Vampire's Veil Of Obsession-Chapter 43: His Room
Chapter 43 - His Room
Evie finally nodded before bowing respectfully as she spoke.
"As you wish, Miss Lilia."
Since she was under Miss Lilia's command and not Mr Zethan's, any order she received from her superior was one she needed to honor and respect.
Lilia followed Evie as she walked toward the far side of the mansion, where a small gate—more suitable for a person than for a car or any larger vehicle—stood. The gate creaked open, and Lilia found herself facing two people engaged in a sparring match. To her surprise, they wielded sword-like weapons, their movements fast and intense—almost inhuman. The speed at which they moved was too much for her eyes to follow.
Then again, perhaps it was just her perception playing tricks on her. The scene, however, was beautifully arranged. The sparring took place in a spacious, well-kept field with benches surrounding it.
Her gaze shifted, and she saw Zethan sitting on one of the benches. His legs were crossed, leaning in with an unbothered expression, as if he didn't care at all about the potential dangers the sparring participants might face. The area was laid out in a square, with strategically placed benches that allowed for a perfect view of the action. It was undeniably beautiful.
Just then, Zethan's eyes shifted toward her. Lilia stilled, inexplicably caught in his gaze. For a moment, she felt like time slowed. Then, with a quiet exhale, she began walking toward him, her footsteps light on the grass.
Evie, bowing politely, spoke up. "I'll be here if you need me, Miss Lilia."
Lilia nodded in acknowledgment.
She began walking toward Zethan's area and took a seat on the nearby bench. Just then, she heard a voice call out, "Loris, come here." There was no denying it was Zethan's voice.
For some unknown reason, she avoided his gaze, her heart beating loudly.
Lilia quietly stood and made her way toward the bench where Zethan was sitting before settling beside him.
Turning to face him, she spoke, "Good morning."
She was about to roll her eyes inwardly at the awkwardness of the situation when he unexpectedly responded, "Good morning to you, Loris."
Lilia turned to him in surprise. He usually never answered her—let alone with such politeness.
Zethan observed her, his gaze thoughtful, as if waiting for her to mention something about yesterday—perhaps an apology, or even an explanation. But she didn't.
To his surprise, she simply turned away, refocusing on the sparring match. Silence settled between them for a moment before Lilia broke it with a quiet, "Isn't that too risky?" Her eyes were still fixed on the two men, their movements so fast and fluid that she found it hard to process everything happening in front of her.
Zethan responded, his tone casual, "You don't have to worry. The blades are blunt; they won't cut too deep."
Lilia frowned, unconvinced. "But they will cut."
Zethan opened his mouth to say something, then paused, unsure of how to counter her remark. She had a point. She continued watching the match intently, her gaze unwavering.
She looked like a lost kitten discovering something new.
Zethan couldn't help but notice the way her eyes widened in curiosity, how her pink lips parted slightly in awe. Something about her focus on the sparring intrigued him more than it probably should have. He found himself studying her rather than the fighters.
The blonde-haired fighter made a decisive move, knocking his opponent's sword aside with ease. Lilia's lips curled into a faint smile, impressed by the skill she had just witnessed. "Wow, he's pretty good," she murmured to herself.
She turned to Zethan, her eyes still sparkling with interest, before glancing back at the blonde-haired man. She clapped softly, clearly enjoying the match.
Zethan's expression darkened. He reached out, gently tilting her chin toward him. "What makes you say so?" he asked, his voice almost too smooth.
Lilia met his gaze, unbothered by his sudden touch. "I've been observing him. It seems he made his opponent think he had let his guard down. That was a smart move."
She turned her attention back to the match, but her mind wandered for a moment. From what she could see, the blonde fighter was young—and, of course, handsome. She found herself enjoying the match more than she had expected.
No wonder Zethan watched sparring matches so often—it was actually entertaining, she thought. However, despite her enjoyment, she couldn't help but feel a tinge of unease. The risk was still there.
