Warhammer Divine Throne-Chapter 714 - 317, The Battle of Leonais Plains (5000-word mega - !)_3
"Boom!" At close range, the cannon fired at the charging Barbarian Army, flames bursting from the barrel and unleashing a large spread of grapeshot.
Hundreds, or perhaps more, Barbarian Warriors were blasted to pieces, but the Barbarians did not retreat. Those not killed on the spot charged into the ranks of the Brittania people, starting a fierce melee.
"Flaming Skull!" Veronica acted, and the Jialan Witch's whole body radiated brilliantly. A giant fiery skull swept through the dense formations of the Barbarian army, delivering devastating damage.
Egil suddenly realized that the Knight Army led by Laine was nothing like the reckless troops of the Leonais Duchy, who placed everything on the group charge of the knights. On the contrary, Laine's army fought in a well-organized manner, with closely packed formations and excellent strategy.
The central army was engaged in a brutal melee, with Laine's newly trained Long Halberd Legion and soldiers striving to repel the Barbarian Army's frontal attack, barely holding on. On the right flank, knights led by Sir Houlf were locked in fierce combat with Barbarian Champion Warrior Hardorn and hordes of Barbarian Raiders, the situation currently in a deadlock.
This was a fresh force from Brittania! The Divine Chosen Champion of Khorne keenly noticed the battlefield turning against him as the Barbarian cavalry used to contain the Knight Army's left flank suffered heavy casualties. These Barbarian cavalry relied on their agility to evade arrow showers or crossbow arrows but couldn't dodge the lead shot of Dwarf Musketeers. Each volley felled at least twenty to thirty Barbarian riders. Within minutes, from the five hundred Barbarian cavalry Egil brought from Skalings, fewer than a hundred remained, and their numbers continued to dwindle rapidly. Those despicable Dwarves sometimes didn't aim at riders at all but directly attacked the horses!
Chaos Champion Cowende had abandoned the harassment of the left flank to direct the central army for the impending mass knight charge from the left wing.
"We must immediately crush the opponent's artillery and those Dwarf Musketeers, or we risk failure!" Egil knew he must act, calling on his Personal Guard. Three hundred Chaos Chosen Warriors led the remaining five thousand Barbarian Warriors into the fray.
Meanwhile, Holy Grail Knight Armand, standing behind the central army observing the battlefield situation, said to Laine: "My Count, Egil is preparing to lead his Personal Guard into battle."
Laine nodded, turned his head to the female sorcerer beside him: "Teresa, I ask for your help."
The female sorcerer, clad in black leather, had been preparing a powerful spell since the battle began. At Laine's request, she raised her purple Magic Staff high.
"Eighth Ring Magic, Ice Dragon Breath!"
A twenty-meter-long Ice Giant Dragon appeared in the sky, roaring as it opened its mouth towards the Barbarians battling fiercely below, unleashing a torrent of Ice Element magic energy.
All Barbarians caught in the Frost Dragon Breath were shattered. Despite being creatures born in the Northern Wasteland, accustomed to cold, they could not withstand such formidable magic energy.
Egil felt deeply troubled as the battlefield was fragmented; the Frost Dragon Breath divided the Barbarian Army in two and erected an ice wall several meters high, severing the Barbarians in half. The assault diminished significantly, those trapped inside the ice walls retreating repeatedly against Laine's forces while the rear couldn't catch up.
Just then, Chaos Champion Cowende, commanding the army, was struck in the head by a stray bullet. The impact was so powerful it blew off half his skull, causing him to fall dead from his horse.
His death exacerbated the chaos among the Barbarian vanguard. Without a unified commander, they fought individually.
Dwarf Engineer Dugen the Ironman laid down his smoking long-barreled sniper Fire Cannon, proudly turning to Kingdom Knight Hex and Laine's fiancée Surya, saying: "I told you, when it comes to dueling, the brave Dwarves always win!"
The explosive rounds used for sniping were from Veronica Dawn Wizard Tower, infused with large amounts of Flame Magic Energy. Dugen had hastily procured only three rounds, so he used them sparingly. Satisfied with his results, the Dwarf Engineer was eager to let the human knights know. 𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝚠𝚎𝚋𝗻𝗼𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝚘𝐦
Hex could only respond with an eye roll, thinking that the Dwarves' dueling and the knights' dueling might mean different things. The heroic Lady Knight Surya, seeing this, proactively praised: "Mr. Dugen, your marksmanship is impressive."
Having heard Lady Surya say so, Dugen's chin and beard nearly tilted to the heavens: "The Dwarves are always the best."
On the other side, the Barbarians were still vigorously striking the ice wall with their weapons.
"This thin ice wall!" Egil charged first, his Hell Battleaxe creating a massive crater on the ice wall. The magic ice wall Teresa created couldn't withstand Egil's fierce assault, but it was at least three to four meters thick. The Divine Chosen Champion of Khorne immediately called to the only remaining Chaos Mage in his tribe, his adoptive son Chakoy: "Destroy this section of the ice wall immediately!"
"Yes!" Chakoy began sensing the Wind of Chaos, preparing a spell, when extreme danger flashed through his mind, causing him to instinctively dodge.
A white beam struck the spot where Chakoy had stood.
A beautiful witch in fiery-red leather appeared in the distance, protected by knights and soldiers.
"Your opponent is me, Chaos Mage!"
