Chapter 550: Payment for his services

Han Xin’s gaze lingered on Xiang Yu’s broad shoulders, his eyes tracing the lines of muscle beneath the t-shirt. Xiang Yu gasped, asking, "How are you going to pay me... for my services?"

Han Xin embraced Xiang Yu from behind, his arms wrapping around the man’s waist possessively. "Like this," Han Xin murmured, his breath warm against Xiang Yu’s ear.

Xiang Yu froze, his body stiffening under Han Xin’s touch. A gasp escaped his lips as Han Xin’s fingers trailed up his collarbone, light and teasing, before cupping his chin. Han Xin tilted Xiang Yu’s head to the side, exposing the vulnerable curve of his neck.

The room seemed to grow warmer, the air heavy with unspoken desire. Han Xin leaned in, his lips brushing against Xiang Yu’s skin, sending shivers down the man’s spine.

Xiang Yu’s eyes widened as Han Xin’s mouth pressed firmly against his neck, his lips moving in a slow, deliberate rhythm. The sensation was overwhelming, an intense pleasure that spread from the crown of Xiang Yu’s head down to the very base of his spine.

His breath hitched as Han Xin’s tongue traced the sensitive skin, his teeth grazing lightly before sucking hard, leaving a mark that would serve as a testament to their unspoken relationship.

The wind beating against the window seemed to have gone silent, save for the soft sounds of Han Xin’s ministrations and Xiang Yu’s laboured breathing. Han Xin’s hands tightened around Xiang Yu’s waist, pulling him closer, as if to ensure there was no space between them.

Xiang Yu’s pulse raced, his body trembling under the onslaught of sensations. He felt powerless, yet strangely exhilarated, as Han Xin’s dominance enveloped him.

Finally, Han Xin pulled away, his lips leaving Xiang Yu’s neck with a soft pop. He licked the spot one last time, savouring the taste of Xiang Yu’s skin, before releasing him.

Han Xin stepped back, a satisfied smile playing on his lips as he admired his handiwork. The hickey was prominent, a dark bruise against Xiang Yu’s pale skin, a clear mark of ownership.

Xiang Yu’s hand instinctively rose to touch the tender spot, his fingers brushing over it gently. His cheeks flushed, a mix of embarrassment and arousal washing over him.

He turned to face Han Xin, his eyes searching, but Han Xin’s expression was unreadable, his gaze intense and possessive. "Now everyone will know what kind of relationship we have," Han Xin said softly, his voice dripping with satisfaction.

Han Xin opened the door to the conference room, and Xiang Yu stepped in first. The room fell into a momentary silence as the gathered individuals turned their attention to the unexpected arrival.

Su Jing, sitting at the far end of the table, let out a harsh tsk, her arms crossed and her expression openly sceptical. Lu Lu, seated closer to the door, looked up at Xiang Yu with curiosity, his head tilting slightly as she studied him.

Han Xin followed behind, his presence commanding immediate respect. "Sorry, I’m late," he said, his voice calm but firm. The others stood up instinctively, a sign of deference to their leader, but Han Xin raised his hand. "Sit, please," he said, his tone leaving no room for argument. frёeweɓηovel.coɱ

He took a seat next to Han Zhan, who leaned in slightly, his voice a low whisper. "What is Xiang Yu doing here?" he asked, his brows furrowed in confusion.

Han Xin just smiled slightly, not offering an explanation. His gaze shifted to Xiang Yu, who stood at the front of the room, confident and composed.

The others, however, weren’t as subtle. Their eyes lingered on Xiang Yu’s neck, where a very prominent hickey was clearly visible. Then their gazes dropped to his ring finger, where a simple but unmistakable ring sat.

Some of them exchanged glances, some nudged each other, until their eyes inevitably found the same ring on Han Xin’s finger. The room buzzed with unspoken questions, the tension thick but unaddressed.

Xiang Yu cleared his throat, drawing their attention back to him. "As everyone in this room knows," he began, his voice steady and confident, "we have a major problem.

There’s a hit out on most of you," he said, his eyes scanning the room, "with the biggest bounty on your Lord." As he said the word "Lord," his gaze shifted to Han Xin, their eyes meeting briefly. The intensity in that look didn’t go unnoticed.

Su Jing’s sharp voice cut through the room. "How can we trust you?" she demanded, her tone biting. "Not long ago, you wanted to kill us."

Xiang Yu’s lips curled into a small smile, his eyes still fixed on Han Xin. "As long as I’m his husband," he said, his tone light but carrying a weight that silenced the room, "we have common interests."

The reactions were mixed. Some exchanged shocked glances, others leaned back in their chairs, processing the statement. Han Xin, sitting at the table, didn’t flinch. Instead, he spoke up, his voice calm but authoritative. "Listen to him," he said, his words leaving no room for argument.

Xiang Yu chuckled softly, a sound that seemed to ease some of the tension in the room. He began to explain the plan on how they would fortify the city, create defences using the mutated vines, and strategically position their forces to counter the incoming threat.

His voice was measured, his explanations clear and concise. The room, initially sceptical, began to lean in, their attention fully captured. By the time Xiang Yu finished, the scepticism in the room had shifted to genuine interest.

Lu Lu stared at the plan laid out on the table, his name circled prominently as the lead for guarding the city. He frowned, his brows knitting together as he raised his hand slightly. "Why me?" he asked, his tone hesitant but curious. "What about the others?"

Xiang Yu leaned against the large table, his posture relaxed but his gaze sharp. He had expected this question. "The rest of you," he said, his voice calm and steady, "are going out with us to hit them where it hurts."

The room fell silent, the weight of his words sinking in. The group exchanged uneasy glances, some muttering under their breath. Xiang Yu watched their reactions, his expression unreadable but knowing. He had anticipated this.

"We’re going to hit the Luminarchs," he continued, his tone firm. "They have a secret lab, far from their city. They’ve been using it to experiment on people and mutated beasts to create superbeings. If they succeed in creating superhumans, more powerful than the Awakened, we are all screwed."

He paused, letting the gravity of his words settle over the room. "The Alliance doesn’t even know that Overseer Kira has this in the pipeline," he added, his voice dropping slightly. "She intends to use it to take over the Alliance and rule them with an iron fist."
