Chapter 16: Chapter 15: Honey, I Know I Was Wrong

Bella Acker instinctively sat up straight when she heard the words from the other end of the phone, "Yes, I’m Bella Acker."

"Ms. Acker, it’s like this. I watched your audition reel and thought it was very good. However, the character of Iris requires a more mature appearance. After discussing, we thought another role would suit you very well. I was wondering if you would be available to come for another audition tomorrow at three in the afternoon?" The main producer spoke very politely, much more courteous than the producer who was there during the first audition.

Originally thinking she had failed, Bella was surprised by this sudden new opportunity and she certainly wouldn’t let it slip by. 𝘧𝑟𝑒𝑒𝘸𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝓁.𝘤𝘰𝓂

"Okay... sure. I’ll be there on time at three tomorrow afternoon." Bella was very excited, though she managed to keep her excitement in check, "May I ask which role I would be auditioning for?"

"The lead’s sister, Hera."

"What?" Bella, holding the phone, was dumbfounded on the spot.

"Is something wrong? Is there a problem, Ms. Acker?" the main producer asked.

"No, no problem." Bella quickly snapped back, "Thank you for giving me this opportunity, I will prepare thoroughly."

"That’s good to hear." The main producer chuckled on the other side of the call, "Then I’ll look forward to your performance tomorrow afternoon, goodbye."

"Goodbye." As she hung up the phone, Bella looked at the screen, feeling as if she were in a dream.

She couldn’t help but pinch her own cheek. It hurt, which meant it was real.

"Amazing!" Bella’s mood instantly shifted from gloomy to bright, tossing her phone onto the bed, and jumped up in joy.

She had initially thought she failed the audition and would have to look for another opportunity, never expecting the producer of "Brocade River and Mountain" to call her personally, offering her a chance to audition for a role more prominent than Iris.

Hera had a significant presence in the novel, starting naive and lively, and turning dark later, marking her as an important supporting role. It’s said that such key roles usually have pre-designated actors, but surprisingly, "Brocade River and Mountain" had no predetermined actors, and the main producer wanted her to audition.

Regardless of the final outcome, this was indeed a great opportunity.

Bella immediately felt motivated.

Feeling better, she recalled deliberately provoking Damian earlier and felt a pang of guilt.

Bella hesitated for a moment, then tiptoed quietly towards the bathroom door.

The bathroom door was frosted glass. She pressed herself against it, eyes wide, barely making out a tall dark silhouette.

After a moment, the tall dark silhouette approached, and there was a ’click’ as the door opened.

Bella was caught off guard and almost fell, but fortunately, Damian reached out and caught her.

Bella flashed a somewhat ingratiating smile, cautiously looked up at Damian’s expression, which was, as expected, blank.

She stuck out her little tongue and put on a pitiful look, grabbing Damian’s still slightly damp arm, fluttering her eyelashes as she called softly, "Damian."

No reaction. Damian’s arm exerted a little force to push her upright, then he bypassed her, leaving the bathroom doorway.

There was no way Bella would give up just like that; she clung to him like a little shadow, tugging lightly at the towel wrapped around Damian, pouting as she pleaded pitifully, "Honey, I know I was wrong, please don’t be mad, okay? If you’re really that upset, then... then you can hit me a couple of times. I promise I won’t cry."
