Way of Overlord-Chapter 270: Maelstrom of Chaos
Chapter 270: Maelstrom of Chaos
The door of the stable burst opens as a few dozen horses runs out from the stable.
"Hahaha!" Aeryon then rushed toward the horse and take out a whip from the push on the left side of his horse.
He whips one of the horse and then in a few second he manage to make the horse follows his horse
"Follow me!" Aeryon shouted and the dozen horses follow him.
The horses run around and some runs in a different direction.
Aeryon did not care about those horses that escape.
After all his task is only to capture ten horses.
The fact that they run away is even better.
Because he could use it to capture them later.
Aeryon on the other hand did not run out from the tribe. Instead, he ride between the tent. It was almost like he wanted the whole tribe to know that they are being robbed.
Like he wanted the whole tribe to come after him.
He did not burn the tents, nor did he kill anyone, but it is clear he wanted to create chaos. Aeryon was riding his horse and deftly avoided any arrows that come after him
But then he narrows his eyes
"This...." Aeryon could feel that an arrow is coming toward him from the back.
This is nothing unusual that he could sense the arrow.
The only unusual about it is that the arrow is very fast and it wasn’t until it is near him, he realize it.
A bit slower and he might not be able to detect this arrow.
Even though Aeryon did not see anyone, he could feel it. Like an instinct.
"There is a person that is talented in the methods of the arrow" He thought to himself.
His ears twitched as he could hear the sound of the arrow cutting through the air even amidst the sound of shouting and orders being barked around.
Aeryon swerve his body to the left and where he just move an arrow passes by.
Swish!
The arrow cut through the air, miss its target, and pierce through the cold hard ground.
Aeryon allowed the other horses that he had brought out from the stable of the Fuxa tribe to run away.
But he himself stops, he pulls the reins of his horse and halted his move.
Neigh!
The horse stop, Aeryon stops, holding the reins tight.
And he sits there on the horse, looking at the people of the Fuxa tribe with a confident smile
And the people of Fuxa tribe that is rushing towards him all held their reins on their horses, forcing themselves to stop.
Aeryon on horseback is just waiting there at the entrance of the tribe.
Aeryon look around and he saw in the distance a young man.
Even though his hairstyle make him appears like a barbarian in all sense of the word, mohawk like hairstyle with shaved head on both sides of his head leaving only the middle hair to be prominently displayed, there is still that trace of youth on his face.
He waited.
The wind blows.
The horses neighed.
The silence continues.
For some reason, when Aeryon stopped, suddenly these people that was just about top attack and rush towards him also stops
Why?
They themselves don’t know why. But instead of anger, these tribesmen of the Fuxa tribe feel fear.
This intruder rushes into their tribe.
If that is not enough, he broke the stable. Lead all of the horses out of the stable and then rushing out.
To them, Aeryon move is unusual. Because they all thought this was a horse bandit. But a horse bandit would not just kidnap the horse and then stop to admire the view or waited for the whole tribe to gather.
This is not the first time that the Fuxa tribe meet a horse bandit. The horse bandit method is known to them. They come in quick and retreated as fast.
But horse bandits is rarely alone.
And even if they are alone, they would not just suddenly stops .
It is understandable if the horse bandit stops after being shot by an arrow.
But this horse bandit even avoid the arrow.
Then, in a true fashion of a horse bandits, after avoiding that arrow, he should continue on with his rewards, leading the horses that he had free to their bandit den.
But....here he is. Standing there on his horseback. This weird unexpected out of the box reaction and action from the horse bandits caught all of them shocked.
There is only this silence. Some people however is beginning to pluck their courage and is now ready to attack Aeryon. After all, there is confidence in number.
Aeron method might shock them for a few moment but now that they are given time, these people also realize that they are in the group with more people
No matter how strong this young person is, he is still one person.
’"Why would a noble person like the Kan robbed our horses?" suddenly there is a voice that cuts through the silence and echoes around the area. Aeryon hearing these words only smiles
"The Kan?"
"The horse bandit is the Kan?"
"Who is that young man?" there is whispers all around the tribe.
"Show yourself!" Aeryon ordered.
Even though he is the one that should be afraid and listening to the words o this tribe, the way he commanded is something that comes naturally to him.
The crowd gives way and an old man walk through the path that the crowd had created, walking slowly but steadily toward Aeryon.
The old man bows a little toward Aeryon and Aeryon nodded.
"We meet again" Aeryon said, there is a smile on his face.
Even though he is now surrounded on all sides, there is this confidence that radiated from him that deters people from making rash action.
Even more so when people hear his title. The Kan
As for the old man, the old man is the chief of the tribe, Fulqar.
Aeryon look at the tribe and he nodded with satisfaction.
When he broke through the guards, there are some people that fought him.
Even though none of them have any force that rivals that of Belarion, it is not without potential.
Aeryon believe that these young man of this tribe if they were integrated into his tribe army, they would become strong and could bear heavy responsibility
Fulqar could see that Aeryon is looking at his tribesmen and he sighed.
"Kan of the South, please tell me your intention?"
Fulqar had never addresses anyone as a Kan before.
This is because there is never a unifying figure that appears in the Southern Great Steppe for a long time.
There never was an overlord that could control so many lands and so many chiefs.
And to him, even though Aeryon had taken a lot of tribes under him and his influence spans toward the west of the lower Southern Steppe, he is still not worthy of being called the Kan.
However, he is travelling through the lands of Brolgadhr and he is an old man who has learned a lot from life.
Is it that hard for him to give such title to Aeryon? Why would he slap the face of a person who could determine the fate of his tribe?
Whether he said it not, it did not matter to the people under the Brolgadhr tribe.
They already regarded their Chief as a Kan so even if Fulqar say that Aeryon is a Kan no one is going to accuse him of using the Kan name as a method of flattering.
Aeryon barely listen to the question but then he takes a deep breath and then look back at Fulqar.
"Chief Fulqar, the world is in chaos, the tribes are all fighting against each other, and everyone is seeking the world"
The words is simple but the meaning is clear to the chief. The chief sighed. He looks at the young chief.
Everyone is only listening to the words of these two chief. Some understand the meaning of the young Kan
Some did not understand it but agree with the words of the young chief. The meaning is simple.
The world is in chaos, and you are also in that maelstrom of chaos.
Everyone is seeking the world, isn’t this referring to the many tribes that has risen since Aeryon started his conquest?
There is Utgard that is expanding. The fragments of Kazan tribe that wanted to swallow each other. The Esbizuk in the East.
The Khagai in the west, the tripartite alliance that is strengthening its influence. All over the Southern Great Steppe, great heroes are rising.
And of course, the Brolgadhr tribe. All of them are seeking the world, seeking to become the Kan of the Southern Great Steppe.
And combine this with what the last meeting between Fuxa tribe and Brolgadhr tribe is about, is it hard to understand the other implied meaning in the young Kan words?
You are small, can you withstand the chaos?
And to that, Fulqar simply answer
"It has nothing to do with us, Kan"
