Chapter 1472: Section 1473 The Light Shines Upon All

The light fog stretched all the way to the Sunbird’s pit.

When they sensed the dense aura of death from the Sunbird pit, Greya and Felicia tacitly stopped further diffusion.

Now, sweat covered their foreheads, and energy showed signs of depletion; including the Sunbird’s pit would surely drain them completely.

At this moment, to everyone’s eyes, the entire region of Black Castle was completely shrouded in light fog.

This was a very extraordinary experience.

The light fog itself possessed the attributes of Purification and brightness, whereas Black Castle was perennially enveloped by gloom, coldness, and the chaotic venom borne of the undead. These two starkly distinct attributes collided at this moment.

The victor of this confrontation was the light fog. Or rather, before the darkness could gather, the light fog had already suppressed it completely.

If the Feast were to fail, perhaps the darkness would reignite soon after, but for this brief period, it would be quite difficult to topple the bright spectacle crafted by the light fog.

By now, Greya and Felicia looked at each other; both appeared weary, especially Greya, with pale lips and trembling legs, for her physical body was not her own, which entailed greater consumption than Felicia.

However, thankfully, Greya had managed to persevere.

“Lift the cover,” Greya panted to Felicia. What followed was no longer for them to decide.

It was time to see if the guests—the land itself—were satisfied with the banquet they had served.

Felicia nodded in agreement, her lips moving slightly. Among the floating ghosts, a portion flapped their wings toward the lid of the platter.

With a gentle flutter of the butterfly wings, the lid slowly opened.

As a slit appeared in the lid, golden light began to overflow. Powerful energy burst forth instantly!

If the previous light fog was but a fraction of Purification energy, the current golden light was purely composed of it.

All Wizards on the high platform distinctly felt the pressure from this surging energy.

When the lid was fully lifted, the main body of the Feast—a light orb—slowly rose from the platter into the sky. Initially the size of a meatball, but as it ascended, it grew larger and larger.

When the light orb reached its maximum size, it began to fall.

The fall was incredibly rapid and soon hit the ground, then, like the setting sun, it gradually merged into the earth.

Everyone, including Felicia and Greya, held their breath watching this scene, then silently waited.

If this Feast were compared with a traditional banquet, the previous spread of the light fog could be called the appetizer; the descent of the light orb marked the main course’s beginning; and what everyone awaited now was the “guest’s” reaction to the banquet.

Approval? Or dissatisfaction from the “guest,” leading to rejection?

This would determine whether the ambiance of Black Castle could be altered.

Everyone waited with bated breath—one minute, two minutes… until after five minutes had passed, still no change occurred. A look of disappointment began to surface on some Wizards’ faces.

However, Angel noticed that the expressions of Greya and Felicia showed no change.

“Perhaps, the guest hasn’t finished dining?” Angel speculated to himself.

A few more minutes passed, and the first change finally happened—not in Black Castle, but the light fog conjured by Greya and Felicia began to sink into the earth, like the light orb before it.

For some reason, witnessing this scene, an odd notion rose in Angel’s mind.

If one considered the “guest” as a person, and the light orb was the main dish, then the surrounding light fog was like a bowl of soup to cleanse the palate. Now that the main dish was finished, it was time for soup, and so the light fog descended.

As Angel’s imaginative musings freely wandered, the light fog became less and less, until all of it had disappeared.

Black Castle reverted to its prior state, dim and devoid of sunlight.

Then came a moment of heavy stillness, with no further changes in Black Castle. Having tasted light, and now thrust back into darkness, even those like Angel who had not lived in Black Castle felt a touch of discomfort.

“Did it fail?” After a long while, a Wizard spoke up.

Felicia turned her head, unsure what to answer; even she felt that they might have failed. Perhaps the “guest” was not pleased with the flavor.

However, at this moment, Greya suddenly said, “Wait a bit longer.”

This wait stretched into another long ten minutes; with the light fog gone, the high platform felt the cold winds of Black Castle once again.

The howling wind made one shiver uncontrollably.

“Is there any point in waiting any longer?” Another Wizard couldn’t restrain himself and spoke again, already steeped in disappointment and seeing no hope in further waiting.

Greya’s response was the same as before: “Wait.”

As impatience began to brew among the crowd, Isabel suddenly lifted her head to peer at the dark sky: “Wait, I think I feel a slight change?”

Isabel’s comment left everyone stunned, and they followed her gaze skyward.

