Chapter 114: Surprisingly Delicious

Belladonna burst forwards, flames spewing from the base of her feet as she practically skated across the ground. Leaning back, she let the first swing of the maul fly over her as she limbo’d under it, all whilst skating on flames, then leapt backwards to avoid the follow up slam that would have crushed her into a fine meat paste.

She planted her hands against the Maul as it rested on the ground, which had been shattered by the sheer force of the impact, as she used it like a springboard to launch herself into the air.

Her legs wrapped around its head as she swung around it, anchoring herself in place using the helmet’s horns as she plunged her daggers into the gap of its neck.

The skull that showed in the giants face plate was not actually his skull. It was a decoration that had been in place since the armour’s creation. The undead underneath that armour still had flesh, at least from what Belladonna could feel.

She plunged her daggers into that flash, stabbing and stabbing, but no matter how much flesh she tore up the bastard refused to die.

Belladonna had to vacate her special seat, as the Giant knight had grown used to it as an attack position and was already reaching to grab one of her limbs, and if she allowed that such a thing meant certain death.

Retreating again, as her hands flourished dozens of intricate hand signals before she blasted the undead right in the face with a fireball. But even that only made him stumble slightly.

For that moment of relief, Belladonna frowned as she thought that she was forgetting something, when it pinged into her mind and she whipped her head towards the man watching with mouth agape. 𝙛𝒓𝒆𝙚𝒘𝒆𝓫𝙣𝓸𝙫𝓮𝒍.𝒄𝒐𝓶

"If you’re thinking of kill stealing, don’t bother! You’ll be dead before you can make it to the towns edge, and I won’t bother to make it quick.

Or better yet, why don’t you stop standing there and make yourself useful. Even if its just as my juice box!" She shouted, ducking under another swing of the Maul and giving an uppercut in return, which staggered the armoured giant even less than the fireball did.

"Your- Your juice box?! What the hell are you talking about? And what are you even doing here in the first place?!" Revenant barked in a demanding, arrogant tone. In truth he had been considering letting her weaken it for him, but not to kill it.

He was going to let her weaken it, save him the resources and then subjugate her and if he had to kill her to do it, then that was just the price she paid for getting in his way.

"Yeah! Just let me get some sip asshole. Just a little lifeforce, you won’t miss it!" Belladonna shouted back, causing Revenant to frown and reconsider his plans.

He had to admit, there was some level of curiosity in his mind when it came to this girl. She was... unexpected, and that was not a good thing for him. But more than unexpected, she was completely unknown.

Just the mention of life force was odd, and he had heard nothing about it before, which only fed his morbid curioisity even more. He mulled it over in his mind, taking his time to think as if there wasn’t a fight to the death going on in front of him, before he sighed heavily.

He thrust his hand towards his undead companions and made a grasping motion. Two motes of pale blue light flowed from the walking corpses, as they collapsed to the ground a second later and returned to normal corpses.

The pale blue lights swirled in his hand, leaving trails behind them wherever they moved, before he pushed his hand towards the enigma girl. The twin motes shot forwards, flowing through the air as they darted around the towering Black Knight and shoved themselves straight into Belladonna’s mouth.

The force of their entry threw her backwards a few steps as she immediately choked and gagged, then a second later a sickening crack sounded out. Claws tore through her fingers, her spine readjusted and the colour melted from her eyes into tears of blood as Belladonna’s [Blood Frenzy] started its transformation, all without a drop of blood.

Revenant looked on in confusion and curiosity, watching the transformation with bated breathe and inquisitive eyes. But the towering Black Knight didn’t care. He lunged forwards, leaping into the air and bringing his hammer right down onto Belladonna’s head.

The ground cracked from the force of the blow, but the hammer did not reach the ground. It was Belladonna’s feet, rooted deep in the ground, that had destroyed it as she caught the mauls swing with just a single hand.

She pushed the maul to the side, reeled her arm back as her muscles bulged beneath her armour to the point that it was straining the leather, and then punched forwards.

Revenant stumbled back, staring in horror and bafflement, as the Black Knight he coveted so much was launched off his feet and sent flying backwards like a ragdoll. The armour behemoth crashed into the church he had came from, smashing through a few walls in the process.

A complete reversal of the roles he had been introduced to on his arrival.

Revenants wide eyes turned slowly from the hole the Black Knight left and looked at Belladonna as if she was truly the monster she appeared to be. But Belladonna was unbothered by his looks, as she made her claws retreat so they were just longer than her fingers usually were, and clenched her fist.

She rolled her neck, bathing in the power that flowed through her body. But there was something even more enjoyable than the overwhelming power, and that was the complete silence in her mind.

Her torn mouth twisted into a sinister smile that reached all the way up to her ears as she let out a sigh of relief.

"Now that... is what I call a delicious meal."
