Void Cultivation-Chapter 198- Blood Devouring Fiendish Bird (2)
But this was not the only reason Grey decided not to use his Special Brilliance form. With the partial inheritance of the Wind Monarch, his speed could also reach a terrifying level. The only problem was that his body couldn’t endure such strain for a prolonged period of time. Pushing that limit recklessly would only hasten his own collapse.
However, that concern did not seem to trouble Grey at the moment.
The extreme speed the old man had been displaying was already showing signs of fading.
The man’s bloated skin gradually shrank back to normal, and the bloodshot redness in his eyes receded, leaving them clear and bright once more. The disturbing popping sounds that had echoed from his bones finally stopped, no longer sounding as if his body were tearing itself apart from the inside. The cracks that had split open his skin were still wet with blood, but they began to heal at a slow but visible pace.
With this change, the terrifying speed the old man relied on clearly began to diminish.
Seeing this, a sharp glint flashed through Grey’s calm, detached eyes.
His body vanished.
In the next instant, he reappeared several meters closer.
Then he vanished again.
Grey warped through space repeatedly, closing the distance with ruthless efficiency. Each reappearance brought him closer to the old man, and it was obvious that it was only a matter of moments before Grey reached him.
When the old man noticed this, horror finally surfaced on his face.
Before he could react, an illusory snake appeared out of nowhere and sank its fangs into his rapidly weakening body. The bite looked unreal, almost translucent... yet the effect was horrifyingly real.
Venom seeped into the old man’s body.
His flesh immediately began to rot and wither at a terrifying speed, patches of skin darkening and decaying as if time itself were accelerating within him.
The old man clenched his teeth, forcing down his pained groans. With trembling hands, he produced another red pill. It was unclear whether his body could endure such violent treatment again, but he knew one thing for certain.
If he hesitated, he would die by Grey’s hand.
A trace of reluctance flickered through his eyes.
Then, with a vicious motion, he raised the pill to his mouth and swallowed it whole. His body trembled intensely, but the decision had already been made by him. He would not back out of it anymore.
"With this, my level will rise, and I will temporarily break through to the Foundation Establishment Realm," the old man said as he suddenly turned around. His voice was hoarse, yet filled with grim resolve. "This has been the trump card I prepared for you long ago. And you... will be the first to witness it."
He stopped fleeing.
Instead, he charged straight at Grey.
His aura surged violently, climbing until it slammed against the ceiling of the Eighth Level of Qi Accumulation. That invisible barrier trembled but did not stop him. In the next moment, it shattered.
The old man entered the Ninth Level of Qi Accumulation.
Loud popping sounds rang out from his body as he let out a feral growl, veins bulging and muscles twisting unnaturally. His speed increased even further, and as he rushed forward, the air exploded behind him in deafening booms.
Black goo began seeping from his pores.
Yet because of his extreme speed, the viscous substance couldn’t cling to his body. It dispersed almost instantly, dissolving into strands of black mist that trailed behind him.
A faint stench of death and decay spread through the air.
Black fog rose from the old man’s body, curling and spreading outward like ink poured into clear water, staining everything in its path.
With another agonized growl, he broke through again, entering the Tenth Level of Qi Accumulation.
A faint yet unmistakable aura of Foundation Establishment leaked from his body. His power continued to rise violently, swelling to its absolute limit. When he was only five meters away from Grey, his aura reached its peak!
The Perfected Level of Qi Accumulation.
However, despite the violent spiritual fluctuations surrounding him, they were clearly unstable. They lacked the depth and solidity of someone who had truly reached that realm. After all, the old man was merely burning his own potential to force this breakthrough.
In a short while, his power would begin to decline.
And when that happened, he would fall back to the Seventh Level of Qi Accumulation, or worse. Unless he used a heaven defying treasure, his cultivation would remain stuck at the Seventh level of Qi Accumulation, and would keep on declining until he became a mortal.
When Grey saw this, a slight frown appeared on his face.
Still, he did not stop. 𝕗𝚛𝚎𝚎𝐰𝗲𝗯𝗻𝚘𝚟𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝕞
Raising his hand, a purple illusory sword formed above his head, its presence distorting the air around it. His eyes shone like cold purple moonlight, filled with unshakable resolve.
Without hesitation, Grey brought the sword down.
The strike carried power that felt capable of tearing the world itself apart.
The old man hastily formed a hand seal, then slammed his fist into his own chest. With that single action, the last of his remaining potential was burned away completely.
His aura exploded outward.
And the old man...
Stepped into Foundation Establishment.
The presence of Foundation Establishment suddenly spread out from the old man’s body and into the surroundings. The world seemed to tremble as the clouds were torn apart by fierce winds. The abominations that hid in the Whistling fields all felt the presence that belonged solely to those in the Foundation Establishment Realm and started to burrow deeper into the soil.
Only those few creatures and bizarre existences that were in the Foundation Establishment Realm were attracted and looked over. Their divine sense locked unto both Grey and the old man. But Grey’s body was covered by his divine sense, so the divine senses of these creatures only bounced off it.
So the old man became the focus of the divine senses. His existence was that of a bright flame in the midst of darkness. The bizarre existenced all revealed an expression of desire and hunger as their locked unto the old man.
The old man did not feel anything, because as his power kept rising, the feeling that his body would soon collapse due to his power kept on getting nearer.
But he did not care anymore! With a crazed howl, he dug his fingers into his own body and brought out six worms. These worms were dark and covered in many patterns. They looked very bizarre and out of place.
The moment the six worms were out, the old man bit his tongue and spat blood unto the six worms. The six worms let out pained cries as their bodies were began to burn and turn into smoke.
By the time the worms were burned, they smoke had turned into seven malicious spirits. Their power level was also in the Foundation Establishment Realm and kept on rising alongside the old man. It was... as if they were also a part of him, and anything the old man felt or did, would also be reflected on the worms. And if they died, the old man would also feel an excruciating pain and the feeling of death would come over him.
"These are my Sinister Ghosts that I made with my own flesh and blood. If I cannot kill you, then I will make sure you die with me!" The old man roared. All reasoning in his mind was gone, and he looked like a crazed beast.
