Chapter 45: A meeting in Dreadmoor [1]

"Sit".

As Julian’s voice reverberated, all his subordinates obeyed and sat down except Pandora who stubbornly stood beside him like usual.

As Julian thought of how to start the meeting, he suddenly experienced a feeling like a pair of eyes were ogling him.

He frowned. ’What is this feeling?’

But then he realized. ’This is Qi Sight!’

He looked at Sir Alfred first, then he looked at Xoreth only to find the beautiful Catfolk looking at him with a bright twinkle in her glowing blue eyes.

She was using Qi Sight.

Julian was surprised. ’Is this the effect when I use Qi Sight on others? No, this feeling has to be because I’m a Mage too’.

’Is this the perception of a Mage?’ 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝒆𝔀𝒆𝙗𝓷𝒐𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝓸𝓶

Realizing what was happening, Sir Alfred’s face darkened as he looked at Xoreth. "Xoreth!" He called in a deep authoritative voice.

The Catfolk stuck her tongue out in a playful manner and deactivated the skill, but she didn’t avert her gaze from Julian.

Her blue cat eyes twinkled like stars.

"Lord Zaratul, you’ve recovered far more than last time!" She said excitedly. "This calls for celebration," she added with a mischievous grin. "I should celebrate with you tonight in your room!"

"Xoreth!"

This time, it was Pandora who called as she stared at the Catfolk coldly.

Despite being glared at by the powerful Succubus Illusionist, Xoreth showed no fear as she kept her gaze on Julian, waiting expectantly.

Julian was dumbfounded. ’This is elite level rage baiting’.

As expected, realizing that she was being ignored, Pandora snapped as her purple qi started flaring in a violent manner but then Julian raised his right hand.

"That’s enough". He said calmly and instantly, all the commotion died down.

Julian didn’t look at any of the two ladies, he didn’t want to indulge them. Instead he looked at Sir Alfred. "It’s been 10 years since I’ve been in a coma".

"During the last meeting after I woke up, you told me about the events that happened after I entered a state of coma but you didn’t tell me how Dreadmoor has been faring in my absence".

"It’s time I know the specifics about what’s going on in my castle," Julian’s eyes gleamed slightly. "Alfred, tell me".

"Yes Lord Zaratul".

Sir Alfred took a deep breath to organize his thoughts, then he started. "Since 10 years ago after the Great Battle of 1895, all the kingdoms that we had business and partnership relationship with cut ties with us".

"Without trade, it’s hard to sustain a hungry castle like Dreadmoor".

"Over the past 10 years, we already exhausted our previously deep castle reserves, and now we’re on a deficit". Sir Alfred said solemnly. "I’ve not received any salary for the past 6 years".

Hearing that, Julian’s eyes darkened. "How have you been coping?"

"I’ve been seeking help from some old contacts of mine, also, Dante and Bruno have been periodically going on raids outside to keep the castle afloat".

"Despite all of this, we’re still on a deficit".

"The army’s supplies and food reserves are at an all-time low, we’re also running out of qi crystals to power Dreadmoor".

’Wow,’ Julian thought, slightly exasperated. ’I expected the situation to be bad, but I didn’t expect it to be this bad’.

He looked at Sir Alfred. "Why didn’t you take more risks to get resources? You’re an S Rank Conceptual Sovereign".

Sir Alfred nodded calmly. "But I’m the only S Rank Sovereign currently in the castle. With the qi crystal shortage, I have to be on ground always to make sure that all of Dreadmoor’s essential functions are working properly".

"Besides, I can leave to raid kingdoms and get supplies, but by doing so Dreadmoor will be left unprotected".

"Lilith is injured, Puck and Pandora are not yet S Rank".

"If one of our S Rank enemies attacked, I’m not confident in them being able to protect you in my absence, that’s why I never took the risk".

Curious, Julian asked. "What if I took longer before waking up and the deficit situation deteriorated further?"

Sir Alfred shrugged. "Then we’ll simply reduce activities and any power-hungry functions of Dreadmoor. We’ll rather go into hibernation than put your safety in jeopardy".

Julian nodded calmly, then he praised. "You did admirably in my absence. When I recover, I’ll find a way to reward you appropriately".

"Thank you Lord Zaratul, it’s my duty". Sir Alfred bowed slightly.

Julian took a deep breath. "The reason why I called this meeting is because in the past 3 days since my awakening, I’ve noticed the slight rot in the castle".

"I didn’t expect it to be this bad".

He remained calm as his predatory eyes flickered, then he demanded. "Pandora, show me the flag of Gomorra".

The moment he demanded, Pandora raised her right hand and pointed at the air in front of her.

Her purple qi flared briefly.

False Image!

Immediately after she activated the skill, a realistic interactive visual illusion appeared showing a comprehensive map of Gomorra.

The map showed the 4 cardinal points of the world, the East, the North, the West, and the South, including the Kingdoms and Empires in each region.

Julian tapped at the interactive illusion, zooming towards the Kingdoms in the South.

[SOUTH: Evergreen Kingdom- South Central; Varad Kingdom- Southwest; Falaniondor Kingdom- Southeast; Druid Society- Southwest.]

These were the 3 main kingdoms in the South.

As for the Druid Society, it is a neutral organization, the no. 2 neutral organization in the world- the protectors and rulers of the Midnight Forest.

The reason why Julian focused on the South was because Pandora already told him previously that Dreadmoor was currently hidden in a wasteland in the South, for this reason he also already read about the kingdoms in the South.

The Varad Kingdom in the Southwest is a Kingdom of Orcs. According to the book, they were led by the Orc King, a Level 100 S Rank Martial Sovereign of the Warrior Class, known as the Conquest Sovereign.

As for the Evergreen Kingdom in South Central, it’s a Kingdom of Elves with mostly Archers and Druids.

They are led by the Elven Queen, a Level 100 S Rank Trajectory Sovereign of the Archer Class.

And as for the Falaniondor Kingdom in the Southeast, it is a Kingdom of Centaurs. This was the Kingdom where the Centaur that Julian met back in the valley where he hunted Goblins hailed from.

Unlike the 2 other Kingdoms that are led by a Queen and a King, the Falaniondor Kingdom as the weakest kingdom of the 3 is led by a Council of 3 Councilors, all 3 of them being Level 90+ Archer and Warrior Class powerhouses.

Zaratul previously had trade and business relationships with Falaniondor and Varad, but after the battle 10 years ago, they betrayed him.

And now, Julian set his eyes on them.

Julian tapped at the interactive illusion again, zooming towards the Falaniondor Kingdom.

His subordinates could already tell where this was going as some of them waited with excitement and anticipation while the others stayed calm and composed.

Julian pointed at the Falaniondor Kingdom. "That is our target".

He stood up from his throne. "Tomorrow, we shall commence the first major joint mission since my awakening".

"It’s time to replenish Dreadmoor’s reserves".

"Our main target is the Central Bank of Falaniondor, but at the same time we’ll also target their food stores".

"Tomorrow, we’re going on a raid".

As Julian spoke, the Debauchery System lit up with a new notification thread.
