Warm Married Life: Mr. President Loves His Darling Wife-Chapter 65 - 64: Looking for Trouble on Purpose
The aftereffects of the red wine were gradually kicking in. Bella did feel very dizzy and wanted to sleep, but she could still manage to hold on.
"I’m okay," Bella nodded.
Sharon looked at her with some concern. The earlier toasts were necessary, but after that, the drinking depended on personal relationships. As a newcomer, she wasn’t familiar with the others, so as long as no one intentionally caused trouble, she probably wouldn’t have to drink more. 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝙚𝔀𝒆𝒃𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝒐𝒎
"Bella, if you’re not feeling well, just let me know," Sharon advised.
Elaine Vaughn laughed first, "You know, Bella is not a child, she knows her limits, why are you so anxious?"
Sharon gave her a glance and whispered, "Didn’t you see how Lloyd looked at Bella earlier, and Vivi? What’s with Vivi, a seasoned professional, offering a toast to Bella for no reason? It’s Bella’s first time at such a dinner, she doesn’t know anything, how can I not watch over her?"
Elaine Vaughn, helpless, leaned closer and whispered in Sharon’s ear, "Sharon, aren’t you being too good to Bella?"
Sharon was momentarily taken aback by her words and looked at Elaine.
Elaine also looked back at her and nodded slightly to stress her earlier point.
As a senior, it’s nothing to casually look after a liked junior, but Sharon’s current behavior seemed like she was treating Bella as her own daughter. Elaine was worried her good friend might be used and thus gave her a reminder.
Seeing Sharon’s silence, Elaine whispered again, "Aren’t you treating Bella like she’s Lynn?"
Sharon’s body noticeably stiffened, and seeing the flash of sadness on her face, Elaine regretted bringing it up and quickly changed the topic, "Okay, it was my fault to mention that. It’s been a long time since we’ve met, how about a toast?" With that, she raised her glass.
Having spent half her life in the entertainment industry, Sharon excelled at hiding her emotions. She quickly managed to put on an appropriately gentle smile, raised her glass, and said, "I know you’re worried about me, don’t worry, I know my limits."
Elaine smiled, clinked her glass with hers, and didn’t pursue the topic further.
The aftereffects of the red wine grew stronger, Bella’s head becoming dizzier, managing to stay seated was purely down to willpower.
Vivian Norris glanced at her and, with a smile, raised her glass, "Bella, why aren’t you talking? Come, I toast to you."
"Vivi..." Bella raised her head somewhat surprised, her eyes vacant for a while before she finally regained some clarity, quickly picking up a nearby glass of juice to stand up.
Vivian smiled reservedly, yet left no room for refusal, "Bella, I toast you with wine, and you only have juice, that seems a bit insincere, doesn’t it?"
"Ah?" Bella, staring blankly at her, then looked down dazedly at what she was holding. Her mind slow to react, she finally realized she was holding juice, "I’m sorry, Vivi, I didn’t notice." With that, she quickly swapped the juice for a wine glass.
Vivian smiled, "This won’t do. To earn my forgiveness, you need to at least drink three glasses, right everyone?"
Sitting next to her, President Lloyd immediately started clapping, encouraging with the crowd, "Yes, yes, at least three glasses to show sincerity!"
Vivian simply smiled with her glass, evidently not letting Bella off unless she agreed to those three glasses.
Even a fool could see now that Vivian was intentionally causing trouble.