At some point unnoticed, the thick low-hanging clouds began to stir, ebbing and flowing like the tide, as the cloud layers started to retreat.

As the clouds drifted into the distance, a slit finally appeared, golden sunshine streaming through the gap and spilling onto the land of Black Castle.

This slit grew wider and wider, embracing more sunlight, and the world that was previously cloaked in darkness seemed to vanish in the blink of an eye.

With the naked eye, even the floating dust in the air became clearly visible in the light.

The entire region of Black Castle began to experience clouds continuously dispersing with countless slits bringing more sunlight, entering a rare scene—

Darkness and light tore through the twilight.

Isabel gazed at this long-lost scene, her lips curling slightly.

All the Wizards also watched in astonishment; they were no strangers to a world of light, but witnessing such intense changes of light and shadow in Black Castle was a first for many.

“It seems the guest’s feedback, after a drawn-out post-feast resonance, has finally arrived,” Sanders’s voice reached Angel’s ears.

Angel nodded, his blue eyes beautifully transparent and gleaming from the falling light.

“The guest seems quite satisfied with this Feast,” Angel’s gaze shifted from the sudden burst of golden light in the distance, slowly settling downwards.

Those who heard Angel’s voice also followed his gaze.

At some unknown moment, the ground began to emit streams of black vapor. Even with the naked eye, one could clearly see these vapors.

These black vapors were filled with an aura of resentment, but as the sunlight continued to bathe the land, all the places touched by the sunlight saw the black vapor boiling upwards and scattering into the air.

Seeing this sight, everyone realized that this Feast had not failed as they had previously speculated.

It was just that the guest’s response had been slow.

And the evaporation of these black vapors signified everything.

The so-called black vapor was actually the malaise that had accumulated over the years on this land. The Witches present could kill or banish the undead, but neither could eradicate the longstanding malaise of the land.

Without removing this malaise, the menace would always remain.

Even if, by leveraging Angel’s Samsara Overture, the undead of the Black Castle region were temporarily eradicated, as long as the old maladies persisted at the root, there would always be a chance for the dead ashes to rekindle and return with a vengeance.

But this malaise, which no one had been able to remove, was finally purged through the combined efforts of Greya and Felicia.

Above their heads, the sun shone broadly, illuminating the world.

The ground was covered with large swaths of black vapor rising.

At this moment, even the hardest-hearted of Witches felt a soft spot within them touched.

“Sunshine diffuses, hope revived…” Mrs. Kimberly watched this spectacle with misty eyes, a soft, gentle smile on her lips.

As Sanders had said before, this witnessing was not overly thrilling, nor did it present any dramatic rises and falls, but as soon as the satisfaction of the guest was confirmed, everything unfolded in the predetermined direction, developing steadily.

Black vapor was rising; sunlight was spreading, all without much tumult.

Angel was not a man of Black Castle, so he could not share their excitement, yet watching this sight, he too felt moved.

A thousand-year-old dream, once drowned in the darkness of bygone days, began a new chapter in the light.

No one knew where Black Castle would go next, or what stories the new pages would tell. But one thing was certain—if there was no change, hope would never come; only continued descent into oblivion.

When Black Castle was finally bathed completely in sunlight, and the dark clouds and Lightning Serpents that once floated overhead had vanished, Greya and Felicia came together hand in hand.

Mrs. Kimberly curtsied to them, expressing her sincere gratitude.

Although the black vapor had not been entirely eradicated, everyone knew that it was only a matter of time.

And after witnessing such an awe-inspiring event, no one misjudged the role of the Gourmet Sorcerer again.

Even Angel gained a deeper understanding of the Gourmet Sorcerer’s significance. They were not mere vassals of Witches; their existence might carry a meaning even closer to the essence of the world.

At least, Angel could not imagine how he himself would uproot the foundation of this diseased land.

The witness’s banquet ended under broad sunshine.

The atmosphere of Black Castle seemed to begin changing, but in reality, there were many issues still urgently needing attention. Take, for example, the talus pits of the Sunbird; that place was not just a wasteland but also filled with corpses and undead, perhaps even more terrifying entities. Although the talus was some distance from Black Castle, there was a conduit for transporting corpses into the castle walls. Therefore, this formed another complication.

However, these matters were not Angel’s concern. With Isabel’s vision, she would undoubtedly address them one by one.

In the coming period, Black Castle would probably enter a long phase of transformation. This might be painful for the castle, but one could see a future and hope.

During this period of transformation, as an outsider, Angel naturally would not participate.

He was now considering his departure.
