’I leveled up 7 times!’
Within a few seconds, he just took another giant leap in strength.
Apart from the passive growth to his attributes gotten from leveling up 7 times in a row, the 2 new skills that he unlocked opened the door to a different facet to his combat style.
Julian’s eyes gleamed.
’This is definitely significant growth’. He grinned, and finally he looked at Lilith who was looking at him with a quietly excited and expectant look on her face.
Instead of expressing his gratitude with words, he walked towards her and hugged her, expressing his gratitude with action.
He kissed her on the forehead and whispered. "Thank you".
He grinned. "I love your gifts".
That was all the validation that she needed as Lilith blushed before puffing up her cheeks in satisfaction.
Julian laughed, then...
Blink!
They left to Theodore’s room.
...
Minutes earlier, Theodore’s room...
Laying down on the cozy bed that was inside the bedroom, the Wolfkin’s brown eyes were unfocused as he looked at the ceiling, lost in his thoughts.
He couldn’t stop thinking about his current circumstance, he couldn’t stop thinking about the Demoness Sects and what they did to him, he couldn’t stop thinking about his family, and most importantly he couldn’t stop thinking about the offer that Lord Zaratul made for him.
He raised his hands and looked at it. ’Am I really talented?’
Despite how naïve he was concerning a lot of important matters about the world and Awakened, his common sense still told him that Lord Zaratul would have never spared him if he didn’t have something valuable to offer.
Afterall, the villain was infamous for slaughter. He killed without reason.
These realizations made him feel conflicted. ’So as I am, I’m valuable to a Demon of Zaratul’s caliber?’
He felt a bit proud.
He knew that he was likely being used, but he was not angry. In this world, it was a privilege to be used by someone powerful.
It meant that you were useful.
All his life, Theodore lived in the confines of his Town and with his family, learning the ways of a farmer from his father.
And even while living that simple life, he’d heard of Zaratul’s infamy. He’d also heard of his harem of powerful Villainesses.
Unlike the Demon Lord though, he never had any grand ambitions.
Just like his father, his entire life were confined to and revolved around the safe perimeter of the Town that was under the protection of the Druid Society. And just like his father, he knew to always stay within the protective confines of this circle that was provided by the Druid Society.
Being unnecessarily ambitious meant death, waking up one day and deciding to explore the world meant death.
Afterall, this was a ruthless and unforgiving world.
This was a world where powerful Awakened walked.
Theodore lived his entire life knowing that he was a frog stuck in a well, not just any frog a weak and useless frog.
At first it was hard to accept but as he grew up, he learned to accept it. Afterall, learning to accept reality was maturity right?
He’d matured a few years ago, but now, after the conversation that Zaratul had with him, though his cheek still stung from the slap, he could not help but be ambitious for the very first time in his life.
He could not help it as the flames of ambition burned hot for the very first time within him.
And for the first time, he began thinking.
’What if I’m really as talented as he says?’
’What if I really have what it takes to become powerful under him?’
’What if following him will turn me into a powerhouse in the future?’ He could not help but let his imagination fly.
He imagined himself becoming powerful enough to take revenge on the Witches who left him in this situation, he imagined becoming so powerful and rich that he built a mansion for his parents to spend the rest of their living days.
He imagined marrying his crush back home, or maybe he would become even powerful enough to attract even more beauties.
Maybe he could also have his own harem.
His lips curled up in a grin as he let his imagination fly.
But in a way, his imagination was not unfounded. Afterall, his new room already proved it.
Back home, he had never slept in a room this luxurious.
The room felt like something that was straight out of a medieval fantasy story. It was cozy, rustic, and a little magical.
It was one of the least exceptional rooms in the entirety of the Demon Castle but to a Country bum like Theodore, this was luxury.
The space in the room was built from rough stone walls and thick wooden beams, giving it a sturdy, ancient feel like it might be tucked inside a castle tower. Well, it was, it was tucked inside Dreadmoor.
A low, slanted enchanted wooden ceiling added to the intimate, tucked-away atmosphere.
From the center of the room to the wall is a soft, inviting bed draped with heavy curtains that hung from above, creating a semi-enclosed nook and that was where Theodore currently laid on.
The bedding is layered with textured blankets and plush pillows, making it look warm and perfect for cold nights.
The fabrics were in earthy tones, mostly brown, creamy, and muted grays that blended naturally with the stone and the wood.
This was a deliberate choice since having read Theodore’s personality like a book already, Julian didn’t want to unsettle him with an overly luxurious room.
Only a room this modest but high-scale would make him feel at ease.
To the side, a small arched window with a grid of panes let in a faint, cool daylight, contrasting beautifully with the warm glow of candlelight that was inside.
The candles were placed on shelves and near what looked like a magic lantern stand, and together they cast flickering shadows across the walls, enhancing the room’s cozy, slightly mysterious mood.
There was a wooden chest at the foot of the bed, a fur rug, and stone steps leading up to the bed.
The entire room looked like an enchanted retreat.
Theodore admired the layout of the room some more with a look of disbelief on his face, and then he stood up from the bed and walked towards the small arched window, admiring the wilderness outside.
He was quiet for a long time, simply looking outside, lost in his thoughts till he was interrupted.
BZZZ!
Crash!
Startled, Theodore stumbled to the ground before quickly picking himself up as he raised his head to see Lord Zaratul and the creepy Vampire.
He immediately bowed in a respectful manner.
"Lord Zaratul".
