Vampire's Blood Ascension-Chapter 41: Night Earring
As they walked, Rudy’s essence moved towards his head and healed it.
They cautiously neared the ruined tower, stepped inside it, and looked around.
The ruined tower had a broken ceiling from which moonlight poured, and a round, broken staircase led to the roof.
Both of them looked at each other before they nodded and slowly climbed the staircase in the anticipation of another dreadborn haunting it.
To their delight, the roof was empty.
Sera breathed a sigh of relief in her mind as she turned around and stepped down, but when she saw that Rudy was not following, she stopped and turned to him. "What’s wrong?"
Rudy came out of his daze and answered after looking at her, "Nothing’s wrong. I want to stay here for a few moments."
"I see..." Sera nodded and continued with her steps.
Rudy stared at her back, and his eyes shifted towards the roof. ’Seems like she cannot see it.’
In Rudy’s vision, at the center of the roof floated a glowing blue symbol resembling an amulet with various blue runes around it.
’Blue means rare, right? So it’s a rare accessory rune.’
He glanced at Sera from the corner of his eye and saw that she could no longer see him.
’Great,’ he remarked inwardly as he took a step forward and grabbed the glowing symbol.
The symbol exploded into blue wisps, then they entered his chest, and Final Will spoke to him.
[You have obtained an artifact.]
[Night Earring.]
He focused on the artifact’s name, and white runes appeared before him.

Rudy blinked, his lips dropped into a frown, and he thought, ’How is that description useful?’

As he read his runes, his eyes stilled on [Scarlet Sight], and he wondered, ’What if I use this on the runes of the artifact?’
According to [Scarlet Sight]’s description, it supposedly allowed him to see beyond vision itself, so he believed there was a chance for it to reveal something useful.
Without wasting any time, he followed his mind and called out to [Night Earring]’s runes and read them with [Scarlet Sight]
Runes that he couldn’t see before flickered before his eyes.

’Isn’t that too good for a rare artifact?’ Rudy mumbled inwardly, eyes wide in disbelief.
His lips curled upwards, his gaze shifted towards the floor, and he whispered, "But I can’t use it yet."
He walked to the edge of the roof and looked at the world outside with an impassive face.
As he did, the sun overtook the sky, and the dark desert was bleached by its brilliant light, turning it pale.
The dreadborns lost their bodies, and the only things that remained of them were bones and the corrupt cores that sank into the pale sand.
Rudy placed a hand above his eyes and looked forward, far away at the edge of his vision, and he could barely see ruins.
"Is that where we are going?" He mumbled under his breath, and after taking one final glance at it, he stepped down the stairs.
His gaze fell on Sera, who was sitting by the wall, fidgeting with her silver spatial ring with a flat expression.
"What’s wrong?" He asked as he set foot on the floor.
She looked at him and muttered, "Don’t try to get comfortable with me."
’Still as grumbly as ever,’ he remarked in his head and responded while walking towards the wall opposite to her, "Is that how you speak to the person you nearly got killed?" 𝘧𝓇ℯ𝑒𝓌𝑒𝑏𝓃𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘭.𝒸ℴ𝓂
"That was a misjudgment on my part," she said while looking at him.
Hearing her, he furrowed his brows. ’Is something wrong? Why did she accept it so—’
"I shouldn’t have assumed you to be more than above average," She added before Rudy could even finish his thoughts.
He clenched his fists and muttered inwardly, ’Of course!’
He shook his head as he sat by the wall and asked, "How do you plan for us to move forward?"
"As the days are much longer than the nights here, we will rest for an hour, and then we will walk to the nearest runes."
"Makes sense."
A strange sound echoed within the tower, and Rudy stared at Sera with an amused expression.
Seeing his cheeky face, a vein throbbed at her forehead, and she spewed, "What?"
He stood up, white sparks flickered around him as he walked towards her, and two packs of energy bars appeared in his hands.
He raised one in her reach and said, "You should eat something."
She stared at the pack for a moment before she took it and mumbled, "Thanks."
Rudy’s ears perked up, and he mumbled with a smug expression, "What did you say? I didn’t quite hear it."
Seraphel looked at him with a humorless expression and muttered, "Don’t amuse yourself, giant. I am only taking it because I don’t want you to spew excuses. After all, you yourself aren’t competent enough."
He waved his hands. "Sure, sure~ I bet it’s not because our Seraphel is hungry."
Veins bulged across her face; she tore the pack and muttered, "Hateful giant."
She chewed on the bar, disgust spread across her face, and spat it out. "It tastes like shit—"
"How do you know what shit tastes like? Huh? Huh?"
