Chapter 31: Chapter 30: Friends

Sandra Woods, Bella Acker is really embarrassed.

But she has no money on her, and truly has nowhere to go.

"Shannon, thank you." Bella Acker, touched, wiped away the tears that welled up again and said softly.

"Don’t cry, it’s just a man. The old goes out, the new comes in." Sandra Woods said, "I switch boyfriends every ten days or half a month, I’ve got plenty of good resources on hand, and I’ll introduce you to some later."

Bella Acker slumped her shoulders, looking pitiful, and didn’t respond.

Sandra Woods sighed and stopped talking. They remained silent all the way back to the apartment block.

"Bella, we’re here, get out of the car."

"Huh? Oh!" Bella Acker was deep in thought, and was stunned for a moment before reacting, opening the car door and following Sandra Woods who was already heading to open the electronic gate with her things, "Shannon, let me carry some of that stuff."

"With those thin arms and legs of yours, what can you carry? Let’s go." Sandra Woods pushed the door open and walked ahead.

Bella Acker hurried to follow.

Sandra Woods’s apartment is on the sixteenth floor, originally a three-room suite of over ninety square meters, but it was converted into a two-room suite, making it seem quite empty for one person.

"Bella, make yourself comfortable." Sandra Woods first fetched a bottle of juice from the fridge for her, then said, "I’ll go cook some noodles for you."

"You can cook?" Bella Acker was a bit surprised. From Sandra Woods’s outfit and habits, she didn’t seem like someone who could cook.

Sandra Woods laughed upon hearing this, "You’re lucky, sister can only cook instant noodles." That said, she carried the items into the kitchen.

Bella Acker was left alone in the living room, feeling somewhat tense and uneasy, as it was her first time at Sandra Woods’s home, and it was difficult to relax immediately.

She sat awkwardly on the couch in the living room for a while, and eventually decided to head to the kitchen where Sandra Woods was boiling instant noodles.

Previously at the orphanage, there were caretakers who looked after her, so she never learned to cook. Later, she ate at the school cafeteria, and even later with Damian Sinclair, she never set foot in the kitchen. So Bella Acker doesn’t know how to cook.

She walked to the kitchen door, watching Sandra Woods bustling around to boil instant noodles for her, her eyes suddenly reddened again.

She and Sandra Woods really aren’t deeply acquainted friends, but here she was, willing to run around for her late at night.

Bella Acker was deeply touched, looking at Sandra Woods’s back, and said, "Shannon, thank you."

"I already told you, don’t be polite with me." Sandra Woods poured the noodle soup into a bowl, turned around carrying the bowl, "Alright, come eat. Finishing this is the best thank you you can give me."

Bella Acker finally showed a hint of a smile and truly ate the big bowl of instant noodles Sandra Woods had cooked for her, leaving not a drop of soup.

She hadn’t eaten anything from noon until evening and was long hungry.

Seeing her finish, Sandra Woods said, "The room next door is empty; you can stay there from now on. Take a nice hot shower later, I’ve got new underwear, but the pajamas I wore once, don’t mind them."

Bella Acker quickly shook her head, "Shannon, you’re helping me so much, how could I possibly mind that."

"Silly girl, I was just joking with you." Sandra Woods jokingly rolled her eyes at her and said, "The bathroom’s over there, go draw some water yourself, I’ll go find you some clothes to change into."

"Shannon." Seeing Sandra Woods getting up to go to the room, Bella Acker immediately stopped her.

"What’s up?" Sandra Woods sat back down, looking earnestly at her.

The words she wanted to say were really hard to speak, Bella Acker hesitated for quite a while before saying, "Can you... can you lend me a few thousand dollars? I... I need to go to the hospital for surgery to take care of the child."
