Villain Saving System (BL)-Chapter 481 - 8.81 Big Liar*
Compared to his suave appearance earlier, Ellen was more laid-back and relaxed now.
His furry coat had disappeared to God-knows-where, and he had tugged his tie loose, the top two buttons undone to show a flash of unblemished jade skin. His hair was windswept and a bit messy, yet it framed his lovely face even more gorgeously. The thin layer of make-up on it was still intact, accentuating his high cheekbones and delicate eyebrows. From such a close distance, he looked even more dazzling.
Lu Yizhou simply couldn’t get used to how beautiful his lover was no matter how many times he had seen him.
His heart almost leapt out of his chest, yearning to go to where it belonged. However, he firmly held himself back. Not because he did not want to, but the gaze Ellen sent him was still the same as earlier. It was that frosty, estranged, almost unfamiliar gaze. It was like he was looking at a total stranger.
Lu Yizhou had been through seven worlds, had seen seven different versions of his lover, yet never before had he been the recipient of such a look. It was like someone had doused icy water over his head and his heart was squeezed so tightly it was hard to breathe. He felt mildly nauseous, though he couldn’t ascertain whether it was due to the nerves or the ship that kept buoying freely on the surface of the sea.
He swallowed thickly. "Do you... remember me?"
Ellen gave him a slow blink. His gaze was plainly scrutinizing as he pondered on the question. Lu Yizhou’s breathing had completely failed him as he waited for the answer that came five seconds later. "Hmm... should I?"
"Oh..." Lu Yizhou lowered his gaze, despondent. A heavy lump formed on his throat. His eyes felt faintly stinging but the more he thought about it, the more unreasonable he felt he was. So what if he did not remember you, he tried to tell himself. All Lu Yizhou should do was to get close to him and break through his armor, again and again. Just like how he always did before. He nodded stiffly in acquiescence and the voice that came out of his mouth sounded strained even to his own ears. "It’s an honor to make your acquaintance. My name is Lu Yizhou."
"Lu Yizhou..." Ellen drawled out lazily. He took one step after another, getting closer and closer but Lu Yizhou just could not bring himself to look up. He was afraid to see that kind of gaze again, just thinking of it was already painful enough like a yawning hole had been dug on his chest.
Ellen stopped right in front of him. So close they were that Lu Yizhou could smell his citrusy cologne and sense the warmth radiating off him. He clenched his fists tighter. If Ellen noticed how loud his heart was beating right now, then he did not say anything.
"Lu Yizhou..." Ellen said in an indolent tone, almost purring. "Do you think I’m beautiful?"
Albeit puzzled by that question that came out of nowhere, Lu Yizhou answered with all honesty. "...Of course."
"Even more than Chu Lingshe?"
Who the hell was Chu Lingshe? Lu Yizhou’s brows knitted in confusion before he realized that it should be the ’Goddess Lingling’ the fans were gossiping about. His mood soured again just by the mention of her name. Why did Ellen bring her up all of a sudden?
"Of course." He tried to keep his tone neutral. "You’re the most beautiful person I have ever laid my eyes upon. How can she ever compare?"
A melodious chuckle sounded, so familiar yet unfamiliar at the same time. There was an indelible chill permeating Ellen’s voice and oh, Lu Yizhou truly wished he could taste that laughter right before it could fall off Ellen’s lips. Would it be freezing like him?
He startled at the cold touch of Ellen’s fingers on his chin. As he was distracted by the sound of Ellen’s beautiful laugh, the man leaned in until his voice sounded right beside Lu Yizhou’s ear. His exhale caressed the shell of Lu Yizhou’s ear, sending shivers down his spine. "What a sweet mouth you have there." He murmured in a low voice. "But how can I believe you when you don’t even look at me?"
An inexplicable tension shrouded the air in that instant, almost tangible in their intensity.
Lu Yizhou’s breath hitched on his throat as he forced himself to meet those bewitching golden eyes. Up close, the effect of his visual was all the more devastating. Holding together the thin strand of his sanity, he repeated his statement with fire in his eyes. "So beautiful..." his voice gradually turned hoarse. "No one can ever compare."
Ellen stared at him unblinkingly for a moment as if he was contemplating whether Lu Yizhou was telling the truth or not. Those eyes were so deep, mysterious and bottomless that Lu Yizhou couldn’t even begin to guess what was running through his mind. This time though, he did not avert his gaze away. It was unknown what Ellen had found on his face but in the end, a faint laugh escaped his lips, turning his mesmerizing eyes into crescents.
"Well, I believe you now." He said. Then before Lu Yizhou could say anything in reply, he followed up with another question. "Then, do you think I am the kind of person who will invite anybody to my private room, Lu Yizhou?"
Being in such close proximity with those golden eyes was so distracting that it took a few seconds for the implication behind Ellen’s words to sink into his mind. His eyes instantly widened in disbelief. "You..."
"You big liar." The obscurity in Ellen’s eyes was suddenly lifted and all of a sudden, everything became crystal clear. The anger, irritation, sorrow and loneliness were brought up to the surface. "If I don’t teach you a lesson, you will not know the consequences of lying to me. Was it fun? To lie to me? Hmm?"
One second Lu Yizhou was stranded in a sweltering desert with nowhere to go and in the next second, he was suddenly transported into a vast land filled with blooming flowers, chirping birds and rushing waterfall. It was almost terrifying how strong of a hold his lover had over him yet right now, Lu Yizhou could not care less.
He yanked Ellen into his embrace and unceremoniously wrapped his arms around the other. His exhale came out shaky as his burning eyelids fluttered shut. Finally... he was alive again. Finally, he could have his most precious treasure again. "It’s you... It’s really you..."
Ellen did not move to reciprocate but he did not reject Lu Yizhou’s touch either. He quietly let himself be hugged, it was unknown what was in his mind.
Lu Yizhou buried his face into the crook of Ellen’s neck, inhaling his unique scent and relishing in the silken sensation of his hair. "I know it was cruel to you but no matter what... I have to free you from that place. Rather than seeing you helplessly being trapped and unconscious, I—"
"What?" Ellen cut him off. His tone was soft, yet the underlying fury beneath it was akin to a volcano on the verge of erupting. "So you thought it’s better to use my hands to kill you?"
