Villain in a Fantasy World; I Level Up by Conquering Villainesses-Chapter 88: A starry night hike & nature date
It was already a week since the events in Falaniondor, and while the rest of the world reeled due to his actions, Julian also processed his actions.
He didn’t let his thoughts weigh him down though.
He knew that worrying over problems would not automatically solve them. So instead of worrying, he continued adapting to his new life and indulged himself with every opportunity that he got.
Afterall, with the caliber of enemies that he had in this world, there was every chance that he was not going to make it past 1 month, so why not enjoy?
In the Southern evergreen hills, the night had settled over the forest like a velvet cloak, thick with quiet and glittering with starlight.
Above the winding path leading up the hill, the sky stretched endlessly, scattered with silver stars that shimmered between drifting clouds.
A tall figure with pale alabaster skin walked ahead, his boots crunching softly over gravel and fallen leaves. His Demon horns curved slightly back from his temples, dark against the pale glow of the moon.
Julian enjoyed the night breeze up the hill.
Just yesterday, after a week of digesting her gains since the events of Falaniondor, Lilith finally woke up from her slumber again and like expected, she immediately sought Julian out, asking to be pampered and loved.
Well, Julian didn’t think too deep about it.
If such a beautiful Vampire wanted to spend time with him after waking up from her slumber, literally begging for it, why not?
He spent most of yesterday and today with her, and tonight, he decided to go on his first official date in the world of Gomorra.
Who said Demons don’t go on dates?
Without looking behind him, as he walked ahead he said. "You’re quiet tonight".
Tap... tap...
A second pair of footsteps followed a few paces behind him, lighter and almost soundless as Lilith stepped into a streak of moonlight, her crimson eyes reflecting the sky above.
"I’m thinking," she replied with a gorgeous smile.
Julian chuckled. "That’s dangerous".
Hearing him chuckle, Lilith looked at him with a pleased twinkle in her eyes.
Julian knew what that look meant. ’The original Zaratul didn’t chuckle huh?’ He felt like laughing. ’Just how stuck up was that bastard?’
’All of that pretentious living and he still ended up dying, lame!’
Lilith suddenly skipped towards him in a bubbly manner before intertwining her pale fingers with his, then she grinned. "Tonight, you’re all mine!"
"Yeah, yeah, I’m all yours". Julian chuckled.
They continued up the narrow trail that wound through the hills, going through a forest that smelled of pine and cool earth.
Somewhere in the distance, a bird cawed.
Caw! Caw!
Hearing it, Julian truly felt attuned with nature as he felt at peace.
And then he finally slowed down as the trees began to thin. "Almost there".
Starry night hiking was always one of his fantasies that he imagined doing in his previous life, but due to an accumulation of a lot of reasons, he never quite had the opportunity to go on one.
’To think I had to transmigrate before being able to go on a nature date’.
He didn’t complain though. In fact, he enjoyed it because he was afraid of nothing in the wild.
As a Level 30 C Rank Awakened now, few things in this forest could actually pose a threat to him.
And heck, his date was an S Rank Sovereign. Though injured, the title was still there and no Qi Beast with a modicum of sense would dare target them.
Soon, they stepped over the crest of the hill, then the forest suddenly opened into a quiet meadow where the grass swayed softly in the night wind.
Fireflies floated above the field like tiny wandering stars. Beyond them stretched a clear view of the sky, the constellations blazing brighter than anywhere else in the valley.
Staring up at the starry constellations, Julian could not help but think. ’Hell, Underworld, the Astral Realm... I still don’t know much about these terms’.
He learned all of them during the raid of Falaniondor.
’Well, I guess I’ll have to visit the library again’.
Following his gaze and staring at the constellations in the sky, Lilith finally asked. "This is our destination?"
"Yes," Julian grinned. "I want to watch the night sky with you alone".
"Me alone..." Lilith repeated the term and before she knew it, her face was already blushing red.
She smiled and said softly. "You’ve really changed. Before, you’d never do something like this. You don’t even talk like this before".
Julian chuckled. "Being that close to death changes you in a fundamental way. Besides, anything can happen in the future, so why not enjoy life?"
Lilith smiled softly, making her beauty glow like part of the constellations in the sky. "You’re right," she mumbled. "Why not enjoy life?"
She looked at the sky again, then she opened her mouth and hesitated. "It’s..."
"Beautiful?" Julian offered with a grin.
"Yes". Lilith agreed with a smile.
After that, they both stood for a moment in silence, feeling the wind brush through the grass and against their legs.
Then, Julian knelt beside a flat stone and pulled at the void, dragging out a folded blanket, a bottle of dark red wine and two glasses from his System Inventory.
Lilith laughed. "You actually planned this? You’ve really changed".
Julian didn’t answer, he just grinned.
Of course, Lilith voiced out her disappointment that it was not blood but Julian shrugged it off as they settled onto the blanket.
She leaned against him, gazing at the sky together as above them, a meteor streaked across the sky.
She took a deep breath, then she murmured. "You know... this is the most peaceful night I’ve had in a century".
Julian tilted his head slightly and grinned. "Sometimes, amid the chaos, war, and debauchery, we need a bit of peace and quiet too".
"It keeps us from going insane".
Lilith didn’t respond as she kept quiet, letting those words ring repeatedly in her head as she digested them.
For more than 10 minutes, they leaned against each other, seeking warmth and comfort in each other’s body heat and before they knew it, even with the chilly wind of the hill blowing, their bodies heated up.
For another minute, none of them said a word but then Lilith broke the silence as she looked at him.
"Let’s have sex". She demanded with a grin.
