grief, his red eyes burned brighter under the flickering torchlight.
It was his now.
And he was ready to take it back.
