Chapter 178: Master, what is the Pink Cherry?”

Xiang Yu settled onto the couch, feeling the familiar weight of Lian and Mei as they squeezed in on either side of him. He couldn’t help but tease, "As big as this couch is, the both of you chose to squeeze me into this tiny space."

Mei pouted playfully. "Master, it’s all your fault."

Lian chimed in, her voice filled with mock indignation. "Yes, you always leave us scared half to death."

Xiang Yu chuckled a warm sound that filled the room. "Didn’t the Divine Emperor tell you that I am fine? You like worrying too much."

Lian crossed her arms over her chest, her expression defiant. "That old man is so mean to Master. Who would believe him?"

Far away, the Divine Emperor felt his teeth itch at the slander. How was he mean to Xiang Yu? All he had done was tell him to stay away from his son. What good could come out of that relationship?

Mei suddenly leaned in close, her voice dropping to a conspiratorial whisper as though the Divine Emperor wouldn’t hear her. "Did you see Han Xin, Master? You can court him behind you-know-who’s back."

Xiang Yu sighed, pulling the girls into a hug. "Didn’t we agree that you would find me a new boyfriend?"

The girls’ faces lit up with mischievous smiles. "Yes, yes, we will find you one," Mei said eagerly.

Lian nodded enthusiastically. "Yes, we will find a boyfriend for you in every world. Master doesn’t need that Han Xin anyway. There are plenty of handsome and plump fish in the sea."

Xiang Yu laughed, hoping to divert their thoughts. Only the heavens knew how hard it had been for him to see Han Xin today. The encounter had stirred emotions he had tried to bury, and the girls’ playful banter was a welcome distraction.

He gently touched the twins’ hair, his fingers brushing through the soft strands. "You will need haircuts before school starts," he said, his tone calm and matter-of-fact. "I will take you tomorrow." freeweɓnøvel.com

Lian and Mei stared at him, their eyes wide with shock. "..."

They had heard about this "school" thing from Little Bai. He had described it as a place of learning where they would make friends, but Lian and Mei didn’t like the idea. They had thought Little Bai was lying, but hearing it from their master left them stunned. If they were dogs, their ears and tails would have been standing up in alarm.

"Scho scho school?" Lian stammered, her voice barely above a whisper.

Mei laughed nervously, hoping it was a joke. "Master, you are kidding, right?"

But Xiang Yu’s expression remained serious. The twins exchanged a glance before suddenly bolting upstairs, their footsteps echoing through the apartment. "We are not going!" Lian yelled.

"We aren’t coming out of our room until Master changes his mind!" Mei added, her voice defiant.

Xiang Yu sat there, momentarily speechless. "..." He couldn’t help but wonder if school was really that bad.

Little Bai appeared, carrying a plate of food. "Yu-ge, food is ready," he said, placing the plate on the small dining table.

"Thank you," Xiang Yu replied, sitting down. As he began to eat, he asked, "Is school that bad?"

Little Bai thought back to his own school days. "It’s not bad at all. It’s a necessary experience," he said, his tone reassuring.

Xiang Yu nodded, taking in Little Bai’s words. As Little Bai was about to walk away, Xiang Yu added, "I am leaving to go somewhere tonight, so can you watch them for me? Make sure they don’t stay up late."

Little Bai nodded. "Yu-ge, I will take great care of them. You don’t need to worry."

Xiang Yu smiled, appreciating his help. He was grateful Little Bai could watch them otherwise he they would get up to no good in his absence.

Xiang Yu woke up around seven in the evening, his afternoon nap having turned into a deep, relaxing sleep. Even when Lian and Mei had tried to wake him earlier, he had been fast asleep and wouldn’t stir. He washed up and got dressed, feeling refreshed.

Downstairs, the twins were sitting at the small dining table, a movie playing in the background. The aroma of shredded lamb stew, white rice, stir-fried bok choy with garlic and mushrooms, and rice paper spring rolls filled the air. Little Bai had outdone himself, and the food looked and smelled delicious. Lian held her chopsticks, almost drooling. "Shouldn’t we wait for Master to wake up?" she asked.

Mei smiled slightly. "Master wouldn’t want to miss dinner."

Little Bai looked up from the kitchen. "He is really tired. I saved some food for him, so you can eat."

"Thank you for the food, Brother Bai," Lian and Mei said simultaneously, their voices filled with gratitude.

Little Bai smiled warmly. "Dig in."

As they began to eat, Lian suddenly asked, "Where is Master going later?" They had overheard Xiang Yu telling Little Bai that he would be going out.

Little Bai, recalling where Xiang Yu usually went, blurted out, "Looking for a new mommy for you."

Lian and Mei froze. "..."

Mei asked, "Looking for a mommy where?"

Realising his mistake, Little Bai quickly backtracked. "Don’t overthink it. I just blurted it out. He’s probably going to hang out with friends."

Lian frowned. "Master doesn’t have friends. Do you know exactly where he is going?"

Little Bai knew he had opened a can of worms. "Forget it. Eat your food before it gets cold."

When Xiang Yu came downstairs, he found Little Bai being interrogated by Lian and Mei like a criminal. Little Bai was almost in tears. He walked down the stairs, dressed in a black t-shirt and pants, looking like he was about to rob a bank. "Don’t mess with Little Bai," he said firmly.

Little Bai looked at him like he was seeing a saviour.

Lian asked, "Master, what is the Pink Cherry?"

Xiang Yu picked up a piece of shredded lamb from Lian’s bowl and fed it to her. "That is adult business," he said.
