Villain's Second Heart: Trapped in A Fantasy Novel (BL)-Chapter 39: Power Leveling
Chapter 39 - Power Leveling
The first dinosaurs reached him in seconds. Ezra twirled his spear instinctively, his body moving on pure adrenaline. His violet weapon shimmered mid-spin, slicing two beasts - velociraptors - across the chest. The wounds weren't deep enough to kill, but that wasn't his job.
Rav kept good on his promise.
The instant the raptors were struck, whirling blades of cloud spiraled down from the sky, slicing them into perfect, bloody ribbons. The bisected creatures collapsed in a heap, their screeches cut short.
"Nice one, Rav!" Ezra shouted -
But he barely had time to hear Rav's smug reply before a shadow loomed overhead.
A brachiosaur, easily twice his height, reared back and bucked forward, trying to crush him with a brutal stomp.
Ezra leapt to the side just in time, the ground shattering where he once stood. But as he dodged, another predator lunged from his blind spot - a bulky, lizard-like beast with a thick, spiked tail.
Too late to dodge.
Ezra spun his spear, jamming it through the monster's tail just before it could whip across his face. The creature howled in pain—only for a scythe-like blade of wind to slash across its body, ending its cries in an instant.

Ezra gritted his teeth. Four down.
He looked out in despair.
That was just the beginning.
From the jungle's edge, dozens of eyes gleamed. A throng of snarling, bloodthirsty beasts, charging up the hill with the sole desire to maim and brutalize..
Velociraptors, six, seven, ten of them sprinting at full speed. A pair of horned carnivores, bony ridges along their spines glistening in the sun. A trio of triceratops-sized creatures, their jagged tusks coated in old, dried blood.
And at the back, a silhouette so massive and hulking that Ezra's stomach twisted in dread.
He could hear its deep, guttural breathing before he even saw its full form.
This wasn't a pack of wild dinosaurs. This was a hunt.
Ezra clenched his spear. No time to hesitate.
He dashed forward, his body moving faster than his mind could catch up. A lunging raptor - sidestep, strike to the ribs. A horned beast - duck low, stab at its leg. Thrust. Dodge. Pivot. And a spin.
One strike per beast. That's all he needed.
Rav handled the rest.
And he did - effortlessly. Although Rav made it look a little too easy. He was laying on his back, whistling and watching the clouds overhead all while he dished out deliverance from above without lifting a finger.
Cloud blades shot down in razor-thin arcs, slicing through monster after monster. The sky rained blood and viscera, but Rav still didn't move an inch from his reclined position. He was barely even paying attention.
Ezra's chest heaved as more and more bodies piled up around him, the ground beneath him becoming slick with crimson. His muscles burned, but he couldn't stop.

How could he protect Oberyn if he couldn't even handle a pack of wild dinosaurs?
The raptors kept coming.
Ezra thrust his spear forward, piercing straight through the jaw of one of the leaping predators. But even as it fell, another barreled toward him from behind.
Too late to react.
The beast was mid-pounce when—
CRACK.
A massive tendril of cloud snapped down like a whip, obliterating the dinosaur before it could reach Ezra.
Rav sighed from above. "That's your one freebie save. Next one's biting your ass."
Ezra wiped sweat and blood from his brow. "Gee. Thanks."
But there was no time to relax.
A roar so creaking and deep that it seemed to make the entire world tremble. Ezra turned, his heart hammering against his ribs.
The massive silhouette from earlier finally stepped into the clearing.
A behemoth.
Easily five times the size of any monster they'd faced so far.
Its jet-black scales gleamed in the sunlight, its rows of jagged fangs dripping with fresh saliva. It stomped forward, the sheer impact nearly throwing Ezra off balance.
Rav whistled. "Well, this could be fun! That thing's level thirty!"
Ezra swallowed hard.
"Rav...what the hell is that!?"
The Ferin grinned, lazily stretching out his arms.
"That, Ezra...is a Tyrannodon."
And for the first time all fight, Rav finally sat up.
"I won't let it kill you!" Rav shouted over the chaos. "But, uh...try to get a hit in, eh?"
The Tyrannodon was charging, the smaller dinosaurs knocked off course in its wake. They began to scatter and run off into the jungle - the king of this place had arrived, and this was his battle now.
Each of the running steps it took quaked the ground and the closer it got, the more hopeless Ezra felt. This thing was TOO big. It could swallow his entire body in a single gulp.
Ezra took a deep breath. He knew what to do. But he only had one shot.
He braced himself, everything riding on his one attack. He screamed at the top of his lungs and pulled his spear back, aiming...waiting...
'Just a little closer...' Ezra said, totally focused.
And then - the right moment. He hurled the spear through the air, and it became a volt of violet energy. The secret hidden ability of the spear - one that only activated when used as a javelin.
The radiant streak passed through the air in a collision course with the Tyrannodon, and when it finally reached, it struck the colossal dinosaur straight in the jaw and continued to course through its skull, shattering it in an instant.
The dinosaur roared a dying gasp and crashed to the ground, defeated. All the others had fled - and were none to eager to come back. Anyone who could slay a Tyrannodon was of no interest to the others.
Rav landed next to Ezra, hands on his hips. "Not bad."
Ezra nodded, prying his spear out of the dinosaur's skull. As he did, he looked down and saw yet another message.