Just then, she heard him chuckle—a dark, unsettling sound that didn't quite match the light atmosphere of the match. "Oh, Loris, your fiancé is right by your side, and here you are, complimenting another man. Very brave." His voice dripped with dark amusement. "You'll be punished damn hard."
Lilia turned to him, her mouth opening and closing as she struggled to find the words. After a beat, she finally spoke. "I wasn't. I was simply stating facts."

She had no idea what she had done wrong by saying those words that would require her to be punished. She was no child, after all.
Zethan's eyes glinted, and he leaned back on the bench, crossing his arms as a sly grin played on his lips.
"Facts, you say? I see."
Before he could continue, Lilia turned away, her focus returning to the sparring match. His grin faltered, and his expression became serious.
To her surprise, the black-haired fighter executed a perfectly timed move, causing the blonde-haired opponent's sword to slip. Lilia's eyes widened in surprise, and she gasped before offering a slow, impressed clap.
Absently, she reached out and tapped Zethan's lap, still engrossed in the match. "Impressive, right?" she said, turning to him for confirmation. But as she glanced up at him, she realized he had been watching her the entire time. Her attention immediately snapped back to the sparring match, feeling slightly embarrassed.
Zethan clicked his tongue, his gaze flickering downward to her hand, which still rested innocently on his lap. She seemed completely unaware of the intimate position.
Then, his voice broke the silence. "You're moving to my room tonight, Loris."
Lilia turned to him, her expression tense. "Wait, we can't. We aren't married yet—we can't do that yet."
Zethan, however, remained composed, his voice low and teasing. "Oh, Loris, thinking dirty is very unhealthy."
"Dirty?!" Lilia was taken aback.
'What's even wrong with this man? Why would he say that I was thinking dirty?'
She was surprised, not knowing how to react to his boldness.
Zethan remained calm, unaffected by her reaction. "Calm down. You wanted a contract, didn't you? It's simply a marriage contract. Once it's signed, we're legally married. We can finalize it with a wedding later. If it's okay with you, we could simply sign the contract first."
Lilia's expression softened slightly, her anxiety easing a little. So there would be terms and conditions. That meant she didn't need to worry too much. But the thought of sleeping in Zethan's room—Zethan's room—made her uneasy. She couldn't deny that the prospect unsettled her.
Zethan leaned in slightly, a small, unreadable smile playing on his lips as he raised his chin. He had finally caught her attention again. The displeasure in his eyes, however, remained—he hadn't missed the way she had been so absorbed in watching the two men sparring earlier. Especially the blonde one.
His voice was smooth as he asked, "Do you have a problem staying with me, Loris?"
Lilia shook her head quickly. "No, I have no problem with that. As long as we don't do anything, then fine."
Zethan chuckled softly, as if genuinely surprised by her words. Then, amusement flickered in his gaze. "Hmm, I wonder who'll be the one begging me to sleep with her."
Lilia's eyes widened, surprised by his bold words again. This man lacked shame. She snapped her head toward him. "You don't have to worry about that, Mr. Zethan. Besides, you're not my type—I'm into inexperienced men."
Before she knew it, Zethan began to laugh—loudly, as if he had just heard the funniest joke in the world. Yet, despite his amusement, his eyes remained locked onto hers with an intensity that unsettled her.
Then, his voice cut through the air, his tone serious once again. "Inexperienced, huh? So naive of you to say. But what if I told you...I'm very inexperienced?"
He leaned in closer, his expression turning serious, and Lilia could feel her heartbeat quicken, though she couldn't quite explain why.
Lilia sat up abruptly, her eyes narrowing as she turned to him with a sharp glare. "That's a lie. I wouldn't believe such nonsense." She scoffed. "If that were to be true, then the sun never rises, Mr. Zethan. I'm sure you're more than just experienced."
Zethan's grin grew wider. His gaze remained fixed on hers, his amusement still evident, but now there was something darker beneath it.
Her annoyance was clear as she shot him a pointed look before turning away.
Zethan, caught off guard by her expression, said nothing.
But what turned him rigid was what she muttered under her breath, her voice barely audible:
"If you're so inexperienced, then how come you already slept with your ex-fiancée?"
